Among the likely choices for Obama's running mate, Joe Biden was not the person reformers were hoping to see on the democratic ticket. Radley Balko sums up Biden's drug war credentials: …from a policy perspective, it’s a disaster. Biden has sponsored more damaging drug war legislation than any Democrat in Congress. Hate the way federal prosecutors use RICO laws to take aim at drug offenders? Thank Biden. How about the abomination that is federal asset forfeiture laws? Thank Biden. Think federal prosecutors have too much power in drug cases? Thank Biden. Think the title of a “Drug Czar” is sanctimonious and silly? Thank Biden, who helped create the position (and still considers it an accomplishment worth boasting about). Tired of the ridiculous steroids hearings in Congress? thank Biden, who led the effort to make steroids a Schedule 3 drug, and has been among the blowhardiest of the blowhards when it comes to sports and performance enhancing drugs. Biden voted in favor of using international development aid for drug control (think plan Columbia, plan Afghanistan, and other meddling anti-drug efforts that have only fostered loathing of America, backlash, and unintended consequences). Oh, and he was also the chief sponsor of 2004’s horrendous RAVE Act. On the other hand, Biden has recently spoken out against the crack/powder sentencing disparity and introduced legislation to address that issue. Pete Guither also notes that Biden's votes on civil liberties issues have consistently improved over the years, which may be a sign that he's evolving in his thinking. But I see no evidence that Biden has ever stepped back in any meaningful sense from his rabid drug warring ways. If he's made any philosophical realignments on drug policy in general, he hasn't said so out loud. Thus the silver-lining may be that as Vice President, Biden would no longer be serving on the judiciary committee, where he's exerted his influence in the form of the various atrocities outlined above. As VP he'd technically be losing his authority over drug policy issues, except to whatever extent Obama may seek his advice when selecting the drug czar and so forth. It's certainly possible that Obama's more enlightened views would prevail within his administration, or even that Biden's "tough on crime" credentials could provide cover for reform, but Biden would be a strange ingredient in the behind-the-scenes reform agenda that's so often attributed to Obama by liberal reformers. It was bad enough when Obama softened his reform positions to avoid attacks from the right. Will he now begin watching his step around his own running mate?

The manipulation of peoples to pit one workforce against another to leverage wages and benefits down, to make the unionizing people with a vested interest in their communities more controllable, humble and contrite was an evil thing to do, and they should be accountable for the manipulations that did this. But the key element you and others like you ignore is that both peoples ate pawns and victims in this game ultimately. Sorry, but the Libertarians are a bad joke. Unless they get serious, that is, start running candidates on a national basis for local elections building up a political presence, they are utterly useless, bringing out a sacrifical lamb every four years. They sucker well meaning people into giving them money, for what? NOTHING. That's all they have accomplished since I first started hearing about them in the 70's. Personally I spend the money on myself. Fuck 'em. Give money to pols? Heck, I'd rather give it to strippers. Bob Barr says he's changed his stripes and is now not a WOD guy. Fine. It’s both a quick and fascinating read; among other things, we learn that not only the October 1917 Revolution (really a just a well-organized, well-carried out Jewish coup) was dominated by Jewish agitators (a documented fact) but so was the 1905 Revolution (something I didn’t know). We also learn from the grand old man the awe-inspiring extent of the Jewish domination of the Soviet Union during its first two decades of existence, including its ruthless and murderous internal security system: Tcheka, OGPU, NKGB, and NKVD. A Russian in the hands of the Tcheka, etc. was almost certain to be in the hands of Jewish torturers and executioners. The litany of Jewish crimes committed against the long-suffering Russians (and other Slavic peoples: Ukrainians and Belarussians) and coldly listed by the author is simply nauseating and one should approach both volumes on an empty stomach. To this day there has been no acknowledgment on the part of international Jewry of their overwhelming support of the Bolshevik dictatorship during its first two decades. No asking for forgiveness. No reparations paid out to Russians. No chest-beating. No nothing…how un-Jewish that would be! Furthermore, Solzhenitsyn speaks of his personal contacts with Soviet Jews and their typical detached relativism on all issues, including communist crimes with their tens of millions of victims. However, all that cool, intellectual relativism and reluctance to see the world in black and white terms would disappear in the blink of an eye as soon as Hitlerism was mentioned. Another example of Jewish hypocrisy highlighted by the author concerns the Jews admonishing of Russians (namely Solzhenitsyn) to reject global generalisations regarding Jews and aspect of the Jewish character at the same time that they would form and propagate the most negative opinions on the Russian character and how it was the Russians’ fault that the fundamentally noble communist experiment failed. Interesting simile because as you obviously know brown headed cowbirds are nest parasites who push eggs out of nests then lay their own so other birds will raise their young. Lots of times they just follow their instincts and feed the baby that pushed any of their own offspring out of the nest that dared compete with them for food. From the days of antiquity to the present, the peoples have always risen up to defend themselves against Jewish parasitism. The defense was often bloody. Greater Germany is the first country in the world to find a legal way to separate from the alien Jewish people. Legal Measures to Solve the Jewish Problem Excluding the Jews from the German Economy Jews are prohibited from owning shops, mail order firms, or branches, and from owning an independent craft firm. They are further prohibited from offering goods or business services at markets, exhibitions, or trade fairs of any kind. A Jew can no longer be a factory director, a leading official, or a member of a cooperative. Shops, mail order firms, and branches owned by Jews are to be closed down and eliminated. Only in particular cases can Jewish firms be aryanized. The same is true for Jewish craft firms. The Jews were excluded from six branches of industry in the summer of 1939 (security, information, real estate, housing and mortgage services, marriage services, foreign travel). Important patents and commercial secrets must be transferred to non-Jewish control. Jews in the German Reich may no longer own or control property. Jewish stocks must be turned in. Jews with German citizenship, or Jews without a nationality, are prohibited from acquiring, selling or disposing of items of gold, platinum, or silver, as well as precious gems and pearls. Measures against the Jews in the Cultural Arena Jews are prohibited from attending German theaters, concerts, film theaters, etc. Jew may not attend German schools. They may only attend Jewish schools. Jews are restricted to their own Jewish artistic and cultural activities, which have been greatly expanded since the summer of 1933. The "Jewish Cultural Federation" has affiliates in all major cities, incorporating no fewer than 134 Jewish cultural organizations in every area of artistic life. Special Rules for Jews in Other Areas Jews are prohibited from owning or bearing firearms and ammunition, as well as daggers or swords. Driving motor vehicles of any type, as well as cars and motorcycles, is also prohibited. The Reich Minister has authorized the police departments of the provinces and their subordinates to establish regulations for Jews with German citizenship, or those with no nationality, that ban them from certain areas or limit them to certain times. For example, they may be banned from certain districts, or not be allowed in public at certain times. Jews may not serve as attorneys. A limited number of legal advisers are available to represent Jews. Jews may also not practice medicine. The legal situations of Jews as tenants or landlords is legally regulated.
