Yes, she tied herself to an anchor; however, it also acted as a sail with which she was lifted out of national press obscurity. (Always looking for a silver lining..in this case, perhaps the real potential that McCook is not going to last one term) SO: In this case, you're damn right the VP is important because the pres is terminal.
