Title: Zogby: Obama has electoral college majority; Barr has 6% support

A new nationwide poll shows Barack Obama securing a majority of electoral college votes over Republican opponent John McCain in a new state-by-state poll.

The Zogby Interactive online survey also shows Libertarian Candidate Bob Barr shaping up as a substantial factor in this year's election, pulling 6 percent of the vote. (He was substantially outperforming then-Green Party candidate Ralph Nader at a similar point in the 2000 campaign)

The poll was conducted June 11-30 among more than 46,000 likely voters.

If the election were held today, Obama would win 273 electoral votes, enough to hand him the presidency, according to Zogby's tally. McCain would receive 160 electoral votes, leaving 105 up for grabs. Obama is the choice of 44 percent of voters surveyed, compared to 38 percent who prefer McCain. Other projections, like the one being maintained at FiveThirtyEight.com, have Obama winning with as many as 308 electoral votes.

Pollster John Zogby said Barr "could really hurt McCain's chances," pointing to the former Georgia Republican's 7 percent support among conservative or very conservative voters, 43 percent support from libertarians and 11 percent showing with independents.

Liberal gadfly Nader, now running as an Independent, is polling at less than 2 percent in the latest survey.

Obama's campaign has been paying attention to Barr, saying he could help them in states like Alaska and Georgia.

Most observers blamed Nader for siphoning votes from Gore in 2000, especially in Florida, handing the White House to George W. Bush.

The Zogby poll released Monday shows Barr is now well outperforming Nader at a similar point in the 2000 campaign. A June 2000 Zogby poll showed Nader receiving about 2 percent of the vote, just a third of Barr's level of support.

It does appear to be rigged.

There aren't too many candidates on the GOPer side who could not have beaten a black guy with a liberal voting record, even as the economy slides into the first depression in 80 years, but nominating McCain was akin to nominating a walking corpse.

The newest nickname I've seen for this zombie is "McThuselah."

Without funds and supporters McSwein was seemingly out of the running and came out of nowhere to win the nomination. It was as if some outside force, call it a "shadow government" were installing a straw man so Black Obama could waltz into the White House.

What's most ominous about the Obama movement is that it has the ingredients to create a black liberation army on American soil.

Life is a tragedy to those who feel, and a comedy to those who think.

I think that was Lincoln who already did that. Obama (assuming he had attained "freeman" status in 1861) would not have led a movement to free the slaves (nor did Lincoln, really, for that matter; it was a side effect of his genocidal campaign against the CSA). He's too "white" to do so. He is an establishment figure all the way

I like Obama as a personality. But there is absolutely nothing he can do about any of this. He will be known in history as the "black Jimmy Carter" (if he lives and I certainly wouldn't bet the farm on that one). A year from now, the Faux News and talk radio crowd will have convinced the public that EVERYTHING going wrong (and there'll be plenty more by then) is THE ENTIRE FAULT of the evil darky in the "Black House."

Sam...That has been true of every President I can recall back to and including FDR, NONE escaped bad things that happened on their watch. It would be a bit dishonest to acknowledge only the good and ignore the bad.

The darky thing is your own subscription. Bias has to be seen both ways also.

that's the way i see it. now, it's obvious with his recycled advisors, that obama, except for his race, doesn't represent any real change in business as usual in DC. so one must wonder what is the purpose of him as the selection.

I like Obama, too. I donb't believe he hates white folks. After all, for the most part he was raised by his white grandparents. What bothers me is that the Zionist media masters seem to have an agenda to put him in the White House.

What if some kind of KKK nut takes Obama out? How will ZOG respond?

Two things come to mind. Only Obama had NO money worries from day one, no begging, money flowed in.

Those that created Obama know his intended purpose. We can speculate.

It looks like he's being set up as the scapegoat for the coming financial collapse of the country and the coming winter heating fuel crisis, with potentially hundreds of thousands of people freezing to death in their homes.

Like Sam said, "the black Jimmy Carter", but what's coming will make the problems back then look like a cakewalk by comparison.

I think this selection can be boiled down to a very simple, conspiracy free proposition. The Rs are a patrician lot and this was McCain's turn in the pot (see Bob Dole.) Obama, thanks to decades of multiculturalism and PC, is the color du jour and a media delight. Geraldine Ferraro nailed it w/she said he wouldn't be where he is if he weren't black. He has a 97% liberal voting record as a Senator, and he managed to make Hillary Clinton look mainstream during the nomination process. Neither McCain nor Obama are what the founders had in mind when they picked up their muskets at Concord.

The Dems and GOP should be thankful for third party candidates. When a Democrat or a Republican loses, they can bitch about third party "spoilers stealing their votes" instead of owning up to the fact that they ran a lousy candidate. The truth can be so hard to face.

So if McCain loses, Barr will be their scapegoat, just like Nader was for Gore. Never mind that 95% of people who vote Libertarian or Green wouldn't have voted GOP or Democrat anyway.

Why would the powers that be want Obama out? He'll do their bidding for them, just as he promised AIPAC. Otherwise the mass media wouldn't have been all gaga about the empty suit from his Senate campaign on.

The only people likely to kill Obama would be Clinton cronies, should Obama select Hillary as his VP. The Clinton body count has shown that they'll do just about anything to crawl to the top of the trash heap.

As always, the ruling elite can make any choice of theirs president.

Just possibly Obama may add something to their desires that others do not.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe not. But he certainly surrounds himself with "hate whitey" types. What would the mainstream media say about any white conservative politician who, while never caught making racial remarks himself, went to the Church where the preacher was a Klansman and otherwise surrounded himself with Klansmen?

Reagan used to do that sort of thing and managed to win both election and reelection without any problem.

And, unlike the Chimp, Reagan ACTUAlLY DID win the elections of 1980 and 1984. It wasn't even close, either time.

IMO the purpose of his selection is to die when the elite determine (probably before the election) so they can get the mass race riots they are hoping for and declare national martial law.

My thoughts also however I don't think he has to die in order to trigger a race riot. All he has to do is lose the election to cause rioting, that's it..

Lady X, I have a PhD in riots. There will be either a celebratory riot or a losers riot. Either way, there will be a riot.

Then we would have had Presidents Dukakis, and perhaps even Gore and Kerry.
