DENVER - John McCain kept his vice presidential pick a closely guarded secret hours before the high-stakes announcement Friday as top prospects seemed to drop away and speculation moved to darkhorse candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Two GOP strategists close to the McCain campaign said all indications pointed to Palin, 44, a self-styled "hockey mom" and political reformer. The strategists spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized by the McCain camp to discuss the matter. There was no confirmation from McCain or his advisers. With an announcement scheduled in Dayton, Ohio, an associate of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said the governor had been informed he is not McCain's pick. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak for Pawlenty, who had all but ruled himself out.

You are correct, however there is a distinction that needs to be made. Fealty to Israel and pro war ARE not qualifications, rather they are prerequisites. "prerequisite" Noun.... something that is required before something else is possible Adjective.... required before something else is possible

Don't be too sure about that: I'm now voting R because of her. Again, this is with the hope that Mac's head explodes with his first 'crisis.'

Well... between a Jew, a Mormon and a Woman... I can't think of a 'good' choice for McCain. Obama's pick of Biden is probably a 0 on a scale from -10 to +10. McCain's pick of Putin would be a -5 because she makes McCain look old and tired, and her 'experience' is even lower than Obama's - and the McCains kept stressing 'experience' for the past few months. I think the Mormon would have been the better pick for McCain.

The only thing open to scrutiny about Palin is her position on Israel.. If she is pro Jew, then McKooK messed up. if not he may well win. Rendell was correct, white America is not ready for a black president.

I think I have this straight; McCain is half dead and goes on to choose an unknown female in hopes of grabbing some of the Hillary vote, which is mostly compromised of radical feminists who are pro abortion. Nice play there Johnny. Yeah.....I'll be sitting this one out (again).

I hate McCain and his PNAC pals to the point that it didn't matter to me who he picked. If he chose Ron Paul as his VP, I still wouldn't consider voting for him. But like I told JT, at least we didn't get Lieberman. I'll either vote third party or stay at home on election day on this one.

On the subject of hot flashes, you are sounding rather huffy puffy and hormonal about McCain's possible selection of Palin as VP. Could it be that you're worried? Could it be that you realize that Biden is a burden whereas Palin is an asset? I love it! I said a week ago that if I were McCain's campaign manager, I'd tell him to pick Palin. Man oh man, I wish I had put money on her name.

You are absolutely right on that, JT. I like intellectual challenges in general. I'll vote for neither undynamic duo pairing. I'm looking at this solely in terms of gamesmanship. And in that regard, McCain is the better player than Obama. Of course there's still some time left for Obama to pull his rabbit our of the hat. But in terms of VP picks, Obama picking Bidin demonstrates without a doubt what an Affirmative Action intellectually deficient person Obama is.
I'd say that Palin's in pretty poor company. Do we know if she's been vetted by TelAviv?

I have been scouring the net for two hours trying to find out if Palins sun rises and sets in Tel Aviv like MckooK and Obummer.
