But, I must admit, I'm a bit puzzled. Did all political activities stop during WW2? Weren't there election, party conventions, electoral campaigns while hundreds or thousands of Americans were dying on foreign lands? And, today... they stop the stupid GOP convention because of a strong wind?

Gentleman.....NOLA is a "Chocolate City" (see Mayor Nagin) and as such deserves special government attention. Those that deny THEM special rights will be called ugly names.
