From one of the photos... "On Black Tuesday, October twenty-ninth, the market collapsed. In a single day, sixteen million shares were traded--a record--and thirty billion dollars vanished into thin air.
Lots of sad stories but "smart money" profited in the crash. www.stock-market-crash.net/1929.htm The 1929 stock market crash was beneficial for some, however. Jesse Livermore correctly forecasted the economic crisis and shorted. He made over 100 million dollars! Joseph Kennedy, John F. Kennedy’s father, sold before the 1929 stock market crash and kept millions in profit. Kennedy decided to sell because he overheard shoeshine boys and other novices speculating on stocks. Livermore and Kennedy were individuals are known as the “smart money”, who profit regardless if the market is skyrocketing or plummeting.

I believe we may all see ourselves in similar photos in the very near future...
I just love how the photos which featured signs of segregation were not commented on...It's is the way AMERICA deals with race relations. SILENTLY!
hi texaslvr, to which particular photos are you referring and did you mean there are no comments under the photos at the site or no specific comments posted here addressing that issue? i would guess that most viewing the photographs paid little attention to the race of the poor and suffering pictured. i know i didn't. welcome to 4um, btw.

what is it that you think i don't want to see? the focus of this montage of photos is the poor victims, black and white alike, of the great depression.

I was simply stating the obvious...details or insight to the plight of Blacks during the depression were neglected or omitted in these photos. For the sake of argument, just look at the captions and notice how the two which highlighted Blacks gave little to no information.
