Western intellectuals have had a field day looking down on "primitive" Muslims in Holland, France, Britain, Iran and Saudi Arabia who are so "unenlightened" concerning "elementary rights of free speech." Yet in Europe, Judaism's sacred "Shoah" ("Holocaust") theology is judicially protected from revisionist historians and irreverent satirists who dare to doubt any aspect of it, and not a peep of protest is heard from western intellectuals in defense of these blasphemers of the sacred tenets of Judaism. "There's no space" in Europe for those who doubt Judaism's holy Shoah icon, except a jail cell. This tyranny is what is laughingly known as "Western-style democracy" and to import it to Third World nations is the ardent desire of American and European colonizers. By The Associated Press June 29, 2005 The Vienna (Austria) city council on Wednesday lifted the immunity of a politician who suggested that Nazi gas chambers were found in Poland, but not anywhere else in the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. The council voted unanimously to strip John Gudenus, a legislator in Austria's upper house of parliament, of protection from prosecution for his remarks. Gudenus could now face prosecution under a law that prohibits people from trying to diminish, deny or justify the Holocaust. Ingrid Luttenberger, a spokeswoman for Vienna's Mayor Michael Haeupl, said the vote sends a message that such remarks will not be tolerated in Austria. "There is no space in the room for someone who says, ooh, I'm not so sure (about the Holocaust)," she said. The Vienna council can lift Gudenus' immunity because, like the councils in Austria's eight other provinces, it selects members for the upper house of parliament. The legislators in the largely powerless body are supposed to safeguard provincial interests. Critics have pressured Gudenus to resign since he declared in a television interview in April that the existence of gas chambers should be "seriously debated." In a later interview, he amended the remarks to say that "there were gas chambers, though not in the Third Reich but in Poland." (end quote from A.P.) Note the prejudicial headline of the preceding AP article. An objective headline would read, "Vienna city council lifts immunity for lawmaker who made revisionist jibe." But a "politician" who spouts "Nazi jibes" is far easier to dehumanize and dismiss. Those who blaspheme Judaism's holy gas chamber icon are invariably portrayed as bigoted haters, "Nazis" and "white supremacists" even when they are just independent-minded skeptics and doubters. Meanwhile, those who heap derision on the Koran or Mohammed are usually depicted not as bigots, but eccentric artists, upstart intellectuals and courageous dissidents. Michael A. Hoffman II
Poster Comment: What a "truth" the holocaust must be if they have to put people in prison for examining it or speaking of it in unapproved terms.
