Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that while Sen. Joe Biden was a “good choice” to be Barack Obama’s running mate, his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, “would have been the best politically.”

“It’s a very personal decision, who should be vice president,” Clinton said on ABC’s "The View." “I think that [Obama] felt more comfortable with another choice, and you have to respect that.”

“I like Sen. Biden a lot. I think he was a good choice,” the former president said, before adding of his wife, “She would have been the best politically, at least in the short run, because of her enormous support in the country.”

But despite observing that his wife would have been the best political pick, Clinton said that Hillary Clinton “didn’t” want to be Obama’s running mate.

“She said that if he asked ‘I’ll do it because it’s my duty’ but I think, look, she loves being a senator from New York.”

Clinton said that “the main thing she thought is, ‘I should have no opinion on this. I need to get out of this.’”

Clinton did not go as far as to say that if Hillary Clinton had been the vice presidential pick, it would have kept some Democratic women from supporting the Republican ticket of John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

“Voting is a complicated process,” the former president said. “We give our allegiances to candidates and parties and issues for all kinds of reasons. We vote for some people because we like them even though we disagree with them. We vote for some people because we identify with them on race or gender.

“It’s not an entirely rational process, and it is different for everybody.”

I understand that Obummer has purchased a barb proof vest to protect himself from Slick.

Ole Bill is hitting Obummer below the waterline and Obummer is taking on water.

You and Bill both think the same about what the winning combination for Obama would have been. Evidently, Obama's people should have listened to you.

Well, at least Ole Bill is hitting on Sarah, not Obummers wife.

Thus the white guilters.

Is there any doubt that behind their "party unity" facade, the Clintons want Obummer to lose this one? They're not going to let him get away with standing in the way of Queen Hillary's coronation, and for not at least giving her a VP consolation prize.

It wouldn't surprise me that Clinton operatives have dug up some dirt on BHO that they'll send to the presses as an anonymous leak in late October. In elections, when there's so little difference between candidates, it all comes down to egos and personalities.

If McKooK were to win, I would not be at all surprised that Hillary would indeed be Sec. of State.

Pay off if you will.

I still think that Mad Dog will make Lieberman secretary of state. It would be funny though to watch the Hannity/Freeper people find a way to spin a Hillary pick, after all those months spent talking about how McCain is God and Hillary is the devil.
