Back in February, on Super Tuesday, MTV News Street Teamer Dani Carlson did a Flixwagon interview with Alaska Governor — and now presumptive Republican vice-presidential candidate — Sarah Palin, who had some interesting things to say about energy policy and the “party machinery.” In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. "Paul cant win" is from the sideline rantings of Vast when we were trying to support Paul... I am trying to remind him of such. Vote???? Not going to vote Lod. First time in a long time. Am olde and damned tired of this dog and pony show called an election. The voters have already made their choice for more war, more big government. If 130 million Americans stayed home, the politicians just MIGHT get a hint that the jig is up. As we speak, this government and the people in control are far ahead of Iraq and planning on far greater schemes. World War Two in hindsight will look like a minor skirmish.
I'm glad you finally figured out the game.
Actually it is a show. A carefully planned and thought out show. The elite don't like surprises. If Sara is a surprise pick for them then McCain will lose in landslide. Sometimes I even wonder if Paul was part of the show. I hope not, but I am not even 100% sure about him.

And to nullify the original republic, it may not even be necessary. Even without WWIII, we are nearly finished. The world wars have harmed our people as much as if they had lost. It's as plain as that. I cannot say it any more simply.
Lod... I told Christine earlier that I knew the race was fixed with a one party system way back when Ike was offered the job by both "parties". Truman was forced out and a patsy had to be found to run against Ike. Stevenson did it twice. Damned few people realized what had happened. Yes, I voted for Ike. Patriotic duty, dont you know????

I don't understand your personal upset with Palin frankly. What did you expect from McCain's VP pick - Jesus Christ? Neither McCain nor Obama are good for America - they're both terrible. But at least you might have some fun speculating on the strategy of McCain vs Obama instead of taking this Palin pick so hard, it's like the cat ate your breakfast or something. I got bad news for you - the Pres election year has become a game... Yep. I've no dog in this fight, but if the Palin pick sends Barry back to also- ran status, great. No advantage w/ McAnus, but bury Barry.

I'm about where you are as it regards not voting, Cyni. I'd be delighted to see 130 million REGISTERED VOTERS stay home--opt out of voting for the left or right head of the same old monster! That was the most incredible part of his presidency. I can still see and hear his speech in my minds eye about the MIC. The only reason I understood was that I had been in the military, had worked for Martin Acft and was working for the government at the time. His biggest fault was helping to destroy McCarthy, I always thot he was forced into it.

Actually apart from what I read here today I never knew Palin had expressed admiration for Ron Paul in the past. I don't know much about Palin except what I had read several months or more ago when it was first reported in Google news that she was a young Governor who had recently given birth to a Downs child. This peaked my curiosity at the time and as I read more about her I thought she was a very interesting political figure and someone to watch. Then when McCain was looking for a VP, her name immediately popped to my mind somply from the perspective of who I'd counsel McCain to pick if I were his campaign manager - because Palin would cancel out some of his weaknesses - lack of executive experience, leftie social leanings, old age, old boy's club Beltway membership. But whether she's a Ron Paul acolyte and whether she should have saved herself for the future rather than soiling herself with the McCain ticket association, I I have not researched her in depth to know if she is a Ron Paul type of person. As to the question of whether or not she has soiled herself assuming she is worthwhile candidate in the Ron Paul mold, I don't believe she will suffer by being associated with McCain. Palin is getting tons of attention now solely because she is a VP pick. Otherwise she might have never gotten this exposure without prostituting herself, figuratively speaking. All this media spotlight has landed on her lap without her politicking for it on the Beltway like Hillary and Geraldine Ferrarro had to do. Look at it this way - Palin did not seek McCain out. She did not use dirty tricks and compromise herself over the years to get McCain's nod. McCain selected her from the far away state of Alaska because he needed her strengths and she did not bring bad baggage to him - she did not solicit McCain. So actually it's a good sign IF indeed she is a Ron Paul follower - she's broken onto the national scene without any sleazy efforts on her part and to boot, maybe she may very well have the opportunity in the WH to bring a spotlight to Ron Paul's positions, if she's the real deal.

Odds that Palin differs from the other three are slim to none. Perhaps. But then again she is a mother ( as opposed to McCain having a son in the military) and a mother's love of her children is very very deep. Palin has a 19 year old son in Iraq. I'd wager that Palin wants her son - her eldest, her first born -get home safely in one piece rather than being collateral damage as a result of a DC/Tel Aviv attack on Iran.
But if you are McCain's manager, Palin is a brilliant choice. That's the perspective from which I have made my comments about her, my choice of her as VP several weeks ago. You 2 cannot deny it - strategy wise for McCain's campaign, Palin is an asset. Biden, otoh, is a zero, maybe even a minus to Obama.

She sure beats Lieberman and is the best one of the Obama/Biden McCain/Palin bunch. She supported Pat Buchanan when he ran so she can't be that much of a warmonger. I am still voting for Chuck Baldwin even though I will have to write him in, but Sara is a very good choice for McCain. I have to give credit where credit is due, McCain made the bold choice here for VP and very well could be the next President because of it.

True... We realize however that people of "position" are taken care of in the military. It is rare indeed that they go in harms way. Perhaps you read a post of mine a few days ago re as to who it is that does the bleeding and dying during wartime. There was a comprehensive study done after WW2 as to what the odds were for each class of society. As one climbed the class ladder the odds were nearly a hundred to one that people with position would ever pay the slightest price. As a case in point, John McKooK. His total time under combat stress was about 25 hours, the time in which hostile fire could cause him harm. For which he received 13 medals. His Father was CINCPAC. The lowest class grunts underwent days and weeks of slaughter without end for which they "earned" a purple heart if wounded or killed. We all know of the heroics of Gore and Kerry in Viet Nam. The study found the odds at the top were insignificant vs the horrible odds at the bottom.
