he story of a 15 year old boy in Lubbock, Texas in need of a liver transplant because of health complications relating to obesity is the latest case highlighting the need for parents to step up and teach their children healthy eating habits. We believe that parents have a responsibility to teach their children healthy eating habits. Raising your children on a meat-based diet that might lead them to the hospital or an early grave is child abuse, plain and simple. And that’s exactly the message on PETA’s new billboard we’re trying to run in Lubbock, Texas. The boy’s diet consisted of mostly burgers and pizza which (duh!) resulted in a fatty liver. This is not a health problem a child should ever have to face, but unfortunately, he’s not the only one. It is becoming a sickening sign of the adolescent obesity epidemic that some adolescents are requiring liver transplants due to their poor diets rich in fats. To help spotlight that vegetarianism is a key to overcoming obesity in children and parents’ responsibility in getting this message to their children, PETA’s billboard with the tagline, "Feeding kids meat is child abuse - Fight the fat - GoVeg.com." will hopefully be hitting Lubbock shortly. childabuse.JPG Many children who are fed a diet of saturated fat- and cholesterol-laden burgers, nuggets, and hot dogs show symptoms of heart disease by the time they reach first grade. Parents don’t need to be told that feeding their children such poor diets may be slowly killing them, its common sense. But they’re feeding it to them anyway. Child abuse. Plain and simple. NEW YORK — A vegan couple in New York City were busted for starving their baby daughter — by denying her breast milk and formula, feeding her only nuts, fruits and vegetables, and allegedly failing to get her medical help for severe malnutrition. Joseph and Silva Swinton, both 31, were arrested Friday and charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child for failing to properly feed and care for their baby, Ice. The Swintons, who are being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, face up to seven years in prison if convicted. Sixteen-month-old Ice Swinton weighed only 10 pounds, looked like a 2- or 3-month-old and was half the normal weight of a child her age when authorities discovered her close to death last November. EMS workers rushed Ice to from her Queens home to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with developmental problems, a distended abdomen, fractured bones, a vitamin deficiency called rickets and a lung disorder — all caused by malnutrition, authorities said. The Swintons, who say they approach veganism as a religion, fed the child a diet of "ground nuts, fresh-squeezed fruit juices, herbal tea, beans, cod liver oil and flax seed oil," a complaint said. Even when doctors told the couple their baby was on the brink of death in November, both parents insisted "there was nothing wrong" and were resistant to treatment, the complaint said. After a four-month hospital stay, the New York City Administration for Children's Services placed the baby in a foster home. Several months on a healthy diet have helped the 20-month-old to achieve the functions of a 10- to 12-month-old baby, but the child is still struggling, authorities said. Warren Silverman, a lawyer representing the mother, questioned why there was such a long delay to file charges. "If Long Island Jewish Hospital at that time thought that something was amiss, why wasn't something done right away?" he asked. The Swintons have been allowed supervised visits with their daughter — but ACS has asked that a judge order them stopped after the father said he thought the child was getting "chubby," sources said. Neighbor Toyin Savage said she was "shocked." Another neighbor said she saw the baby recently. "I asked how old she was and they said, 'Almost a year.' She looked very small. The thing I hate most about you vegan militants is that you just live and let live. No meat eater or hunter will ever try to force you to eat meat or go hunting. Meanwhile, you vegan nuts want to shove your lifestyle down other people's throats. If you had your way, you would use the force of law to make other people to eat what you want them to eat, which is just as repellant as anybody who wants to force people to think, worship, or not worship in a particular way. If you want to live on tofu and mashed yeast, have at it. Live on a diet of sawdust for all I care, it's your life. Just learn to mind your own business when you do it. You should also ask Team Tofu why we have such short small intestines and a reduced appendix. Vegetarian monkeys have a well-developed appendix and long intestines, while we (just like our closest relatives, the omnivorous chimps) have an appendix vestige and short intestines.
Yes, there's no question that we're equipped to eat meat. In the long run, vegetarians have to take protein supplements, which is the cowards way of getting around eating meat.
Most herbivores such as cows, goats, sheep are ruminants with a 4 part stomach or have digestive systems like rabbits that actually eat their cecal material that has been bacterially changed to be higher in protein and certain vitamins. Horses don't have either, intead they have intestines so long that they have become prone to all kinds of digestive and blockage problems.

And almost all animal babies eat Momma's fresh FECAL material at some point. Full of Vits, enzymes and good bacteria.

We have long intestines dumbfuck. The small intestine is what, 21 feet? Carnivores have shorter intestines. The point is, humans can eat both meat and vegan diets. However, meat diets shorten lifespan and contribute to destructive socieites in the long term. Sorry.

Rabbits eat their poop every night. Foals eat mom's horse apples until four to six months. Calves will lick at the fresh cowpies, and baby goats and fawns gobble up the pellets. So when does the animal's behavior happen to meet with your approval?

I raise rabbits so don't tell me what they do and don't do. They eat CECAL matter which is poop, every night. They will also eat newborn aand sometimes days old litters and if in a communal situation will destroy and eat other doe's litters. Plus bucks will eat rival's ears and have been known to munch on each other's testicles.
Are they "domesticated" rabbits? Did you know that rabbits eat different kinds of fecal matter? What is "cecal" matter and does it matter if you use ALL CAPS to try to prove your point (which is moot)?

Rabbit live in burrows, you know what those are don't you? Long narrow restrictive tunnels underground which allow for privacy and protection from other rabbits. Cages accomplish the same thing. I met many of these wanna-be rebels and pseudointellectuals who latched onto one asinine political belief or another when I was in college. They were all basically the same, no matter what their flavor of the month worldview was. They were the enlightened ones, everyone else (especially their mommy and daddy) was ignorant, and if only the rest of the world would get brainwashed by the same bunk they brainwashed themselves with, we'd have a perfect world. They bored me twenty years ago, and they bore me to this day.
Cows and mares will eat the total placenta, but the afterbirth will take awhile to fall out, so they usually will be away from the birthing site when it falls, giving the baby time to get up and get sucking before predators can get the scent. I have seem them even munch on the afterbirth, often while it's still hanging. Of course if it isn't expelled within a few hours we intervene usually with a hormone shot, but usually the sucking of the baby stimulates mom's own production and it falls out on it's own. They eat placentas to protect the baby as once the placenta is removed, the babies have very little scent for predators to home in on. Rabbits eat both the placenta and the after birth and lick up any blood that may be around. This is to protect the litter. They could care less what vegetarians think about their actions.
The lack of complete protein in their diet makes them subject to lethargy and lazy thinking as the brain requires a higher level of nutrition then the diet supplies if they are not extremely careful. If they take strict care with the Vegan diet it is workable, but I live in an area with lots of vegetarians call Seventh Day Adventists and most eat eggs and quite a few eat dairy products.
When you've met and talked to one full-of-angst brat who signs onto some loony worldview (all because mommy and daddy didn't give them enough attention when they were growing up), you've met them all. No use arguing with them, it's like trying to prove a point to a drunk or a schizophrenic.
