Troopergate Report: Palin Abused Power Unanimous but Contentious Vote to Release the Report to the Public By JUSTIN ROOD Oct. 10, 2008

(AP Graphic) Sarah Palin abused her power when she fired her Public Safety Commissioner this July, a state investigation has concluded.

The Alaska legislature voted to release the several-hundred page report on the "Troopergate" scandal, a state kerfuffle which has come to haunt Gov. Sarah Palin's vice presidential bid. The scandal centered around her firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, which Monegan and others believed was part of a personal vendetta against one of his subordinates.

The 14-member, Republican-dominated Legislative Council met in closed session this morning with the investigation's special counsel, Stephen Branchflower. After seven hours of exhaustive review, the legislators voted unanimously to release the report to the public.

"I'm going to vote to release it, but it's not a vote in total agreement," said Republican Sen. Gary Stevens.

"There's not a consensus for the conclusion," said GOP Rep. Bill Stoltze. He said he expected there would be "robust and vigorous intellectual debate on that in other corners."

Stoltze said he had received hundreds of e-mails from all over the country calling for the public release of the report. The state added extra servers to handle the traffic expected when the report is posted electronically to the legislature's Web site.

The Legislative Council voted unanimously to initiate the investigation in late July, after Palin fired former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The probe was to determine whether she fired Monegan because he refused to take action against a state trooper who had been through a messy divorce from Palin's sister.

Palin denied wrongdoing and initially voiced support for the investigation. But after she joined the national Republican ticket, she and her supporters said the legislature had no right to investigate her, and accused legislators involved in the probe of supporting Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's presidential bid.

A lawsuit to stop the probe, which echoed many of the campaign's charges, was thrown out yesterday by the state Supreme Court.

BTW - I feel that McSame chose Ms. Palin deliberately knowing she had damaging baggage so he and the Republicans could loose the Presidential election and blame it on a scape goat. - IMHO

Pitiful excuses for human beings they are. Ignoring Obama's ties to terrorists while making a big deal about a witch hunt over firing a state employee. She had very right to fire the dude. She doesn't even have to give a reason for firing him. The guy she fired abused his wife and threatened to kill her.

Her violation is not firing Wooten. She abused power by pressuring subordinates, including Wooten, to fire that brother-in-law of hers.

Do you understand abuse of power? It's the thing that scumbags such as Stalin, Mao or Nixon were known for.

But, I bet, you don't understand much.

Facts are Ayers broke the law and Obama is his good friend. Ayers didn't get a life-term in jail only becasue of a technicality. Obama hangs out with terrorists and think a story about a governor firing an employee that abused his wife and threatened to kill her is going anywhere? Funny! Their conclusion that she abused her power means nothing. Unless a court of law determines that it carries no weight other than to smear a popular governor.

God is always good!

I'm not even sure that "Ayers" is such a bad guy.

From what little I know of him, he was protesting against the Vietnam war.

I'm too young to have had the opportunity to loose my life in that f**ked up war, but wasn't the Vietnam war a bad idea? So maybe, wasn't Ayers somewhat correct?

Is abuse of power a crime or just an ethical lapse in Alaska??

from wiki

The Lorax is a children's book, written by Dr. Seuss and first published in 1971. It chronicles the plight of the environment and the Lorax (a "mossy, bossy" man-like creature resembling an emperor tamarin), who speaks for the trees against the greedy Once-ler. As in most of Dr. Seuss's works, most of the creatures mentioned are original to the book.

The book is commonly recognized as a fable concerning industrialized society, using the literary element of personification to give life to industry as the Once-ler (whose face is never shown in all of the story's illustrations) and to the environment as the Lorax. It has become a popular metaphor for those concerned about the human impact on the environment.

-----

Candidate Comparison: Top Contributors 2008 Cycle

Barack Obama

Goldman Sachs $739,521
University of California $697,506
Harvard University $501,489
Citigroup Inc $492,548
Google Inc $487,355

John McCain

Merrill Lynch $349,170
Citigroup Inc $287,801
Morgan Stanley $249,377
Goldman Sachs $220,045
JPMorgan Chase & Co $206,392
-----

They both share Citigroup and Goldman Sux as backers. The real money's backing Obama and McCain is the dancing monkey in the circus to make Obama look good. On top of it all, Jewgle loves Obama too.

It looks like America is going to have an honest to God banker-backed Marxist as president, all bought and paid for fair and square. Remember what happened in Russia when banker-backed Marxists ran the joint?

I'm not even sure that "Ayers" is such a bad guy.

From what little I know of him, he was protesting against the Vietnam war.

Ayers was a bad guy.

The weathermen were overt Marxists that used dissent over Viet Nam to try to recruit people to their cause. It didn't work, nobody was buying their communist BS. About the only thing they did well was drop out and go into hiding after a few bombings. They stayed in hiding for over 25 years...doing nothing

It's an indication of the depth of the conditioning and brainwashing that the apex-dwellers have been foisting upon four or five generations of Americans. Most of the sheep will die ignorant of the fact that they spent their entire lives being suckered. I try to be patient with people still in the dark but I also don't waste a lot of time on them. If someone's eyes aren't starting to open to the election grift, they're dense as an oak post.

YOU are the one that suggests they're howling at the wind over the Ayers-Obama connection. The 'storyline' put out to date is that they just happen to live in the same neighborhood, they just happen to have their kids in the same school, that they just happen to be on not one board of directors of some organizqation, but 2 boards, Ayers just happened to give a Meet the Candidate party at his house for Obama----but they have no connections with each other.

So, I'm asking you if you would have us believe that there nothing there? Puleeze......that is exactly why I asked you how many parties you or your friends give for people you don't know. People don't give parties in their homes for people they don't know or are not familiar with.

Guess I forgot to give my opinion as to the topic of the thread.......

According to the article I read, the lead investigator said she abused power; however, the legislative committee didn't approve the report or adopt the report; they took no action on the content of the report--other than to put it out to the public, and that was due seemingly to pressure.

So the investigator, who has leadings to the D side of the the world says she did. It is my feelings that she herself should have been stronger in demanding some action.

It hasn't been in just the last week that people have been tazered and died; that moron former BIL could have killed a 10 year old kid!

Furthermore, with threads being made to the family, I don't blame Todd for wanting the guy gone. Would you appreciate an ex- making threads against your wife, or your daughter's ex-husband doing it, or to your Mom? It seems like you can pick the paper up daily or near daily and find that some idiot parent has killed their kids and spouse. You can sure bet had the guy followed through, they'd be nailing Todd's ass for not having the balls to take care of his family.

With that said, were it just stupid talk from the former BIL, it would be really, really, really stupid on the part of that family to try to get the guy fired when there are children who need child support. And as a state trooper, he'd be making good money, and have excellent benefits which would cover the kids.

Excerpt from The Daily Reckoning:

We like Sarah Palin; we don't know what she is talking about. But she is the only candidate we can't make fun of it for.

Consider this. You will find it hard to follow. Because it is not in English; it is in Palinese:

"That's what I say that I like every American I am speaking with we're ill about this position that we been put in where it is taxpayers looking to bailout, but ultimately what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, um, helping the, oh, it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and, and, putting it back on the right track; so health care reform and reducing taxes and reigning in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans and trade... we have we got to see trade as an opportunity not as, a competitive, um, scary thing, but one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we we've got to look at that as more opportunity, all of those things under the umbrella of job creation, this bailout is part of that..."

But just because the woman is a half-wit hardly disqualifies her from public office. The average county commissioner or governor is not much better. And at least one of America's finest presidents was probably little smarter than a moron.

We refer to Warren Harding.

This explanatory statement makes your figures more meaningful:

From the webpage...

"These tables list the top donors to these candidates in the 2008 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization's PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

Because of contribution limits, organizations that bundle together many individual contributions are often among the top donors to presidential candidates. These contributions can come from the organization's members or employees (and their families). The organization may support one candidate, or hedge its bets by supporting multiple candidates."

Non-sequitur. Yes, they would be different histories. But if the differences are orthogonal to your values, then they don't matter.

The claim that there is no difference, if innocent, confuses a subjective statement of values for an objective fact of the universe.

N.B. This behavior is more frequent among women.

Is there a qualitative difference between a husky crapping on your carpet or a dalmatian crapping on the sofa?

Perhaps if one is a husky or a dalmation.

I think it's an emotional rather than a rational response.

Of course. That's the way humans work. Le Bon was right. Reason does not sit the throne of man's mind.

People get emotionally attached to party, football team, Coke/Pepsi, Trotsky/Stalin, etc.

Or their children, relatives, and nation.

Objectively, my children do not deserve my help and love more than any other child. Phenomenologically, such a degree of objectivity extinguishes itself.

The problem is not emotional attachments or irrationality in the service of emotional attachments. The problem is self-defeating, misdirected emotional attachments.

which is why the brainwashing media appeals to peoples' baser emotions

or the nobler ones

The powers that be would be out of business if people actually thought for themselves.

Yes, and they would also be out of business if all electrical conductors on the planet were suddenly quenched, which has about the same probability of happening.

And that's not a bad thing. Just as it would be impossible to get dressed and drive to work if you actually had to consciously consider every decision made along the way, self-possessed rationality is incompatible with having a society at all. Self-possessed rationality is cost-prohibitive, and is not the optimal solution to the survival and success of the phenotype/genotype.

For these reasons, choosing to vote for a politician simply because they remind you of you is just as sensible, in the absence of other information, and in the face of long habit, as crossing the street to avoid a hooded person of de colored.

It is not just to damn people for it, IMO. More importantly, it is not effective.

Funny!

It's hilarious to watch the minority party (you know those "closet Log Cabin Christians" who don't have the guts to come out and stop using religion for cover) getting all gaga over Sarah Mooseburger. And, Hell, she may have had a chance if Bush hadn't registered so many voters in the past 8 years. If these stoopid Pubs think that Dems will vote for her, well, all the Dems will have to hear is how cozy Sarah is with big oil, and young people know that if MR BIG needs more troops to defend "his new pipelines and oilfields" "Songbird" and Sarah will push through a poor man's draft to fight the rich man's war in a heartbeat!

It's gut splitting funny to see these dirty Republican bastards trying to stop the groups who are registering voters, especially since their president has registered more DEMs than any org ever!

And, when I see these dirty old men going ape over Sarah it makes me wonder what kind of beasts they have waiting for them at home (Think Babs Bush-ugh) and it also explains why so many "conservatives" can't pass a public restroom without stopping off for a tap dance with arguably (fe)male companions, but, who are obviously preferable to the hairy footed, hump-backed hobbits waiting for the senators and reps at home!

HAH!

Let me break the news to them, chris:

Your party had Ron Paul and you tossed him for a crazy son of privilege and a clueless, vindictive, abusive, lying, unfaithful hack, and all because her Russian weight lifters-thighs got you all excited!

And, when I see these dirty old men going ape over Sarah it makes me wonder what kind of beasts they have waiting for them at home (Think Babs Bush-ugh

I believe that this is the music that you had in mind:

But in (but in) the town it was well known,

No idea. Maybe one that governs only themselves? ; )

I'm a little dense on some matters, so I have a question for you mano a womano:

Does Sarah Palin strike you as a woman that would use her wiles and charms to get ahead in this world?

I trust you get my drift.

Americans had Ron Paul. It was our last chance to stand as one. And look at the continued attacks on him. It was a choice of survival or suicide. Partisans chose for us all.

Doesn't everyone use whatever game they have to their best interest?

It depends on how far one is willing to go to use what they have.
