Cops in Prince George’s County, Maryland, have a proud tradition to maintain. In May, a former county officer was sentenced to 45 years in prison for shooting two furniture delivery men at his home last year, one of them fatally. (He claims they attacked him.)

In June, a suspect jailed in the death of a local police officer was found strangled in his cell. Authorities have no idea how that could have happened.

It’s unlikely Mayor Cheye Calvo of Berwyn Heights, Maryland, was thinking of his county’s behaviorally challenged boys in beige when he got home from work on Tuesday July 29, saw a package addressed to his wife sitting on the front porch, and brought it inside, putting it on a table.

But he should have been.

The mayor went into the bedroom to change his clothes. He was wearing only his boxer shorts when cops with drawn guns kicked in the door and stormed in, screaming. They shot the couple’s two Labrador retrievers to death and seized the unopened package.

Which contained about 30 pounds of marijuana.

Police now admit the couple appear to have been the innocent victims of a scheme by two men to transport millions of dollars worth of marijuana by having it delivered to about half a dozen unsuspecting recipients.

The two men under arrest include a FedEx delivery driver. Investigators say the scheme involved having the delivery man drop off a package outside a home where he believed no one would be home. An accomplice would then come by a short time later and swoop it up.

A furious Mayor Calvo said last week that he and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, are asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the raid.

“We were harmed by the very people who took an oath to protect us,” says Mr. Calvo, part-time mayor of the middle-class Washington suburb of about 3,000 people, who works at a nonprofit foundation that runs boarding schools. His wife is a state finance officer.

Mr. Calvo insists the couple’s two black Labradors were gentle creatures. He says the cops apparently killed them “for sport,” gunning down one of them as it was running away. Neighbors say the dogs were so gentle they rarely even barked.

“Our dogs were our children,” said the 37-year-old part-time mayor. “They were the reason we bought this house, because it had a big yard for them to run in.”

The mayor says he was handcuffed in his boxer shorts for about two hours along with his mother-in-law, and that officers didn’t believe him when he told them he was the mayor. Prince George’s County police Chief Melvin High defends the way the raid was conducted, saying the dogs were killed because the officers felt “threatened.”

There’s a fresh excuse. One wonders if it might not be possible to recruit and train a few police officers who – suited up in bullet-resistant SWAT gear and brandishing loaded shotguns and assault rifles – could manage not to feel “threatened,” ALL the time.

Alternatively, perhaps the officers would feel less “threatened” if they stopped breaking into people’s houses and handcuffing them in their underwear on suspicion of possessing 30 pounds of controlled vegetables.

Police explain they’d been tracking the package that arrived on the Calvo-Tomsic porch – originally sent from Los Angeles – ever since it drew the attention of a drug-sniffing dog in Arizona.

Police intercepted it in Maryland and an undercover detective posing as a FedEx driver took it to the Calvo-Tomsic home – which explains why the real driver’s accomplice was not waiting to swoop in and grab the goods, this time.

The Berwyn Heights police chief says county officers had no right to enter the home without knocking. County goons reply their operation was compromised when Mr. Calvo’s mother-in-law saw officers approaching the house and screamed.

That could have given someone time to grab a gun or destroy evidence – providing their excuse for breaking in, county cops explained.

(Well, there you go: It was her own fault.)

Mayor Calvo says he’s astonished that police have not only failed to apologize, but have also declined to clear the couple’s names.

But that’s standard procedure, of course – holding the threat of prosecution over even the obviously innocent, to use as a bargaining chip should they feel motivated to file their own legal action.

The mayor’s lucky his home and bank accounts haven’t been seized.

Does anyone else sense a lack of proportionality, here? The customers who would have consumed that 30 pounds of hemp will eventually get their dope, somewhere else. Whereupon, stoned, they are highly unlikely to commit the kind of life-threatening mayhem in which the Prince George’s County narc squad indulged on July 29.

It’s only government agents who can engage with impunity in that kind of violence and terror.

Is there anyone who still doubts this blank check for murder and mayhem known as the “War on Drugs” has gone too far?

At the very least, any dogs belonging to those shooters should be taken away and offered for adoption into the homes of non-dog-killers. As for the officer’s children, let’s not be extreme: Perhaps it would be enough for Child Welfare workers to stop by their homes unannounced, once a month for the next few years … just to check.

After all, who knows when these violent men will next feel “threatened”?

Thanks for posting this, aside from it being a great article, for two reasons.

Alternatively, perhaps the officers would feel less “threatened” if they stopped breaking into people’s houses and handcuffing them in their underwear on suspicion of possessing 30 pounds of controlled vegetables.

In neighboring DC last week, they broke into a quite heavy, middle-aged black woman's home, pointed a gun at her (son?), told him to lie on the floor or they were going to shoot him, ordered her, who was totally NAKED, to get out of bed and also lie on the floor. She asked to at least put something on, and they wouldn't let her. They of course found nothing and no one was charged. She was still shaken up and crying real tears when she was interviewed by the news team. I hope she sues and bankrupts them.

The second reason, is, I didn't hear or see about the following; maybe I missed it, but I was reading an old newspaper, and noticed a blurb about this mayor being "known for his opposition to the driver's license provisions of the REAL ID Act and his extensive writings on genetics policy and privacy."

I just did a brief search. First, from the article, and the way I remember reading how the event transpired:

Police now admit the couple appear to have been the innocent victims of a scheme by two men to transport millions of dollars worth of marijuana by having it delivered to about half a dozen unsuspecting recipients.

The two men under arrest include a FedEx delivery driver. Investigators say the scheme involved having the delivery man drop off a package outside a home where he believed no one would be home. An accomplice would then come by a short time later and swoop it up.

A furious Mayor Calvo said last week that he and his wife, Trinity Tomsic, are asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the raid.

That's not the way it was first reported. From a forum:

Md. mayor's dogs killed by SWAT after cops deliver pot

Associated Press

Published: Thursday July 31, 2008

BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. — A SWAT team raided the home of a Washington, D.C.-area mayor, killing his two black Labrador retrievers and seizing an unopened package of marijuana delivered there.

Prince George's County Police said Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo brought a 32-pound package of marijuana into his home that had been delivered by officers posing as delivery men. The Tuesday evening raid was conducted by county police narcotics officers and a sheriff's office SWAT Team.

The package was addressed to Calvo's wife, Trinity Tomsic. His mother-in-law had asked the supposed delivery men to leave the package outside. Calvo has not been charged, though police said he, his wife and his mother-in-law are "persons of interest" in an ongoing investigation.

"We never opened the box. We have nothing to do with this box," Calvo said.

Sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Mario Ellis says deputies "apparently felt threatened" when they shot the dogs.

Calvo said officers entered about 7:30 p.m., first shooting 7-year-old Payton. They then pursued 4-year-old Chase, who ran away and was shot by police from behind, he said.

Calvo said he doesn't have any idea how the package ended up at his house. He called the raid "the most traumatic experience" of his life.

Calvo, who called his town "Mayberry inside the Capital Beltway," gets a small stipend as mayor and works at the SEED Foundation, a nonprofit that runs public boarding schools for at-risk students. His wife works as a state finance officer.

"These were two beautiful black Labradors who were well-known in the community. We walked them twice a day; little kids knew their names and would come up to them and pet them," he said.

Am I reading this right? Cops delivered a package and used the package they delivered as a reason to raid?

Did they intercept the package from a regular deivery company?

Did anyone at the house order the package?

-------

LizB, that's exactly what happened.

Now the police are saying they think the package might not have been intended for the Mayor's family, perhaps a deliveryman was going to pick it up instead. Here's a followup article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp...8/01/AR2008080103223.html

"Police had been tracking the package, which was addressed to Calvo's wife, since a police dog at a shipping facility in Arizona alerted authorities to the presence of drugs inside. It was delivered to Calvo's house by police posing as deliverymen and left on his porch at the instructions of his mother-in-law. After the raid, police recovered an unopened package containing more than 30 pounds of marijuana, but they made no arrests.

The possibility that no one in Calvo's house was the intended recipient of the package is among several theories police are pursuing."

What I found very interesting were some of the comments on the original article:

This is exactly the sort of thing that caused me to move from P.G. County. I used to live in Greenbelt and we had it worse than the rest of the county because of the lawlessness of the Greenbelt City Police. If there ever was a place in the U.S. that mimicked Nazi Germany, it is Greenbelt, Maryland. I attended an inquiry over a police beating of a young resident in the town, which I witnessed. At the hearing they had a couple of other eyewitnesses whose testimony matched, but a third witness, a town business owner and good friend of the police, claimed he saw the incident and that there was no beating by the police. He claimed he saw the guy inflict the damage to himself by slamming his face into the side of the police car while he was handcuffed.

After the hearing, I began receiving threatening anonymous phone calls, all from public pay phones in the Greenbelt - Berwyn area. When I called the Greenbelt police to report the calls, I was told that maybe I should mind my own business in the future when it comes to police business.

A month later I put my house up for sale and moved to another county.

---

war on drugs claims more innocents. No reason for the dogs to be shot. No reason for a swat team (it's just pot). This was most likely some kind of political hit, and the most innocent of all took the fall. I hope the officers who did the shooting have their weapons stripped.

(from the same poster as directly above) me again...did a little digging on this one. I guess if you oppose the real ID act, your dogs get shot to teach you a lesson on speaking out:

Cheye Calvo

National Conference of State Legislatures

Cheye (pronounced "shi") Calvo directs the National Conference of State Legislatures' (NCSL) transportation and financial services committees and represents state legislatures in our federal system of government on banking, insurance, securities and transportation issues. Cheye played a leading role in efforts to create state-friendly federal driver's license standards as part of the intelligence reform in December 2004 and more recently in opposing the driver's license provisions of the REAL ID Act. Cheye has spoken, testified and written extensively on a wide range of public policy matters, and has co-authored and co-edited studies on human genetics policy, genetic privacy, and auto insurance ratemaking. He also serves as the part-time, elected mayor of the Town of Berwyn Heights, Maryland.

What an easy way to set someone up for a bust. I am 61 years old. This crap has been going on for my entire life. Basically, Killing their dogs was the message. The cops don't have anything that will stand up in court. Killing his dogs was the exclamation point of the states power. Even if the trumped up case fails, the cops sent the message that they can screw with anybody at anytime. The mafia breaks your knee caps or threatens your families: the cops do this crap because they can. There are some severely disturbed persons in American Law enforcement!

------

Follow the name trail, Who was the commander who ordered the raid, who from the police were contacted by the post office, who from the post office contacted the police, who at the post office "discovered" the package.

Put them all under oath in front of a grand jury.

This wreaks of a set-up.

.....Berwyn Heights Mayor Targeted in Drug Raid

http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/07....html?fntsize=3

posted 6:33 pm Wed July 30, 2008 - BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md

The Mayor of Berwyn Heights, Md. was the target of a drug raid Wednesday after a package containing several pounds of marijuana was shipped to his home, according to police.

Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo is still reeling after a team of heavily armed sheriff deputies burst into his home Wednesday.

"It was an explosion followed immediately by gunfire," said Calvo.

The deputies bound the mayor and fired shots, killing the Calvo's two black Labradors. Calvo tearfully expressed his love for his "good dogs" while showing ABC 7 reporter Brad Bell, exactly where they were shot by a Prince George's county sheriff.

According to sources, the deputies armed with a warrant were acting on behalf of a drug squad for Prince George's County Police. Detectives had learned that a box containing more than 30 pounds of marijuana had been shipped from Arizona and was addressed to Calvo's wife at their Berwyn Heights address.

After the Calvo's brought, unknowingly they claim, the package into their home Tuesday evening, the waiting officers moved in. The Calvo's said the box wasn't even opened when the officers stormed into their residence.

When asked if he is a drug dealer, Calvo said, "Of course not!" The mayor said he has no idea where the marijuana came from.

Neither Calvo, his wife nor her mother, who also lives in the home, have been arrested or charged with anything. Police said the investigation remains open.

The Calvo's insisted the investigation shouldn't involve them, saying the event was very traumatic to deal with. "We have to heal," said Calvo.

astrogirl, I smelled something funny when I read that the package was sniffed out by dogs in Arizona and then shipped across states and delivered 'by the police" in MD. IFAIK, interstate movement of contraband would have to involve federal drug enforcement agency agents, not local or state police. I believe procedure is to have the package sniffed out, seized, and opened under a warrant in Arizona. http://www.k9fleck.org/nlu10.htm

A quick google search of "marijuana delivered by usps" turned up several cases that were dismissed or overturned on appeal because merely accepting delivery of a package does not indicate guilt, including this one www.judicial.state.sc.us/...ns/HTMLFiles/SC/25629.htm [ THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. In The Supreme Court. The State, Respondent v. Claude and Phil Humphries, Petitioners. ]

What's the street value of 32 lbs of marijuana? Someone must really want this politician to go away if they're willing to invest that much to set him up. ......

Anyone who opposes the Jews is a terrorist, and an enemy of the Police State in Amerika, subject to judgment and/or execution by the Mossad. "Muslim Terrorism" was, of course, the false flag, bait-and-switch vehicle by which the real terrorists brought us this.

The Truth About the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorism

Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld and Alyssa A. Lappen - Jun 17, 2006

The New Media Journal.us

On October 28, 2005,[1] President George W. Bush denounced IslamoFascist movements that call for a “violent and political vision: the establishment, by terrorism, subversion and insurgency, of a totalitarian empire that denies all political and religious freedom.”.........

Actively promoting its radical religious ideology, the MB may well meet the definition of a “terrorist organization,” under the Patriot Act, even though it has not been so designated by the US government. The law stipulates “terrorist organizations to potentially include terrorist organizations not designated by the Secretary of State …A group that is engaged in terrorist activities might not be designated as a terrorist organization because, inter alia, the group’s activities escape the notice of US officials responsible for designated organizations as terrorist; the group has shifting alliances; or designating the group as a terrorist organization would jeopardize ongoing US criminal or military operations”. [30]

Terrorist organizations are legally defined as groups of two or more individuals that have “committed, incited, planned, prepared, gathered information or provided material support for terrorist activities.” However, terrorist activity can in some instances include even “indirect” actions such as group membership and advocacy. [31]

In addition, the REAL ID Act of 2005 significantly expanded the legal definition “terrorist organization” as it pertains to US immigration law. “Terrorist organizations” now include any group that solicit funds or memberships for either terrorist organizations or activities, or otherwise provide them material support. The definition now covers groups with subgroups engaged in terrorist activities, too. [32]As we discuss below, the MB has many such subgroups and has spawned many offspring— thus the MB and all its offspring now seem to fit these legal criteria.

The definition of “engaged in terrorist activity” was also broadened under the *** Real ID Act, to include belonging to, associating with, soliciting or recruiting for, or giving material support to a terrorist organization or even a single member,**** including non-designated terrorist organizations. Furthermore, if they so claim, the burden is now on aliens to prove that they could not reasonably have known that their actions supported a terrorist group. [33]......"

UNITY COALITION FOR ISRAEL

www.israelunitycoalition....s/article-old.php?id=7193

Regarding the http://adl.org [Anti Defamation League] link above:

"....Though the Zayed Center hosts lectures by Western heads of state and diplomats - its roster of past speakers includes former President Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Al Gore and former Secretary of State James Baker - the center also provides a platform for extremist speakers to promote virulently anti-Jewish and anti-Israel views.

The Center regularly publishes anti-Semitic and conspiracy theory literature and promulgates anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism through its speakers and official publications. The center promotes an extreme, anti-Israel agenda, including efforts to delegitimize the Jewish State with speeches and literature seeking to deny Jewish religious and historical ties to Israel and Jerusalem.

The Center has provided a platform to speakers who promote the view that the war in Iraq was merely a "strategic" step in a U.S. conspiracy whose goal is the "domination of the Middle East and [the] world." The Center's Web site claims that the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. were actually orchestrated by the U.S. military in an effort to blame the attacks on the Muslim world.

The Zayed Center's poisonous proclamations on Jews and Israel have continued to increase in intensity. Recent speakers have described Jews as "enemies of all nations" and "cheaters whose greed knows no bounds." The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an infamous anti-Semitic forgery created in the 19th Century to vilify and persecute Jews, has been held up as a factual account of a Jewish plan to "control the world," and speakers have accused Israel of trying to sterilize Palestinian children by lacing the water "used by some Palestinian schools" with chemicals.

Some Zayed speakers have engaged in attempts to deny the Holocaust, though all references to Holocaust denial on the English pages of the Center's Web site were removed in 2002.

As part of its virulently anti-Semitic agenda, the Zayed Center has reached out to American extremists and anti-Semites.

In March 2003, for example, the Center provided a platform to Michael Collins Piper, an American extremist and writer for the American Free Press, a conspiracy-oriented, anti-Semitic publication. Piper's speech was laced with references to "Jewish control" of the U.S. government and media and bizarre conspiracy theories, such as the theory that Israel and the Mossad were behind President John F. Kennedy's assassination and the Watergate scandal......"

"....ADL - A History of Disinformation and Intimidation....

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which describes itself as a civil rights organization, has been in the forefront of an ongoing attempt to label legitimate American-Arab and American-Muslim charitable, political, and informational organizations as fronts for terrorism. This attempt is part of a long-standing ADL policy of discrediting any individual or organization opposed to Israel or supportive of Palestinian rights. The ADL's strong political loyalty to Israel as well as its acknowledged ties to Israel's external intelligence agency in addition to its past practices of spreading disinformation and intimidating those who have spoken out against Israeli policies should however serve as a warning about the ADL and the nature of its claims.......

the ADL has overstepped the bounds of legitimacy on a number of levels. The organization has engaged in illegal domestic spying activities, has worked with foreign intelligence agencies to undermine the rights and endanger the lives of American citizens, has undertaken disinformation campaigns slandering and intimidating numerous academicians, politicians, journalists, church officials, and Arab-Americans.

ADL's transgressions were most notably exposed in January 1993 when San Francisco newspapers broke the story of ADL's extensive domestic spying network. The San Francisco Police Department discovered that under the cover of fighting anti-Semitism, the ADL had gathered and sold to intelligence agents of the Israeli and South African governments information on thousands of American individuals and groups. In addition to nearly all Arab American organizations, those whom the ADL targeted included House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ron Dellums, former Congressman Pete McCloskey, Los Angeles Times correspondent Scott Kraft, the board of directors of public television station KQED, the Rainbow Coalition, a number of labor unions, Greenpeace, as well as numerous other journalists, professors, members of Congress, and activists who the ADL suspected had "anti-Israel" leanings. The information which the San Francisco police department confiscated from the ADL offices included illegally obtained confidential police material. The manner by which the ADL obtained such information as well as the fact that they sold it to foreign governments are both felonies.

The ADL's ties to the Mossad, Israel's external intelligence agency, had been known even before the scandal broke out in 1993. During the court proceedings concerning a 1970 lawsuit against the ADL, an internal letter was disclosed in which ADL's Epstein bragged about the close intelligence relations between the ADL and Israel. Furthermore, in his 1988 autobiography, ADL general counsel Arnold Forster described the close connections between the ADL and the Mossad. The Mossad connection is especially disturbing because of the Israeli intelligence agency's long record of engaging in political assassinations of opponents of Israel throughout the world.

Like the Mossad, the ADL has not been content with just gathering information on those who have spoken out against Israel or in favor of Palestinian rights. The ADL has also actively engaged in discrediting them through disinformation campaigns which are aimed at both distorting the records and intimidating those opposed to Israel. While in the 1970's and 1980's, the ADL often falsely labeled such individuals as being connected to the PLO or in the pay of Arab Gulf states, since the 1990's, the ADL has begun labeling them as being connected to Islamic terrorist organizations. The ADL's allegations, while couched in a matter-of-fact style, nearly always falls far short of providing any real evidence. However such allegations have had far-reaching effects. After the ADL accused seven Palestinians and a Kenyan woman in California with ties to a PLO terrorist group, for example, the eight individuals were arrested and deportation proceedings were begun. When it was later discovered that no real evidence existed against the eight individuals except for the fact that they had distributed anti-Israeli magazines, the media sharply criticized the government.

One of its first salvos in the disinformation war was its 1975 report entitled "Target U.S.A.: The Arab Propaganda Offensive," in which the ADL distorted the images of nearly all mainstream Arab-American groups. The ADL followed up that report with its most controversial book of all: Pro-Arab Propaganda: Vehicles and Voices, an enemies list of 31 organizations and 34 individuals which was published in 1983 and was largely aimed at countering opposition to Israel from University professors and student organizations. The publication intentionally takes statements of those on the list out of context, accuses them of Anti-Semitism, and falsely accuses a number of academic scholars of being part of a PLO support network or of having been paid by Gulf Arab countries. The report calls upon Jewish leaders in Universities throughout the country to boycott and intimidate those appearing on the list. Those who appeared on the list later found themselves ostracized by the academic community with some losing their jobs or denied promotions. S.C. Whittaker, the former chairman of the Political Science Department at Rutgers University admitted, for example, that political reasons, rather than academic ones, prevented Dr. Eqbal Ahmad from obtaining a regular teaching appointment after his name appeared on the ADL list. Dr. Noam Chomsky, who also appeared on the list, says that since the book was published, protesters have appeared at every one of his speaking engagements and have distributed distorted ADL reports containing fabricated quotes that he was alleged to have made in an attempt to intimidate him and his listeners. On Nov. 30, 1984, the Middle East Studies Association passed a resolution protesting the "creation, storage, or dissemination of blacklists, enemy lists" or surveys that call for boycotting individuals or intimidating scholars. Similar intimidation campaigns have been waged by the ADL against reporters and journalists who have criticized Israel.

Throughout the 1980's, the ADL also accused liberal church officials, church groups, and religious organizations which called for peace and justice for all in the Middle East as being connected to the PLO. The Reverend Don Wagner and the Presbyterian Church had especially been accused by the ADL of having connections to the PLO, though no evidence was ever presented backing up such contentions. On the other hand, after a 1994 report on the religious right, the ADL was accused by religious conservatives of going after people for their political views and of taking numerous quotes of religious leaders out of context. Also on May 25, 1994, the ADL's Jerusalem office released a sensationalist story which appeared the next day in the New York Times and other newspapers which alleged that the Vatican had admitted to being responsible for the Holocaust. The Vatican later totally denied the story. The ADL's blatant misrepresentation of facts was sharply criticized.

The ADL's credibility has been severely shaken by its long record of disinformation. While the ADL has every right to continue advocating pro-Israel policies, its real agenda should be exposed and it must be made to end the illegal spying, harassment, and intimidation of political opponents. More importantly, U.S. law enforcement agencies, the media, and political circles need to see the ADL for what it is: a pro-Israel group more than ready to distort the truth to further the Israeli agenda. While in retrospect, it now seems very clear that the ADL's wild allegations against alleged PLO support networks in the 1980's were baseless, it must be remembered that at the time they were seen as credible and led many people to lose their jobs and others to be imprisoned. The ADL's current crusade against alleged Islamic terrorist networks is almost identical to its earlier one against so-called ties to the PLO. Both campaigns are based on general stereotypes and fears and are devoid of evidence and fact. To repeat such allegations without further investigating them, as some in the media have done, is unprofessional and unethical. To act upon them, as some law-makers and law-enforcement agencies have done, is dangerous and threatens the freedoms and civil liberties Americans have grown to expect....."

Jew-Watch, of course, is also on ADL's "hate" list.

For me, this horrifying story of the innocent pets being slaughtered by Pigs, just got more horrifying, because it is becoming increasingly clear to me that there is way more to the story than first meets the eye.

".... ISRAELI CHRISTIANS WORSHIP UNDER ARMED GUARD

By Rev. Ted Pike

24 Jun 08

Israeli free-speaking newspaper Ha'aretz reports that anti-Christianity toward messianic Christians in Israel is now so intense they can’t worship safely without armed protection. Militant ultra-orthodox Jewish settlers dominate most local government and police in central Israel and the West Bank . Police do nothing as Christians are harassed and threatened with violence. (See “Christians in Israel: An Endangered Species”)

In October, a Jerusalem church used by messianic believers was mysteriously torched. A messianic teen was critically injured by explosion of a package bomb in his face; police believe ultra-Orthodox terrorists were responsible. Angry orthodox Jews publicly burned hundreds of New Testaments. (See “Burning New Testaments in ‘Democratic’ Israel”)

Official persecution of Christians is sharply on the rise in Israel . Ha'aretz says, "Calev Myers, a lawyer who represents messianic Jews, said he has fought 200 legal cases in the past two years. Most involve authorities' attempt to close down houses of worship, revoke the citizenship of believers or refuse to register their children as Israelis… In incidents of violence [against Christians], police are reluctant to press charges."

The government of Israel maintains a hands-off policy. It contends that Christians who witness and are persecuted deserve it. The government is just as anti-Christian as local magistrates. Israel continues to attempt to deport a German Christian student for the alleged "crime" of witnessing. (See “Christian Deported from Israel”)

**** UPDATE:

Berwyn Heights Mayor Drug Raid Update

Posted by Brett Bittner on August 7, 2008

In the last several days, which I am sure the county officials in Prince George hoped would bury the story of the Berwin Heights mayor’s home being raided, there have been several developments. It has been discovered that the police raiding the mayor’s home DID NOT ACTUALLY POSSESS A “NO KNOCK WARRANT.” In fact, they did not seek one from the judge who signed the search warrant. Also, we find out that the chief of police feels that his narcotics officer working with the county Sheriff’s Office did nothing wrong in serving the warrant. From today’s Washington Post article, police chief Melvin C. High stated:

In some quarters, this has been viewed as a flawed police operation and an attack on the mayor, which it is not,” High said. “This was about an address, this was about a name on a package . . . and, in fact, our people did not know that this was the home of the mayor and his family until after the fact.

I am pretty sure illegally entering someone’s private residence would fall under the “flaw” category. The remainder of the quote seems to me to show that the police only moved on the information of the address, without any investigation into the matter at hand. I think a quick trip to county records could give you information in regard to the owner of the property, so that you could have a person named in a search warrant. If there is no investigation, perhaps I should start sending myself packages to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. After a few have arrived, I can just show up with a moving truck and some day laborers and claim the house to be my property. The same logic used by the police in this event should work with the Secret Service, right?
