A pamphlet warning Britons to leave the Middle East or face death has come to light in a stash of illicit propaganda.

The document does not hail from Basra or Baghdad, nor was it penned by the Islamists of al-Qaeda or the al-Mahdi Army. It was found in Haifa, about 60 years ago, and it was issued by the underground group led by Menachem Begin – the future Prime Minister of Israel and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The document, which surfaced at an auction house this week, is addressed to “the soldiers of the occupation army” and aimed at British soldiers serving in Palestine, then under the British Mandate, preceding the establishment of Israel in 1948. The print has faded and the paper has discoloured since it was unearthed from a grove of trees in Haifa in the summer of 1947. Yet the language and the concerns remain current.

Despite its 16th-century birth in revolutionary anarchism, the Protestant movement of Christianity had settled down within a century to become a conservative, if somewhat divided, religious establishment. The record of modern infiltration by Amaleki revolutionaries can be traced to at least the late 1700s, when the underground organization known as the Illuminati, based in Germany, actively recruited Protestant ministers to serve as infiltrating agents within Christianity.1 They were assigned the mission of spreading propaganda in disguised form, preparing Christian followers to participate in the world revolution without realizing what they were doing.

By the late 1800s, the Illuminati and its allied secret societies had given birth to the Communist International, and the hidden influence of Marxism was making its way to Christianity in the United States through American ministers trained in Europe. Having spread widely among all Protestant denominations, Marxist subversion began surfacing openly in 1908 with the founding of the Federal Council of Churches (FCC). Its published social and political agenda, or “Social Creed,” so brazenly advocated the Communist line on a variety of issues that in 1935 U.S. Naval Intelligence raised alarm bells of subversion.2 As the mask dropped and the new, leftist movement of “modernism” was unveiled in thousands of American churches, conservative members of the clergy rebelled and began breaking away from the established organizations and denominations. Led by such figures as Princeton University theologian J. Gresham Machen and Presbyterian minister Carl McIntire, the dissenters formed a movement for a return to the fundamental beliefs of Protestant Christianity — “fundamentalism” — which grew steadily, enough to interfere with the FCC’s goal of unifying all denominations under its program.3

Their momentum having been disrupted, the Communists tried again in 1950 with the founding of the National Council of Churches (NCC) in Cleveland, Ohio, which quickly absorbed many entire Protestant denominations encompassing tens of millions of members.4 Its agenda was no less radical than its FCC predecessor; the NCC consistently pushed the hard Communist line on virtually every political and social issue, while its top officials and allies have included numerous Communists and their close collaborators.5

At about the same time, Communists from America and other countries established the World Council of Churches (WCC), headquartered to this day in Geneva, Switzerland. The WCC likewise worked hard to support the Communist agenda among Protestant and Eastern Orthodox churches worldwide, and its leadership was drawn from Communists not only in America and Western Europe, but also in the Soviet Union, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, and elsewhere. The WCC soon pulled together the American NCC and various parallel “National Councils of Churches” in nations all around the globe.6

During the 1960s, the growing radicalism of the NCC and WCC sparked an equally strong backlash among Protestant Christians, who began streaming out of the Marxist-tainted denominations into new, more independent fundamentalist churches led by conservative clergy.7 Already by the early 1970s, the rebellion was spreading rapidly throughout the Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, and other denominations, with tens of millions choosing more traditional beliefs while the NCC-affiliated churches were actually losing membership.8 By the late 1970s, the revolt had grown into a full-fledged movement with conservative political influence, led by such prominent ministers as Jerry Falwell and his Moral Majority organization.9 Fundamentalist backlash continued to grow throughout the 1980s and 1990s; by 1993, one out of every three Americans professed belief that “the Bible is the actual word of G-d and is to be taken literally, word for word.”10

Although the size and persistence of the fundamentalist reaction caught the Communists by surprise, they were prepared to deal with some degree of opposition. Beginning in the 1920s, while the radical agenda of “modernism” and the “social gospel” were triggering the first wave of fundamentalist revolt, a parallel “evangelical” movement was arising and mixing itself among the fundamentalists, struggling with some success to make the two movements appear to be one and the same. Over the decades, evangelical leaders such as Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse, Billy Graham, Hal Lindsey, and Chuck Missler, and organizations such as the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and Fuller Theological Seminary, have alternated between trying to neutralize conservative Christian political activism and trying to pull fundamentalist Christians leftward into the Marxist camp — or at least into a collaborating leftist activism. Wolves Among the Clergy

Since its founding in the mid-1800s, the Communist International has always made its war against religion a high priority. Communist spokesman Karl Marx labeled religion an “opium,” a drug that interferes with revolution and must therefore be stamped out.

Nikolai Lenin, first Soviet dictator, fully agreed. In 1967, the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities issued a report entitled, “The New Communist Propaganda Line on Religion.” That report quoted Lenin as declaring in 1909, “Marxism is… relentlessly hostile to religion.”

Every Communist regime in the entire world has fought bitterly against religion, whether Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or Buddhism. Religious practices are restricted or suppressed; clergy are infiltrated and persecuted; and the population is subjected to ongoing atheistic propaganda.

But the Communists have found that most people aren’t willing to give up religious beliefs. So Marxism had to develop a new strategy to mobilize religious people for revolution, using them as ignorant pawns to prepare the way for an atheist, Communist regime.

A 1991 issue of The African Communist, journal of the South African Communist Party, quoted Soviet Communist leader Lenin as saying, “We must not only admit the workers who preserve their belief in G-d into our party, but we must deliberately set out to recruit them.”

Many Communist organizations over the years have echoed the goal of working from inside religion, their hated enemy. One example was the July, 1966 issue of Political Affairs, a publication of the Communist Party, USA. In it were several articles on “Communism and Religion”; the 1967 congressional report mentioned earlier summarized that publication as follows:“The basic message of this special issue of the Communist organ was that communism and religion are no longer incompatible, that Christians and Communists can work together, and that they should do so.”

Communism in religious disguise has been appearing on a worldwide scale for decades. Among Protestant and Eastern Orthodox Christians, the most prominent organization is the World Council of Churches, which promotes Marxist propaganda using Christian, Biblical language, and which actively finances terrorist groups. Among Catholic Christians, Marxism calls itself “Liberation Theology” and incites followers to join violent revolution, while using churches as bases of support for the revolutionaries. Among Jews, the Marxist agenda is expressed through the “Reform” movement, which indoctrinates and recruits its followers to march in protests and to donate to “black power” revolutionaries and other left-wing causes. In the Muslim world, Communist goals are promoted through the movement of “Islamic Marxism” and groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood. Among Buddhists in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and other countries, the Marxist agenda is advanced under a variety of labels.

But while these movements have done much to promote disarmament, labor unions, abortion, and terrorist groups, they have failed to win over the more traditional followers of each religion. That is, until recently.

Now, even in the most conservative religious movements, voices are being heard advocating similar goals. In Evangelical and conservative Catholic circles, there’s a push for socialistic measures, environmentalism, and even for supporting the Soviet-created PLO and its war against Israel. In orthodox and Hasidic Jewish communities, one can find environmentalism, abortion, and Public Health radicalism starting to creep in. And among conservative Muslims, there’s a growing push for feminism and socialism.

Marxist radicalism used to be found only on the political Left. But agents of revolution have been quietly infiltrating the “right” as well, and one day soon, you may be waking up to find clergy who once seemed “conservative” suddenly veering sharply leftward.

"What consequences should be faced by U.S. soldiers in Iraq who killed detainees?" Answers were down this week, apparently because many readers don't know too much about this news issue. Most responses favored the soldiers and said they shouldn't be punished — or should even be rewarded — but a minority disagreed and advocated giving the soldiers the death penalty for murder. Here are excerpts of some relevant comments:

* "If soldiers capture soldiers of the enemy, and these become their detainees… there is no reason to kill them…" * "These 'detainees' are murderers themselves!" * "The detainees are… conducting mass murder…"

Factual Background: Rules of civilized warfare were gradually developed over the centuries, as nations learned to fight with less barbarism and destruction against civilians. Soldiers were sent to battlefields away from cities and residential dwellings, in brightly colored uniforms for clear identification, to settle conflicts almost in the manner of a polite duel.

But then came Communism, and all the rules went out the window. Everywhere in the world, Communists instantly proved themselves to be unconditionally amoral, cutthroat, savage terrorists who specifically aimed their military force against the weak and the helpless more than on the battlefield. Women, children, the elderly, the handicapped — these became the primary targets in war, subject not just to murder, but to systematically calculated, brutal torture-murder, often involving physical dismemberment of people in front of their hysterical families for maximum terrifying effect. Murder was multiplied to genocide, the mass murder of hundreds of thousands or even millions at a time, with the aim of the total dissolution of society and civilization.

On the battlefield, Communist revolutionaries chose to hide behind civilians wherever they could, and then to blame the deaths of those hostages on the anti-Communist enemy defending themselves. Communist soldiers stopped wearing uniforms, generally preferring to disguise themselves as civilians and conducting ambushes and traps rather than conventional warfare out in the open. And once "defeated," the Communists would simply start all over again as if the war had never ended — which, in effect, it hadn't. Prisoners of war held by the Communists were either brainwashed and recruited to be secret Communist agents when they returned to their own army, or would be tortured and massacred as prisoners. Communists captured by the other side, in contrast, would bide their time until being released, and then would promptly return and murder more civilians as rapidly and brutally as possible, without the slightest remorse.

Nations under Communist attack quickly learned that one cannot leave Communist prisoners alive. The White Russian armies were forced, against their Christian ethics, to execute every single Red Army prisoner they captured. Vietnamese discovered they had to do the same, or else those prisoners would return to commit savage crimes against humanity. The same was learned by the Indonesians, the Congolese, the Chileans, the Spaniards, etc., etc. Nations that wouldn't finish the job and kill at least a large percentage of the Communists after capturing them, that showed mercy to Communist prisoners, wouldn't survive the revolution, and ultimately plunged into Communist genocide and nihilism.

The pure evil of Communism is once again being seen in Iraq. The revolution is carried out entirely by the Baathist Socialist Party network of millions, which went underground when the Americans unexpectedly won the war in 2003. As an arm of the Communist International in general, and of Soviet Russia in particular, the Baathist network functions exactly like Communists all over the world. Its terrorists today ruthlessly murder thousands of Iraqi civilians every month, including (or especially) women and children. When taking over Iraqi cities, they enforce a savage reign of terror over the population, exactly as under Saddam Hussein. When released from captivity, they return to the killing fields to spread more murder and chaos.

Iraqis themselves, who had lived under the Communist regime since 1958, knew fully well what had to be done, and widely hoped that the Americans would exterminate all Baathists at the end of the war. When the Americans didn't, the Iraqis could see the handwriting on the wall: Saddam Hussein and his Republican Guards would be returning to power, sooner or later.

American soldiers have been placed under no-win rules by the Bush Administration that guarantee they cannot win — or even protect Iraqis. Our troops were forced to abandon cities to Baathist/Communist control, to allow the terrorists to operate almost unhampered, to restrain the use of military power that would defeat the enemy, and to simply wait to be attacked and killed. They witness firsthand the horrible evil committed by the revolutionaries, and they're helpless to do anything about it.

A person with any humanity, any compassion at all, cannot continue to stand by while helpless Iraqis are butchered. Orders or no orders, a soldier with a moral conscience knows there comes a time to disobey treasonous or criminal orders. And so he knows he must kill at least the worst of those prisoners.

We don't know the details and circumstances of the soldiers accused of killing detainees, but we have a pretty good idea why they did it (assuming they did). And we know why the Bush Administration is so eager to prosecute and punish those soldiers while allowing the Baathist/Communist terrorists to roam free — because President Bush is determined to see that the Communists, and Saddam Hussein, return to power over Iraq.

Relevant Torah Principles: 1) In any war, whether for conquest or for defense, Torah Law requires Jews to fight by any means necessary to achieve victory. No restrictions may be placed on the soldiers, not even to protect civilians; every measure must be taken to win as quickly and effectively as possible. If the enemy hides behind civilians, that doesn't allow Jewish armies to hesitate in the slightest to carpet-bomb the enemy, regardless of how many civilians will be killed. Those civilians deaths are the responsibility of the terrorists who hide behind them, not of the army that fights the terrorists.

2) The Torah apparently forbids gentiles from wars of conquest, at least for the sake of conquest itself. But defensive wars are both permitted and required, and can include offensive attacks, and even conquest, for the purpose of strategic security. As long as the war is fought for such a legitimate purpose, the rules of required victory for Jews presumably apply equally to gentiles (unless fighting Jewish armies, in which case they're required to surrender, as stated explicitly in the Bible).

3) In the case of Amalek, the Torah instructs us that we must fight differently than against normal forces. To earn G-d's blessing for victory, a nation must make an absolute commitment not just to defeat, but to annihilate, the armies under Amaleki control — including the "civilian" support structures; failure to finish the extermination means that surviving Amalekim will return to start all over again, the tragic mistake made by King Saul out of a misplaced mercy (I Samuel 15).

4) The Torah also teaches other rules for winning against Amaleki armies, rules quite different from combat against other nations. These are many and complex principles that warn about Amaleki traps and ambushes, witchcraft and sorcery, psychological warfare, infiltration and subversion, protracted quagmire conflicts, etc. All these rules must be learned and followed to achieve victory, or else a nation confronted by Amaleki-led forces is doomed.

5) The rabbinical sages in the period shortly after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple by the Romans, particularly during the Bar Kochba revolt, were caught in a bitter dispute over whether the Biblical nation of Amalek still existed. Either it had been wiped out a few centuries earlier in Persia (a position implicitly taken by Rabbi Akiva and Bar Kochba, among others) or it had survived underground as a network of revolutionary secret societies quietly infiltrating social institutions of Jews and gentiles alike. For reasons too complex and involved to review here, the defeat of Bar Kochba and his Jewish armies proved the second view correct. In other words, it was definitively established that Amalek survives underground and would only be defeated at some point in the distant future. Amalek has been seen to resurface in recent centuries, primarily in the French Revolution, Communism, Nazism (National Socialism), and related movements, all of which reflect the distinct, unique characteristics of Amalek not seen in any other nation or movement. Regardless of which nations are under Amaleki control (Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, etc.), they function not as their former selves but rather as Amaleki forces, and must be treated as populations held hostage and forced to participate in Amalek's revolution. Only by the total annihilation of Communist networks in those nations (military and civilian alike) can the other 95 percent of the people be liberated and return to normality.

Analysis: Since Communist detainees and POWs are not like those of other nations, the normal rules against executing prisoners do not apply in Iraq. The U.S. is required under Torah to achieve immediate victory, and that means the annihilation of over one million Iraqi Baathists and secret police informants, including "civilians" who don't directly participate in terrorism.

But that won't happen until we impeach and remove traitors from high positions, including the entire Bush Administration and a number of Congressmen and civil servants at the State Department, CIA, etc.

If we commit ourselves before G-d that we won't stop with victory, but rather that we'll see the conflict through to the complete extermination of the enemy, we may be able to receive His blessing for success. Otherwise, America is in for deep trouble from a determined enemy.
