Obama made a huge mistake in my view with the pig comment. Now McCain has a new ad out that is gong to cream Obama. Women will be upset by this i'm sure. Rightly or wrongly. I do have one question about this ad though. Maybe some of you can help me out. There is a comment by Katie Couric and she talks about sexism. Was she talking about Obama's pig comment. I kind of doubt it. So it is a little disingenuous on the McCains camps part to put that part in the ad. I'm sure it will be quite effective though. It seems like Obama is losing it with these new poll numbers that are coming out.

It's too early in the game to be badly damaged. The MSM needs the ratings associated with a horse race. Sit back, relax, it's all out of your hands. BTW, where is Plugs Biden? Lots has been made of the missing Palin, but Biden, and the very nasty Michelle my Belle, are both MIA.

If she can't stand the heat she should stay out of the kitchen - though as a mother of a young retarded baby she should be at home in the kitchen rather then leaving the child rearing to govt employees like the cook she claimed she fired to save her state money when in reality she just kept reassigning the woman who continued to cook for her family.

But GOP bots are stupid creatures who are not able to think much and love manufactured issues to be outraged by. I love how these GOP bots betray their conservative values - the crowd that says the best role for a woman is to be a mother is supporting a woman who just pops them out and then lets the hired help raise the kids on the taxpayers dime.

Yes it is out of my hands.

But the slip ups Obama is making are huge problems. They are screwing up attacking Palin constantly. Also the fact that Obama is black leads me to think he wont be elected. There are a lot of people who don't like blacks. Even democrats. I'm not one of them but there are many and it will have an effect.

I don't Obama was calling Palin a pig. I think that is just a common phrase and he used it at a bad time. But it will nevertheless have an impact.

I love how you some think the selection has not already been made and it does not matter which side wins - there is no difference between the two on matters that the Military Industrial Complex cares about.

You should ask yourself why the so called independent news is ignoring Biden. I mean all the news media pretty much have the same stories. In Europe I would read 5 or 6 newspapers and each one was different - very little matched how it was reported - different headlines stories - stories that were national news were covered differently in different sections of the newspaper.

Here in the states I can pick up papers and they match each other! Listen to the television nightly news and the same stories are presented almost identically in the same order at the same time. I switch back and forth on news shows and they would all lead with the same story, same second news item, same third news item. The human interest story sometimes is different.

It is amazing to me that Americans do not see how they are being manipulated.

McCain with his use of the same common expression, with Obama's use of it long before McCain's choice for his co-loser in this race has over reached his hand.

Barack Obama merely has to pluck the ripe fruit of people's weariness of Swift Boat lies and garbage and call McCain's hand.

John McCain's hand will fold, and he will lose this election.

This election is the people's choice to make. Not McCain's, not Bush's, not Carl Rowe's or any other manipulative wannabe who operates to get their way by dividing people.

There is no damage in this remark, only in the phony and contrived reaction to it that is so transparent to everybody.

J.T.

Not to jump into the middle of the fray but, prior to the war of Northern aggression, each state was recognised as a sovereign, independent, country with it's own individual form of government. Senators, at the time, were basically considered ambassadors to Washington DC and could be recalled at the will of the state.

Lincoln, in fact, offered Lee control over the entire northern forces and Lee's response was that he could not go to war against is country.

The loss of the war by the south consolidated power in DC and the slide to an all powerful central government started...the very thing the framers warned us about. The southern states were in fact fighting FOR the Constitution and states rights...interesting this isn't taught in school today/s. It would certainly be easy to make the argument that the Constitution of these united states was lost on April 9, 1865.

Burkeman introduced me to a line of thought that thinks we should vote for the local guys in election, mayor - dog catcher, etc. But when voting do not vote for the presidential office and maybe not even for for the congressman or senator because the federal election system is rigged/controlled and the outcomes are predetermined because almost all elected officials from both parties on a federal level are vetted and in the pocket of the oligarch system that runs the federal govt.

I have been voting Libertarian as a 'protest' vote since Clinton but I may start and not vote for anyone in federal office - just the local guys. If this movement grows then it may shake things up when officials see the citizen ignoring all but the local elections.

this is where we majorly part company. yeah, the people are given a choice in the first place with puppet A or puppet B both controlled by CorporationUSA. in the second place, we have more than enough evidence of massive vote fraud which has occurred for decades in this country.

a truism: "It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes." ~Stalin

a vote for one or the other branch of the establishment party only serves to enable the ongoing fraud.

I'm not a big believer in outright vote fraud deciding elections.

Why would they bother with such a risky scheme, when the mass media and political parties have narrowed the (non)choice down to two candidates who are equally acceptable to the establishment elites?

The basic strategy is to have the party machines and mass media marginalize and black out any candidates who might really shake things up (Ron Paul, etc), all the while making sure that whether you have an R or a D, the powers that be are equally happy. There isn't any need for vote fraud when nobody knows about or gets to vote for anyone other than two candidates that have the right brand name seals of approval.

Good second choice you've made. Me, it'll be a write in for Ron Paul.

I just love telling anyone within earshot that I will be writing in Ron Paul. Many reply back that I'll be throwing my vote away or that I'll be helping elect one of the lesser of 2 evils. They invaribably tip their hand on who they support. Most can't even say why they support obanger or mcinsane. I guess it is cause their daddy told them to vote pubby or demonwit. The hell with the real concerns and issues.

One of my friends used to own an Isaly's store and restaurant. Every election day he put a sign in the main front window asking passerby's not to vote. The sign said we already had enough crooks in government as it is. He also layed out the former Spotlight newspaper focusing on the governmental corruption.

It would be easy to brand him as an anti-semite because he supported the Spotlight and they appeared to be anti-semitic. However, one of his best friens is Jewish. Both are retired and believe it or not, they exchange Christmas cards and visit each other from time to time. When his Jewish friend hits town, his first stop is the synogouge and then on to his friends place for some chatter and good food. I guess we could call them The Odd Couple.

Now, if you have a fear of voting for one of the lesser of 2 evils, vote for one of the minority party candidates and help get rid of the garbage.

A lot of people who don't vote, far from being uninformed or not caring, do so out of frustration with the candidates.

I think that the best way for them to vent their frustration is by a third party protest vote. However, not voting could be the next best thing. If the day comes when only 20% of eligible voters do so, idiots like Bush can't go around talking about a "mandate."

Have you heard about this?

" Palin Is Not Snow White

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

What Did Palin Say

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

It was a direct jab at Obama beating Hillary Clinton....."

If she actually said this, it would have been all over the news by now and Mad Mac would be looking for a new running mate. Just gossip mill material, IMO. One thing the MSM does not tolerate in its puppet candidates is political incorrectness, humorous or not.

As you probably recall, Palin got applause at the Republican National Convention when she said that the only difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom (meaning herself) is that the latter wears lipstick. So, is she dissing herself here?

There is a double standard at work, and those who buy into a double standard and gimmicks over substance are going to vote the way they will whether or not such a bald attempt at a Swift boat slam dunk is attempted or not.

But I do think that this being such a clear case of false indignation will hurt McCain with swing voters. We differ on our take on this, but I have not wavered in the slightest bit in my confidence in Obama winning this race.

Nothing has happened that I didn't expect, and Obama has yet to suffer more then the usual scrapes and bumps all candidates suffer in such a race.

Obama's opponent is a guy who will continue the policies of a President with a 28% approval rating. If BHO were a halfway competent candidate, he'd be a shoe- in.

Anyone running against George W. Bush's third term ought to be ahead in the polls by wide double digits. Instead, Obummer and Mad Mac are in dead heat, with Mad Mac actually ahead in most polls. That doesn't say very much about Obama's candidacy.

wouldn't it be great though if we all stayed home en masse or do what LAC and many others are doing, vote third party. i know it's a pipe dream because there are too many who benefit monetarily, etc with the system in place.

It would be great to vote for a third party candidate. If we stay home, the lousy corrupt Constitutional hating twits will believe they have already won and will believe they have a mandate.

Vote third party or minority party and vote early and often. Screw these freaking control freaks. Simply ignoring will only embolden them. Let us take the Patrick Henry approach and pledge. " Give us liberty or we'll give you death".

At least two factors are at work here:

(1) The corporate media, including 99 percent of the overpaid anchors, are for the GOP because of tax policy issues. They have a personal stake in not being taxed at higher rates plus their corporate bosses have even bigger stakes.

(2) Obama is still (half) black.

(2) Obama is still (half) black.

To be more accurate he is half African. His ancestors are not linked to the Africans that arrived to the USA over generations.

That is the curious (neither good or bad) about Obama - he was an outsider all round. He was outsider even within the black community because he is a first generation African without any link to the African American with slave ancestors and the culture they produced. That is why it may seem he can move beyond Black politics - they really are not his people per say even though America's culture kind of pigeon holes him as part of the group - a group he adopted late in life to fit in.

I say this not in the way a Rush Limbough type would say it as in Obama adopted black Americans as his own for political purposes like this was planned from the get go. If Obama had grown up in South Africa under aparthied he would have adopted the culture of the 'coloreds' who were the mixed race groups in that system. Society always tries to force you into a group or role based on who you were born to and what you resemble.

When was the last time this ever happened? Since Kennedy ushered in the TV president - looks and personality are all that counts on the left and right for the vast majority of people. In fact any candidate left or right would be destroyed if he went into super detailed policy planks. The only ones that do that are considered kooks by the mainstream media like Ron Paul or Kuchinik (spelling??).

The blacks I've known who are actually from Africa usually don't have the attitude problems typical of American blacks. They don't generally play the victim card or use their race as an excuse for their lot in life, at least not to the degree that US blacks who learned to play the race card before they could walk.

All the more puzzling his links with Wright.

He had no need to subscribe to the narrative of Black America.

Many African immigrants don't.

Yet he did. For political reasons, perhaps his wife's urgings.

What may have been smart in the wards of Chicago, then to win a Senate seat both locally and nationally and then the Dem primary has it's pitfalls with the greater electorate, particularly when Hillary held her fire.

Wright is more than likely his wife's choice for a preacher in church. Like many families - women control the religious aspects of the household. Do you think Palin's religous views are the same as her husband's? The guy seems to go along to get along in that house. Even then, I have a low threshold of respect for American Protestant churches and find the white right wing churches the other side of the same coin. White right wing churches routinely say God is damning America - see Katrina and 9/11 for more recent examples.

Obama spoke an absolutely coherent paragraph, comparing W's policies to McCain's. The conclusion being that there was no difference between them, concluding that McCain was attempting to present his policies as something different than W's but all that he was doing was putting lipstick on a pig. It had NOTHING to do with Palin. Palin was not mentioned within that context.

If the McCain people believe it was about Palin maybe it's THEIR dirty minds and this is how THEY see Palin.

Obama could have been calling her a pig indirectly. I don't think he was, but he may have been. So it is fair to put the ad up. Obama is free to put ads up to. He can defend it and call them distorters and liars. Then the people can decide.

Let's be clear...I can't stand McInsane, or Obammy for that matter, but I firmly believe the old kook WILL stomp Obammy...not because of anything he's done...but when the RNC got Palin, they made a BRILLIANT move. This is going to bring on board the sleeping "conservative" base that was not energized by liberal McNasty and the fact she is a woman going to bring on a lot of women voters. I really like what I'm hearing from Palin but I refuse to vote for the crazy one just so she can be VP. I REFUSE to vote for the lessor of 2 evils...so I'm be voting for the person that BEST reflects my views...Chuck Baldwin, and NO, I'm NOT throwing away my vote.

Not true, although it's been said often in better times. All that voting means is that you brought yourself to participate. It may be that sitting out a vote says more than going in and pulling one of the pre-approved levers. Actually, telling people that they have to vote simply perpetuates the problem. If we all refused to vote, the government would be much more obviously illegitimate. As it is, they can point to the small number of people who do turn out to vote and claim they "represent" the people.

What about voting third party?

It doesn't give you any more valid option of complaining. It just means that you voted, nothing more. You have a right to complain because you're a citizen. Period.

Well yes, relatively speaking if you compare your situation to that of an abject slave with a cruel master, you probably are. But it isn't likely that you are as free as you should be or were intended to be. If you are I can only say good for you and I am glad you made it off the plantation and live in perfect freedom. Do you have directions to the Big Rock Candy Mountains?

old friend...don't pay your tribute (taxes) to the king and you'll see how free you are. Even the surfs in feudal England where only required to pay 25% tribute to their king...in this country, it's more like 70%.

Obummer knew exactly what he was saying. There's a rumor going around that he got together with that turd James Carville and came up with these snide remarks.

Yes, he's saying that all of the McCain talk is BS. Do you dispute that?

Do you REALLY believe that McCain is going to 'follow Ben Ladin to the gates of Hell?' Of course not. It's BS. What other claims is he making? Oh, yes... what is he going to do about 'evil'? He's going to 'defeat it'. BS again.

Anything else?

Why are you asking me? Last time I checked Youtube is a private company not a public service utility. Ask them and try to figure out why did they take it out.

Like I said, they took out the Leona Lewis/Jimmi Page video. That pisses me. But, I AM NOT ASKING YOU TO EXPLAIN Youtube's decision to take THAT out. Do you care to explain Youtube's action regarding Leona Lewis/Jimmi Page video? And, if not, why not?

So you can't answer if they should have taken the video down. Instead yougive the excuse that "you can't explain youtubes decision. Then what makes you think you are qualified to explain, or should I say try to explain away each and every of Obamas.

NOW THERE IS THIS

Obama On Letterman: 'McCain Policy Is The Pig' Presidential Hopeful Says Media Took His Words And Ran; Defends Bush Policies On Afghanistan, AIDS In Africa NEW YORK (CBS) 53; Presidential hopeful Barack Obama appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman" in New York on Wednesday after a day of heated debate by media and political pundits over comments some took as a slam against Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Obama spent much of his visit talking about Palin and clarifying his earlier comments.

"This is sort of silly season in politics, not that there's a non-silly season, but it gets sillier," Obama said. "And it's a common expression in at least Illinois. I don't know about New York City. I don't know what you put lipstick on here."

Obama said to him the expression "lipstick on a pig" in this case applies to having a bad idea and trying to pass it off as change.

"Just calling [ideas] change, calling them different doesn't make it better, hence lipstick on a pig," Obama said.

He then clarified his statements even more.

"Keep in mind, technically, had I meant it this way, [Palin] would be the lipstick. The failed policies of John McCain would be the pig, just following the logic of this illogical situation," Obama said.

Earlier in the day, Obama accused Republican McCain's campaign of using "lies and phony outrage and Swift-boat politics" in claiming he used a sexist comment against Palin.

Calling it "the latest made-up controversy by the John McCain campaign," Obama responded to the Republicans' charge that he was referring to Palin when he used the phrase "lipstick on a pig" at a campaign stop Tuesday.

"I don't care what they say about me. But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and Swift-boat politics. Enough is enough," he said.

During his visit with Letterman, Obama talked about visiting Disneyland, boyhood memories, joking with his 87-year-old grandmother and embarrassing his daughters on their first day back to school.

Obama said his grandmother's reaction when he won the nomination was pretty simple: "That's nice, that's nice."

Obama praised President George W. Bush's efforts to send aid to countries in Africa. Obama, whose father was Kenyan, visited the African country in 2007.

"People there are more energetic and optimistic than you could possibly imagine," said Obama.

Regarding rumors of former president Bill Clinton's future as part of an Obama administration cabinet, the senator downplayed that possibility.

"If you're a former president, I don't think you settle for a cabinet position," he said. "It's sort of like Mickey Mantle playing AAA (baseball).

"There's nobody smarter in politics," Obama said of Bill Clinton. "I think he can be a great advocate for the campaign."

Obama is now coming up with meanings to what he said. He ad libbed his pig comment. Now trying to say there was some meaning to it seems like he is lying.

Just got this email. No I did't donate.

They're Getting Desperate

The vicious smears on Gov. Sarah Palin are out of control. They're attacking her family, her faith, her experience, and even her hair.

And here's what Barack Obama said today in what some view as a not-so-subtle reference to John McCain's running mate:

"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig." ("Obama, Dems sharpen personal attacks on Palin," Jim Vandehei & Mike Allen, Politico, 9/9/08)

Just yesterday, Obama was mocking her as a "moose shooter." It's clearly panic time for the Democrats. These disgusting, chauvinist comments have no place in our politics.

Help us defend Gov. Palin and her family by contributing $25, $50, $100 or $500 today.

While the media and the Democrats attack, our volunteer activity is going through the roof, and the enthusiasm for the McCain-Palin ticket across Ohio has been phenomenal. As I write this, we're adding new staff to accommodate the surge of support.

Help us keep the momentum going! We need critical funds for television ads, candidate mail, phone calls and slate cards.

Donate $25, $50, $100 or $500 right now with a secure, online contribution.

Tell the Democrats you're tired of their smears on Gov. Palin. Enough is enough. Let's win this thing.
