The introduction is about to begin.
Let's hear first impressions from everyone as this is happening.
Well... McCain just finished talking. Anyone? Anyone?
McCain presented her qualifications as follows:
- she's got executive experience - she's got kids - she is or was a union member and so is her hubby - she's exactly what she needs - she's exactly what the country needs
You're delusional, my friend. McCain made a terrible mistake. Between his singing 'Bomb, bomb Iran' and his picking a complete unknown AFTER his campaign and commercials kept bitching about 'experience' for the past half year... he's done.
Think of Reagan/Bush vs. Mondale/Ferraro. How many states did Ferraro deliver to Mondale? I do remember Mondale winning Minnesota, because he was from there. And Ferraro gave him...?
Andrea Mitchel just woke up from her feministic reverie... she's wondering "has the McCain campaign just conceded the 'experience' argument?"
Well duh, Andrea. Palin is a GOVERNOR - ie she is a manager, and a gorgeous one at that unlike Put a bag on her Head Andrea. McCain picked Palin to cover his own Senator for Life weakness ie. lack of managerial experience. When McCain criticized Obama for lack of experience, he was criticizing Obama for being inexperienced in federal politics as compared to himself - he was comparing his Senatorial experience to Obama's Senatorial experience.
But I think you knew that, didn't you, vast?
McCain and Obama are both anti-America. But in terms of chess, McCain's the better player.
The 'experience' thing was McCain's strongest line of attack. I bet you anything that yesterday was the last day you could watch an 'experience' ad from the McCains. What is McCain's left with now? Explaining that he's not Bush? Attacking Obama for not being Hillary?
He's done because he's got nothing to talk about between now and November other than "Look whom I picked. Isn't she lovely?"
If you really want to know the details, I didn't exactly 'watch' this. I was on the toilet but the TV was on. I am watching now because I'm still on a break before I go back to my study.
Palin really is a good pick. She has more executive experience than Obama and Biden put together. And she is pro life. She backs up the pro life by not aborting her baby with Down Syndrome. McCain has done well. Hopefully, she can succeed to the presidency in the next year.

Even though she's a not very distant relative family loyalty is one thing but I would not vote for McNutz even with a relative on the ticket. She is a decent Woman and associating with these kinds of criminals would not be good thing for her morals.
"The difference between an honorable man and a moral man is that an honorable man regrets a discreditable act even when it has worked and he is in no danger of being caught." ~ H. L. Mencken
Someone said that she won some beauty contests. I suppose that helps with her foreign policy credentials because, without a doubt, she was all for promoting 'world peace' and ending 'world hunger' at the time.

Yes, but if and when the Obie crowd points out Palin's inexperience, it backfires on him by highlighting Obie's unbearable lightness of experience.
Palin 2 years Gov Obie 2 years Senator.....
On the sociocultural front, she's a home run, what with hubbie having a real job of commercial Alyeska fisherman (a brass balls type of trade), - not a lawyer whitecollartype, and a bevy of kids, one deploying to Irak.
She's easier on the eyes and ears than Biden. Not a traditional feminist, but the epitomy of a postfeminist feminist encompassing political reform, mother, with a working stiff spouse, and being Alaskan, harking back to a frontier woman image.
The 'experience' thing was McCain's strongest line of attack.
You bet it was - Obama is a brand new federal Senator. McCain is a Senator for Life. Attacking Obama on his lack of experience on Capitol Hill was a smart plan. Otherwise what was McCain going to attack Obama on - his overuse of the word "change" 3 Million times? Lack of experience was a solid fact.
But neither McCain nor Obama have managerial experience. That was McCain's weakness too and he needed to cover his hind quarters on that. McCain's other obvious weakness was also shared with Obama - being a leftie socially. Palin covers McCain in that gaping hole. McCain's other weakness was age. Palin covers that issue.
McCain choosing Palin was more to cover his obvious weaknesses so he'd appeal more to the evangelicals who he can't afford to have stay home as well as his desire to appeal to independents and moderate family-oriented Dems and to politically uninformed males and females who will vote on gender for opposite reasons. Palin looks like the girl next door. She and her young family bring youth and energy to the ticket. And more importantly, Americans can and will identify with Palin but not with Michelle Obama. That contrast alone will harm Big O even more.
McCain pulls ahead 5 points with Palin. Obama stays where he was before with Biden, no bounce whatsoever.
I heard McCain was going to announce his VP this morning so i monitored the radio news< & turned on the Tv for the first time in months just to watch this.
Palin, married to a union fisherman, 5 kids, PTA, governor, pro life, NRA, seems like a cute lil slice of Americana. Until she mentioned preventing Iran from 'getting nukes', (a neocon talking point) she on the face of it, (if one to fall for the bullshit theatre we call elections, that is) , seemed like a perfectly nice broad.
Of course i dont for a minute think she is, or else mccain wouldnt have picked her. I'm sure pundits will dig up all sorts of skeletons on her within minutes. it is kind of funny though, that someone who watched footloose in high school could be our veep.
has she ever been to bohemian grove? ;-/

Doesnt the red blooded American part of you have a voice????
Forget the politics.
I'm not thinking about my politics per se - I am thinking about my loyalty to the America I believe in and support. McNutz is a criminal psychotic and even though Sarah is family I WILL NOT vote for McNutz period - not because of political affiliation but because I want the best for my country and its people. If he were to win I would just hope that he dies quickly and she takes over - that would be a good turn of events.

The Obies don't have to point to her inexperience, unless the McCains are stupid enough to ever mention it again. The damage done to the McCains is that it effectively removed their most compelling anti-Obama argument from their arsenal.
Are you sh!tt!ing me? you're related to this broad for reals?

I do not call Biden a plus for Obama. He picked Biden because the McCains were screaming 'inexperience'. Now, the McCains cut the branch from under their feet. Obama is left with Biden - and I doubt you're going to see them together often - while McCain is made to look like a dying granny AND he can't brag about his experience and seasoning no more.

oh man, you've got to do some sort of writeup on this. Just think of the play it would get.
PALIN FAMILY MEMBER IS 9/11 TRUTHER, SAYS MCCAIN IS CRIMINAL PSYCHOTIC
PLEASE DO IT!!! ;-)

Palin's first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with Alaska's attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation.[33]
Palin is considered to have similar policy positions to John McCain in most respects. One major exception is drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), which Palin strongly supports and McCain has opposed. Palin is expected to try to convince McCain to change his position on ANWR drilling.[57] She has also praised Obama's energy plan over the plan proposed by McCain.[58]In a July interview on CNBC, Palin expressed that she couldn't comment on the possibility of a vice presidential nomination until someone explained to her what the position entailed. She also wanted to "make sure that that V.P. slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans"[59]

Overall, it's a McCain loss.
Hissy fit, hissy fit - buy your tickets now to watch the spectacle.
It has been so funny, reading the 2 of you sputtering and fussing as soon as Palin's name was reported.
This is what happens when you bet on an Affirmative Action baby. He and and his wife got help and a leg up all the way through life until now when they're on the spot and they are forced to show their true stuff. Ha! And boy oh boy do we see their stuff in blazing LCD screen colors. When they speak and when they do their own thinking and when they make their own choices - well woeisme - Obama and his Mama fail and fail mightily - as a result Michelle now walks around with duct tape over her mouth and Obama now has Plagiarist Joe tied to his hip.
I've been predicting for many months that Obama was going to pick a very white boy and McCain was going to pick a woman. I was wrong on the identities. I thought Obama's choice was going to be Webb and McCain's was going to be Condi. So, I was wrong on the details but on the spot on the general principles. I am more confident that McCain is going to lose now than I was yesterday.
