COLLINSVILLE, Ala. — Federal and state agents have uncovered a small arsenal of home-made weapons that included a rocket launcher, 130 hand grenades and 70 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) similiar to the kind used by insurgents against American GIs in Iraq.

Agents also recovered enough live ammo to fill a U-Haul trailer, U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said Thursday. Agents earlier that day busted the caches of a group calling itself "The Free Militia."

Eric Kehn, a spokesman with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive, said four search warrants were executed in the operation, and six arrests were made.

Those arrested include: Raymond Kirk Dillard, a.k.a. Jeff Osborne, 46 of Collinsville, Ala.; Adam Lynn Cunningham, 41, also of Collinsville; Bonnell Hughes, a.k.a. Buster Hughes, 57, of Crossville, Ala.; Michael Wayne Bobo, 30, of Trussville, Ala.; Randall Garrett Cole, 22, of Gadsden, Ala.; and James Ray McElroy, 20, of Collinsville.

All six of the suspects belonged to "The Free Militia," officials said without releasing any information about the group.

"Deadly explosives have been removed from these communities due to outstanding investigative efforts," Martin said. "All evidence developed will be presented quickly to a federal grand jury. We will also ask that those arrested be detained without bond."

At least five bomb teams were on the scene in case explosives were found during the searches.

Officials said ATF agents encountered booby traps at one of the search sites.

The weapons cache also included a machine gun, a short barreled shot-gun, two silencers, numerous other firearms, 2500 rounds of ammunition, explosive components, and commercial fireworks. Agents also found more than 120 marijuana plants, Martin said.

One of the raids took place at a trailer and another at a house not far from Collinsville School.

"Certinly, they're [militias] always fomenting talk ... they were trying to acquire, stockpile weapons for what they see as maybe some inevitable conflict. This is pretty common in militia groups — they sort of gravitate toward all these exotic military weapons," ATF Special Agent in Charge Jim Cavanaugh in Nashville, Tenn., told FOX News on Friday.

But he said it's not common to find the types of improvised rifle grenades found in Thursday's raid. It's a "very unusual seizure," he said.

Those in custody aren't being charged with any plot to use the grenades against anyone, however, but will be charged with weapons possession and stockpiling.

"These are people who operate in sort of a fringe paranoia world, they feel they need all these weapons to exist, they're somewhat fearful," Cavanaugh said.

School district officials cancelled classes for about 650 students from grades kindergarten through 12 because of the swarm of police vehicles.

"We were going to delay school but because of the possibility of explosives at the residences, we felt it was safer not to have school," DeKalb Sheriff Jimmy Harris said.

Sources told FOX News that the six suspects were involved in manufacturing homemade weapons and explosives, and that one of the suspects had tried to sell hand grenades to undercover federal agents. The group has also allegedly been involved in the sales and distribution of other types of explosive devices and weapons, but the nature of these has not yet been revealed.

"Today's arrest and search warrants have been significant due to the success of the combined efforts by ATF, as well as our state, local and federal partners," Cavanaugh said Thursday. "The communities in the area are safer, considering the fact that large quantities of live grenades and other explosive materials have been safely removed. Excellent investigative team work led us to this point in our investigation."

I wonder which of these guys was the snitch?

Remember, folks, you don't need to build your own grenades--the Blackwater troops have far nicer ones, and all you need to do to get them is shoot one in the back.

It was the one that came up with the idea of IEDs and grenades.

It always is.

Andreas Carl Strassmeir was videotaped describing how to build grenades.

"....Bold Lies

But let's drop back to [ATF Agent] Mr. [Jim] Cavanaugh. Over and over again, Cavanaugh is caught — on audio and video tape — in one lie after another. One outstanding example is a recording of his telephone negotiations with Koresh while federal agents are firing on the Davidian complex from helicopters. Cavanaugh begins by asserting, "Well, I think we need to first set the record straight, and that is that there was [sic] no guns on those helicopters." To which Koresh heatedly retorts, "That's a lie ... Jim, you're a damn liar!" Cavanaugh then says, "I said they didn't shoot. There's no guns on —" to which Koresh repeatedly responds: "YOU'RE A DAMN LIAR!" Cavanaugh pauses, knowing he's caught in a lie, then comes back with this weasel-worded response intended to pacify Koresh: "What I'm saying is that those helicopters didn't have mounted guns. OK? I'm not disputing that there may have been fire from the helicopters...."

At the House hearings, Cavanaugh nearly broke into tears as he described how the ATF agents were outgunned by the big, bad Davidians. "They were throwing everything at us .... They were hitting us with .223s, AK-47s, .50 calibers," he blurted emotionally. But he was contradicted by retired ATF Deputy Director Dan Hartnett, who told the House investigation, "We weren't outgunned at Waco, that's for sure."

Cavanaugh was also refuted by the ATF's own videotapes, which show a heavily armed force of ATF agents, and by the local 911 tapes, on which the Davidians are pleading with the operator for help from someone — anyone — to get the ATF to stop the shooting. The ATF agents finally stopped shooting —after they ran out of ammo. As various witnesses pointed out, if the Koresh disciples were truly intent on killing the ATF agents, they could have mowed them down as they retreated helpless across the open fields. But they allowed the ATF to flee unmolested......"

"....BATF agents told their expected lies about the terrible "ambush" in which dozens of Davidians sprayed them with machine guns, .50 caliber rifles and grenades. Republicans barely countered these assertions. Although a staffer admitted they had the Waco-Tribune Herald photograph (included in my book) of agents crouched in the open in front of Mount Carmel's front door, obviously not being ambushed, they chose not to display it They only displayed photographs of agents hiding behind automobiles. No representatives were aware of the fact that the FBI did not find even one .50 caliber bullet which showed evidence of being fired. (I passed out copies of the trial transcript where the FBI weapons expert admitted that fact.)

Tearful BATF agent Jim Cavanaugh cried that Davidians had cannons and BATF had popguns--i.e., only 9-millimeter handguns. He claimed BATF was outgunned. However, earlier former BATF official Daniel Hartnett declared they were not. And earlier testimony established BATF agents carried high- powered 15 AR-15 rifles. (Trial testimony established many carried MP-5 submachine guns.) Agent Gerald Petrilli, who attended most of the hearing, was asked to take a public bow by Representative Heineman because he had received 47 entry wounds from a grenade. Of course, at trial Petrilli admitted the wounds might have been made by shotgun pellets. This didn't stop Petrilli from fooling Congress.

Davidians and their attorneys could not dispute BATF's allegations until much later, after they were entrenched in the public mind....."

And we should believe this man?

This sounds like psy-ops for the sheeple, in anticipation of the Stupremes banning the second amendment.

Can't wait for judicial-inc take on this. I won't be surprised if they all prove to be dual citizens, and get a free flight to Israel.

I agree.

There's no crime in sitting around with neighbors and bitching about the gov't, so we'd better manufacture one.
