Barack Obama merely has to pluck the ripe fruit of people's weariness of Swift Boat lies and garbage and call McCain's hand. John McCain's hand will fold, and he will lose this election. This election is the people's choice to make. Not McCain's, not Bush's, not Carl Rowe's or any other manipulative wannabe who operates to get their way by dividing people. J.T. Not to jump into the middle of the fray but, prior to the war of Northern aggression, each state was recognised as a sovereign, independent, country with it's own individual form of government. Senators, at the time, were basically considered ambassadors to Washington DC and could be recalled at the will of the state. Lincoln, in fact, offered Lee control over the entire northern forces and Lee's response was that he could not go to war against is country. The loss of the war by the south consolidated power in DC and the slide to an all powerful central government started...the very thing the framers warned us about. The southern states were in fact fighting FOR the Constitution and states rights...interesting this isn't taught in school today/s. It would certainly be easy to make the argument that the Constitution of these united states was lost on April 9, 1865.

And Oh'Bummer's embracing the Mental Hellth State e.g., the Orwellian "New Freedom" Initiative to drug every kid in America on mind control drugs is not exactly a ringing endorsement. Both of the so-called candidates are foul scum, it is just a matter of which one stinks less.

Do you like what you hear from Bush and Cheney too? Because what I hear from Palin sounds awfully familiar - some blither about how the war in Iraq is a task from God. Seems to me that's exactly the same crap that we've been hearing from the White House for many years now.
Burkeman introduced me to a line of thought that thinks we should vote for the local guys in election, mayor - dog catcher, etc. But when voting do not vote for the presidential office and maybe not even for for the congressman or senator because the federal election system is rigged/controlled and the outcomes are predetermined because almost all elected officials from both parties on a federal level are vetted and in the pocket of the oligarch system that runs the federal govt. I have been voting Libertarian as a 'protest' vote since Clinton but I may start and not vote for anyone in federal office - just the local guys. If this movement grows then it may shake things up when officials see the citizen ignoring all but the local elections.

There is damage in it. He may not have meant to call her a pig. But the damage is in peoples perception of his words. It will push some people over to McCain. Don't doubt it.

this is where we majorly part company. yeah, the people are given a choice in the first place with puppet A or puppet B both controlled by CorporationUSA. in the second place, we have more than enough evidence of massive vote fraud which has occurred for decades in this country. a truism: "It's not the people who vote that count. I'm not a big believer in outright vote fraud deciding elections. Why would they bother with such a risky scheme, when the mass media and political parties have narrowed the (non)choice down to two candidates who are equally acceptable to the establishment elites? The basic strategy is to have the party machines and mass media marginalize and black out any candidates who might really shake things up (Ron Paul, etc), all the while making sure that whether you have an R or a D, the powers that be are equally happy. There isn't any need for vote fraud when nobody knows about or gets to vote for anyone other than two candidates that have the right brand name seals of approval.
Good second choice you've made. Me, it'll be a write in for Ron Paul. I just love telling anyone within earshot that I will be writing in Ron Paul. Many reply back that I'll be throwing my vote away or that I'll be helping elect one of the lesser of 2 evils. They invaribably tip their hand on who they support. Most can't even say why they support obanger or mcinsane. I guess it is cause their daddy told them to vote pubby or demonwit. The hell with the real concerns and issues. One of my friends used to own an Isaly's store and restaurant. Every election day he put a sign in the main front window asking passerby's not to vote. The sign said we already had enough crooks in government as it is. He also layed out the former Spotlight newspaper focusing on the governmental corruption. It would be easy to brand him as an anti-semite because he supported the Spotlight and they appeared to be anti-semitic. However, one of his best friens is Jewish. Both are retired and believe it or not, they exchange Christmas cards and visit each other from time to time. When his Jewish friend hits town, his first stop is the synogouge and then on to his friends place for some chatter and good food. I guess we could call them The Odd Couple. Now, if you have a fear of voting for one of the lesser of 2 evils, vote for one of the minority party candidates and help get rid of the garbage.
wouldn't it be great though if we all stayed home en masse or do what LAC and many others are doing, vote third party. i know it's a pipe dream because there are too many who benefit monetarily, etc with the system in place.

A lot of people who don't vote, far from being uninformed or not caring, do so out of frustration with the candidates. I think that the best way for them to vent their frustration is by a third party protest vote. However, not voting could be the next best thing. If the day comes when only 20% of eligible voters do so, idiots like Bush can't go around talking about a "mandate."
Or they may have figgered out that sockpuppet A will be about the same as sockpuppet B.

I have no doubt they can sway an election but I'm not convinced they can completely change the outcome of an overwhelming election. At any rate...I'll vote against the establishment's one party system and vote for Ron Paul, if he's on the ticket, or Chuck Baldwin if he's not.
Paul is my first choice if he's on the ballot...if not, Chuck gets the vote. It will come to down to this: Who can sell more dolls and superhero toys, Obama or Palin? Right now, Palin dolls and glasses are selling fast, hence the betting odds changing in favor of McCain.

I just saw Contessa Brewer come completely unhinged on MSNBC-TV. She lost all journalistic "integrity" and was combative, opinionated, and flat out rude in her defense of Obama. I thought I wasn't supposed to know anything about a reporters' personal politics unless they were clearly in an editorial segment of a program???
And they aren't showing the paper around rotten fish comment. Shades of Dukakis. Of course, with "rotten fish", another whole connotation. All in all, he doesn't help his case with this comment. The best defence seems to be is that it ain't much, get over it. But that ignores the reality of perceptions, a dead giveaway being the full defence being employed by this comment, in addition to the race turning into Obama v Palin. The state polls aren't lookin good either!

As you probably recall, Palin got applause at the Republican National Convention when she said that the only difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom (meaning herself) is that the latter wears lipstick. So, is she dissing herself here? There is a double standard at work, and those who buy into a double standard and gimmicks over substance are going to vote the way they will whether or not such a bald attempt at a Swift boat slam dunk is attempted or not. But I do think that this being such a clear case of false indignation will hurt McCain with swing voters. We differ on our take on this, but I have not wavered in the slightest bit in my confidence in Obama winning this race. Nothing has happened that I didn't expect, and Obama has yet to suffer more then the usual scrapes and bumps all candidates suffer in such a race. Obama's opponent is a guy who will continue the policies of a President with a 28% approval rating. If BHO were a halfway competent candidate, he'd be a shoe- in. Anyone running against George W. Bush's third term ought to be ahead in the polls by wide double digits. Instead, Obummer and Mad Mac are in dead heat, with Mad Mac actually ahead in most polls. That doesn't say very much about Obama's candidacy.
It would be great to vote for a third party candidate. If we stay home, the lousy corrupt Constitutional hating twits will believe they have already won and will believe they have a mandate. Vote third party or minority party and vote early and often. Screw these freaking control freaks. Simply ignoring will only embolden them. Let us take the Patrick Henry approach and pledge. " Give us liberty or we'll give you death".
