In an article in the "New Yorker", Seymour Hersh says that the president got up to 400 million dollars in a “Presidential Finding” and that top democrats were involved. An unidentified source told Hersh: "The finding was focused on undermining Iran's nuclear ambitions and trying to undermine the government through regime change." The funds were requested at the same time that a US National Intelligence Estimate late last year stated that Iran had halted any kind of Nuclear Weapons program they may have had by 2003. Despite the report the Bush administration and many in congress continue to talk about Iran as a nuclear threat. In an interview with CNN, Hersh talked about Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney: "They believe that their mission is to make sure that before they get out of office next year, either Iran is attacked or it stops its weapons program," As well, a non-binding resolution with bipartisan support is moving quickly through the house. The resolution calls on the White House to ban the export to Iran, of refined petroleum or gasoline and for "stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran," and would give the President free reign in dealing with Iran including a naval blockade.

As the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, doesn't this make Obama the leader of his party? Why isn't this supposed peace candidate circumventing this secret war from happening by standing on his soapbox and screaming his condemnation at the top of his lungs? How many people think it's possible that Hersh knows this is happening but Obama doesn't? Those that do, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you real cheap.

I'll tell you why we hear nothing from Obama. Because he's full of shit that's why. He's a made member of the two party fraud and is neck deep in the machinations being perpetrated by that fraud.

An early candidate for Post of the Weekend I'd have to say.

Recently, Obama has agreed with Justice Scalia on the death penalty, guns and govt. wire tapping. His cultists dismiss this as being politically expedient, and that he will return to the left once in office. One even went as far as to suggest if the nation went socialist, we can always return to a constitutional republic in time. That it has no political precedent doesn't disturb delusions.

I have now completely changed my thinking. I used to think, because of knee-jerk racism, there was no way McInsane could fail to pile up at least 300 EVs.

Now, I believe, provided he lives, Obama WILL be handed the White House and made the scapegoat for this depression. People will barely even remember Dubya was in office a year from now. It will be ALL the fault of that scoundrel darky. Rush and Sean will remind us of this day after day.

All Dem "leaders" are vetted by AIPAC (in fact, without Jews' money, the Democrats would have run out of funding decades ago), so Hersh is making news here about like me saying the sun came up in the east here this morning.

There is no challenge greater than the defense of our nation and our values. The men and women of our military –-– have signed up at a time when our troops face an ever-increasing load. Fighting a resurgent Taliban. Targeting al Qaeda. Persevering in the deserts and cities of Iraq. Training foreign militaries. Delivering humanitarian relief. In this young century, our military has answered when called, even as that call has come too often. Through their commitment, their capability, and their courage they have done us all proud.

But we need to ease the burden on our troops, while meeting the challenges of the 21st century. That’s why I will call on a new generation of Americans to join our military, and complete the effort to increase our ground forces by 65,000 soldiers and 27,000 Marines. ~Obama

after this by obama, i don't know what to expect. i thought he had it sewn up. i think that's changed the dynamics. otoh, i can't imagine the blowback if the republicans appear to have stolen another one especially with the added race factor. interesting times ahead for sure.

Great post. I agree 100%. If Obama took enough Ex-Lax to clean him out he would fit in a matchbox--a small matchbox.

Seymour Hersh says Democratic Party leaders signed on to secret war against

Scurilous and misleading spin, cristine.

The actual headline on the Hersh article:

Preparing the Battlefield

An excerpt from that article:

In other words, SOME members of the Democratic leadership—Congress has been under Democratic control since the 2006 elections—were willing, in secret, to go along with the Administration in expanding covert activities directed at Iran, while the Party’s presumptive candidate for President, Barack Obama, has said that he favors direct talks and diplomacy.

Perhaps because he was a Constitutional Law professor?

An early candidate for Post of the Weekend I'd have to say.

We rarely agree, but ...

Another excerpt from the article:

A Democratic senator told me that, late last year, in an off-the-record lunch meeting, Secretary of Defense Gates met with the Democratic caucus in the Senate. (Such meetings are held regularly.) Gates warned of the consequences if the Bush Administration staged a preëmptive strike on Iran, saying, as the senator recalled, “We’ll create generations of jihadists, and our grandchildren will be battling our enemies here in America.” Gates’s comments stunned the Democrats at the lunch, and another senator asked whether Gates was speaking for Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. Gates’s answer, the senator told me, was “Let’s just say that I’m here speaking for myself.” (A spokesman for Gates confirmed that he discussed the consequences of a strike at the meeting, but would not address what he said, other than to dispute the senator’s characterization.)

I am previously on record as supporting Gates for Secy of Defense in Obama's cabinet. He is one of a tiny number of patriots that slipped into the Bush administration (Bush has been totally incompetent in every aspect).
