Nearly Fifty Percent of Americans Think U.S. Should Help Israel Attack Iran

Kurt Nimmo

Infowars

July6 20, 2008

If we are to believe the results of a Rasmussen poll released on July 20, an astounding number of Americans have no problem helping Israel attack Iran. “Forty-two percent (42%) of Americans say that if Israel launches an attack against Iran, the United States should help Israel. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 46% believe the United States should do nothing while just 1% believe the U.S. should help Iran.”

Moreover, once again demonstrating a complete ignorance of history and an absence of rational thinking — predictable, considering most Americans receive their historical and political education from the corporate media — 47% “believe it is at least somewhat likely Iran will try to provoke some form of attack before November in an attempt to influence the U.S. elections.”

In other words, so important is the American election to the Iranians, they will court the sort of chaos and social disintegration currently underway in Iraq to determine the outcome of the American election, an absurdity at best. But then Americans excel at buying into absurdities, the more ludicrous the better.

It does not matter who ends up in the Oval Office, be it McCain or Obama, because the policy toward Iran will be similar, if not identical. If this poll demonstrates anything, it is that the average voter of the sort polled by Rasmussen is effectively brainwashed and believes there is actually some sort of difference between Democrats and Republicans. Apparently, the Rasmussen voter also thinks the United States is at the center of the universe and all other nations pay close attention to our every political move before putting on their shoes in the morning. In fact, this sort of mindless “American exceptionalism” is resented and held in contempt by millions of people around the world.

In a normal, objective, historically accurate, and non-Bushzarro world, the Rasmussen voter would take into consideration the fact the British and the CIA worked directly with royalist Iranian military officers to overthrow the democratically elected government of Mohammad Mosaddeq and installed the brutal dictator Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and his SAVAK torturers.

Fox News Channel’s Brian Kilmeade employs lies and disinformation in a vicious tirade against the people of Iran.

“The coup was a turning point in modern Iranian history and remains a persistent irritant in Tehran-Washington relations. It consolidated the power of the shah, who ruled with an iron hand for 26 more years in close contact with the United States,” notes the Iran Chamber Society.

For the average American, however, the history of Iran begins with the takeover of the American embassy on November 4, 1979. “You have no right to complain, because you took our whole country hostage in 1953,” one of the hostage takers told Bruce Laingen, chief U.S. diplomat in Iran at the time (see Stephen Kinzer on US-Iranian Relations, the 1953 CIA Coup in Iran and the Roots of Middle East Terror). The Rasmussen voter is completely ignorant of this, thanks to decades of lopsided propaganda emanating from the corporate media.

In fact, it is the United States and Israel that are attempting to provoke an attack on Iran, not the other way around.

“An unnamed Israeli security official claims U.S. President George Bush will attack Iran late this year if talks on the Mideast nation’s nuclear program falter,” reports United Press International. “The Israeli Web site DEBKAfile.com, quoting Israel National Radio, reported Sunday that a ‘highly placed security-political’ official said Bush would order the attack between Nov. 4, the date of the U.S. presidential election, and his last day in office in January 2009 should Iran not agree to abandon its efforts to enrich uranium.” DEBKAfile is a documented Israeli intelligence asset and it is indicative the UPI would quote what is obviously pro-Israeli propaganda.

Once again, the corporate media is in the process of preparing the American people for an illegal invasion of a sovereign country at the behest of the neocons. It is no mistake the airwaves are rife with propaganda, on occasion quite vicious, for example the tirade of Fox News Channel’s Brian Kilmeade (see video above), a tirade predicated on lies allowed to go out without response.

Is it any wonder the average American, or at least the “Rasmussen voter” — incapable of breaking the voodoo spell of the corporate media — will once again support a premeditated mass murder campaign?

What do you expect? Nancy Pelosi said impeachment was off the table, and Obama just calls the Iraq war a "war of choice" which was merely a "distraction" and a "mistake."

Like all criminals, until Bush is held to account for his crimes, he'll keep committing them.

I've already said too much.

I call a spade a spade. This is a bullshit poll.

Just a few weeks ago a worldwide opinion poll indicated that by a clear majority Americans had a poor opinion of Israel ( 59%) and 71% of Americans stated that they wanted the US to be neutral with regards to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

So how come in 2-3 weeks, this Rasmussen poll shows a sudden about face of Americans' opinions of Israel?

Bullshit.

This poll shows only the sentiments of American Jews and those of sold-out US politicians, not AmericaFirst Americans.

Israel

Israel receives the worst ratings, with most saying they are not doing their part very well in 13 out of 15 countries asked. On average, 54 percent say it is not doing its part well (31% not very, 23% not at all) while just 22 percent say it is (5% very, 17% somewhat).

Negative ratings of Israel are not confined to predominantly Muslim publics--the largest majorities saying Israel is not doing its part well include Egypt (88%), South Korea (69%), Indonesia (66%), France (64%), the United States (59%), Azerbaijan (59%), Mexico (57%), and Great Britain (57%).

Only in India do more say that Israel is doing its part than do not (35% to 25%), while the Chinese are divided (41% to 39%).

In addition, the Palestinians were asked to evaluate Israel (though they are not included in the averages). Not surprisingly, 81 percent say that Israel is not doing its part well (61%, not at all well). Just 13 percent say that it is (4% very well).

I agree.

And, I suspect that Rasmussen calls "reliable sources" to achieve the desired results the same way that The Nielsen folks call certain homes and say, "There's an exciting new show coming on channel 6 tonight in one hour!" in order to push the black boxes right where they want them to go.

And, if a pollster stands outside a Yeshiva or CUNY the "random poll results" can be skewed with a high degree of reliability.
