Back in February, on Super Tuesday, MTV News Street Teamer Dani Carlson did a Flixwagon interview with Alaska Governor — and now presumptive Republican vice-presidential candidate — Sarah Palin, who had some interesting things to say about energy policy and the “party machinery.”

In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. He’s independent of the party machine. I’m like, ‘Right on, so am I.’ ”

So what's she doing getting chummy and on a ticket with somebody who is Ron Paul's exact opposite on every single issue?

Would you have her turn down this chance to replace McNutcase when he keels over? On what principle? It's ironic that a Ron Paul Republican might soon preside over the U.S. Senate.

The reasons Governor Palin is a good choice keep coming in: "[I]t is time to embrace our sovereignty,” she told Reuters in an interview a few months ago... She is also an avid hunter and angler...staunchly opposed to gun control. She has irked environmentalists by opposing the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species and is a big supporter of oil and gas drilling off the Alaska coast.

I wonder if she voted for and supported Ron Paul in the primaries. I also wonder if she opposes the "war on terror," "Patriot Act," and so on.

I doubt it. If she did, Mad Mac's PNAC handlers would treat her as radioactive and not let him go anywhere near her. Chances are, she's one of those people who likes McCain for his phony "independent maverick" image, and can't tell the difference between that and a genuine article like Ron Paul.
