DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach, a leading Republican moderate with a foreign policy background, is endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president.

The former Iowa congressman's backing was announced Tuesday as part of a group of GOP activists crossing party lines this year.

Leach told reporters: "I'm convinced that the national interest demands a new approach to our interaction with the world." Leach added that Obama offers the leadership to do that.

Leach lost his bid for another term in office in 2006. He was a foreign service officer before being elected to Congress.

Leach predicted that a lot of Republicans and independents are going to be attracted by Obama's campaign.

Leach is a slimeball whose whole goal while in congress was to serve banking masters. He was a major force behind Know Your Customer legislation. Nothing gubmint does is too bad or egregious when its against the peons!

He now teaches someplace like Yale, Harvard, or Princeton--got to raise up more bastards like himself, I reckon.

As to endorsing, I would expect nothing else from RINOS. Party loyalty, country loyalty? Hah! Just let us get on the road to the downfall of 'merika--fast!

McCain is just as much a "RINO" as Leach, and has just as little loyalty to his country. Who cares if somebody is loyal to the GOP or not? Neither the GOP nor the Democrats deserve anybody's loyalty.

McCain doesn't give any more of a damn about America than Obama does. Both of them care more about Mexican illegals than they do about the American people. So as bad as Obama is, I can't get too upset when somebody crosses (phony) party lines one way or the other.

I am aware of what you said. Perhaps my wording should have been done a little better......the scumball had no party loyalty, nor country loyalty. His is a world of socialism, and one-worldness.

I certainly do not advocate nor condone party loyalty over the nation or family or God.
