The United States Secret Service has dispatched a protective detail to assume the immediate protection of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., a source tells ABC News, indicating in all likelihood that Biden has been officially notified that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has selected him to be his running mate.

Sources also tell ABC News that two others said to be finalists for the position of Obama's running mate -- Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Virginia Gov Tim Kaine -- have been told they have not been selected to be Obama's running mate.

Kaine flew to Denver earlier today, is in Denver tonight and has no plans to leave in the next 24 hours. Bayh is at his Washington, DC, home with his family.

Biden was last seen minutes ago at his Wilmington estate where his extended brood is gathering.

The Obama campaign would not comment, but Obama mentioned Biden twice in speeches on the trail this week, both times heralding his legislative leadersip in East Asia.

At the VFW convention in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday, Obama said, "we must help Georgia rebuild that which has been destroyed. That is why I’m proud to join my friend, Senator Joe Biden, in calling for an additional $1 billion in reconstruction assistance for the people of Georgia."

And in Chesapeake, Virginia, Friday night, Obama heralded Biden's efforts to provide economic assistance to Afghanistan.

"I joined with people like Joe Biden to increase a billion dollars of investment," he said.

Since you asked, it seems to be of a 'chess move' type, meant to 'balance' Obama's youth and lack of experience in organizing or supporting the killing of foreigners so that we can sing 'America the Pretty' and be proud.

I always thought that Obama will go with a man that's very white to counter his blackness (man because 'women' are also viewed as oppressed minorities and he's an oppressed minority already). Biden meets the requirement and adds the 'experience' dimension of which McCain and, before McCain, Hillary claimed that they had and Obama didn't.

On the practical benefit of picking Biden, I stated recently that he was a big-mouth clown as a negative. It's possible that, within the context of McCain's infantile and loud attacks on Obama's 'celebrity' his qualities may help Obama a little. He is also well liked by the big heads on the TV.

On Biden's role, if Obama-Biden are elected, I don't believe that Biden will become Obama's Cheney. W let Cheney take charge of things because he's a complete moron and an ignoramus. Obama is well-read and intelligent. He might 'consult' with Biden, especially during his honeymoon but I doubt he would let Biden take charge of anything significant. I am also happy to notice that Biden is 65. This means that he is not likely to ever be president because the first time he could run for the job, if Obama-Biden win in 2008, would be at the age of 73.

These are my initial thoughts on the Obama-Biden.

The dream never dies for partisans of the two-party fraud. The Obamaphiles will happily embrace and defend the war in Iraq and the future war in Iran and any other war we fight once their man is in office just like the Bushtards embraced nation building once their savior took office.

The only difference we will see between an Obama administration and a Bush administration will be the people supporting them. The overall direction of the country is heading in will not change, nor will American hegeomy in the world.

Well... the 'American hegemony in the world' is changing whether 'we' like it or not and with or without Obama. The question is whether we are going to go down screaming and bleeding or we're going to do a softer landing.

In both World Wars we ended up standing and on top because we didn't get involved until later in the game. We may be able to end up on top one more time if we have the discipline to stay out of conflicts that don't concern us and let the Euros/Russians/Chinese/Arabs/Jews... whatever kill each other by the millions. Then we can sell them American-made coffins and grave-digging equipment and get rich in the process.

If it goes down at all it will go down screaming regardless of which party is in power. Those who control Obama-Biden and McCain-whoever will not go down without a fight. They don't care how many Americans their policies kill, nor do the majority of the American people for that matter. As long as it's not their family members do the dying. And it won't be because both the Obama and McCain administrations will continue to require the same military men to risk their lives over and over and over again, stop lossing them so that they cannot escape.

Obama's pick of Biden should prove to everyone that Obama's "change" is a fraud. Biden is the biggest pro-war/zionist/establishment shill in the Democratic Party. The only one who would have beaten him was Leiberman, but he's not a democrat anymore.

Not to worry though because it would not surprise me if McCain picked Leiberman for VP.
