Could he have been more wrong when a few years ago he claimed to have looked into the eyes of Vladimir Putin and saw his (Putins) soul and concluded that, "he is a good man?" Undoubtedly, the U.S. President suffers from a false delusion of grandeur; an affliction most of the Neocons suffer too. This administration enticed Georgia into conflict with Russia, and when it came right down to it the administration blinked. Russia isn't a small demoralized country in the Middle East like Iraq, so like a bully on a playground the President ran for cover. Where is our senior foreign adviser Vice President Cheney? While our ally was suffering the horrors of war President Bush made small talk with Putin at the Olympics and ran off to his ranch in Texas; a reoccurring event during every crisis. This administration goes around the world preaching democracy and freedom when they should be preaching personal responsibility and personal liberty. Liberty is such a relative term. The United States declared independence from Great Britain and our history books call the Founders patriots. The South sought independence from the North and they are call rebels in the history books. Georgia sought independence from Russia, but didn't like the idea of one of their provinces declaring independence from them. The U.S. liberated Iraq from the evils of Saddam Hussein and the Baath Party so its own influence would be considered. It all boils down to force at the end of a rifle with those on both sides invoking terms of "freedom" and "independence" while innocent civilians die in the streets so corporate America can remain secure in their shaky business dealings. Were I an ally of the U.S. right now; I wouldn't trust a word coming out of this administrations mouth. Steve Durham Poster Comment: Putin and Bush had a heated exchange in Beijing during the Olympics per accounts in the foreign press and Putin seemed to scare the piss out of Bush. That is fear in Bush's eyes. That night Putin was at the refugee camp consoling the victims of Georgia's attack and promising them justice and Bush was watching the female beach volleyball game.
