HARTFORD, Conn.Hartford officials are ready to enforce an emergency curfew aimed at curtailing violence by getting anyone younger than 18 off the streets by 9 p.m. The curfew, which takes effect Thursday night, is in response to recent violence, including a weekend shooting that left one man dead and six young people wounded.
City officials have clarified conditions of the curfew which will target teenagers who are loitering.
Anyone under the age of 18 loitering on the streets will be picked up unless accompanied by his or her parents or guardian or an adult approved by the parent or guardian.
Mayor Eddie Perez's office says if a loiterer is under the age of 18, he or she will be given a written warning and taken home.
