EUGENE, Ore. -- A bicyclist led a state trooper on a 5-mile, slow-speed chase on Highway 58 east of Eugene, prompting troopers to set up a roadblock and tackle the cyclist to make him stop.

Oregon State Police Trooper Steve Thrapp responded to a report of a bicyclist wearing dark clothes and riding without lights at 7:20 a.m. this morning. Thrapp located the cyclist 16 miles east of Eugene riding west in the eastbound lanes on a mountain bike.

The cyclist did not respond to Thrapp's overhead lights and siren and instead weaved back and forth across the road, according to state police. Traffic backed up behind the patrol car as Thrapp followed the bicyclist.

Thrapp called for assistance, and Tooper Casey Codding and recruit Cale Day set up a roadblock 11 miles east of Eugene.

When the bicyclist attempted to ride around the patrol car, Codding tackled the bicyclist to make him stop.

Officers arrested the bicyclist, Robert James Frank, 39, of Eugene, for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and failing to obey a police officer around 7:50 a.m., a half hour after officers first tried to pull him over.

Yeah, he's lucky..........loddy, but I bet you stopped long enough to read this article for the same reason that I did.......I had Ferret Mike in mind....just thinking that one of these days that guy has got to pop loose with a good one, or two or three. :)

Frank's lucky that he wasn't tased to a halt.

We had a local here not too long ago who was killed by a LEO while riding his bike at night.

The sheriff was called because, well, he somehow, for some reason, or another he told his deputies to turn off their dash camera's when they run over people.

The judge agreed and said the sheriff does not have to deal with the useless eaters who ask why there is no video from that night when the deputy ran over some kid going home...

I don't know who is nuttier, the grown man on a tricycle, or the cops for bothering him.

I think since the guy on the bike would mostly only hurt himself (if he got runnovverd) and does not tackle people who are breaking a law and arresting him on bogus charges, the "nuttiest" award goes to the pigs.

Say what you will, Ferret Mike is a decent, fine person. That we disagree on major issues, I don't mind, because I don't want a bunch of clones to sit around and talk with--you learn nothing that way.

AND, a super big plus is that Ferret Mike is a real man, a gentleman, AND a gentle man. He doesn't type down/talk down, and when you remain even half-way civil, Ferret remains civil. Keep it up enough, and he'll clean your clock..........all this, of course, is verbally, though I would suspect Ferret is not a whiny-assed simpering 'he man' sort. He'd probably kick your chins, and as you looked up in horror, *zap*, you'be be cold-cocked. JMO.........I rather think he fights much like my brother did after he got out of the specialized military training he received. :)

Ferret, I only ping ya because I've taken the liberty of using your name.

It would be interesting to know the racial composition of this sad circus.

Are there any black cyclists?

I have no idea whether there are black cyclists or not--I generally don't look at the color of skin when I see someone on a bike--I'm generally watching that they don't 'zip' out in front of me........or fall on their faces. :)

There's that, also.

Austin is lousy with Lance wannabee's.

I hate them all.

The county taxed us a half-million dollars for a VeloWay for these cretins, and now they want to use the public roads...

Beam Me Up.
