If you read William L. Shirer, he attended many of the German mass rallies. He made the remark that he could never understand the mass hysteria, due to pageantry and oratory. Seeing the people enthralled and mesmerized was was beyond belief. We have such susceptible people here on 4um.

Ah, yes, that AIPAC. Except for being a lone outpost in the Middle East generally supporting the US, and a major staging area and military aid recipient, I've often wondered why Israel has been an essential commitment of US presidents. I don't think that's a bad thing, but their occupation of Palestinian lands and oppression of people is not a good thing. It's clearly a conundrum. Until there is greater stability in the area, and peace among its nations -- bigger job now after Bush disasters, hmm? -- I think we're going to have to continue extraordinary support for Israel. I don't want to invite the Zionist-anti-Zionist stuff with this comment. It's as puzzling to me as the Shiite-Sunni conflicts, seeming ancient and irrelevant today. I will step out of this discussion because these are issues I don't understand, in the end.

It's not hard to understand. We're told that Israel is our "only friend" in the Mideast. Before Israel, we had no enemies in the Mideast. Obama and McCain pretend to disgree when, in fact, they're in complete sympatico on the single most important foreign policy issue facing Americans. As I said, it's not hard to understand.
When I see people shrieking and jumping around at political rallies I wonder why I should feel more embarassed for their lack of self-control than they do. Teeny boppers. Raging hormones. Giggles. Fan clubs. The only thing missing is pubescent pimples.
Glad to see that I have other company, that I am not alone in this world.
I guess he gives them hope. Unfortunately, pictures like that destroy all of mine, regardless of which candidate is currently packing (sucking) them in.

So are chariot races: The only thing that picture proves is that 99.9% of the people of this country are going to get what they deserve. The other 0.1% like me, my mother, Chrissy, Jethro, Cynicom, Lodwick, and several others here don't deserve what's coming.
I always aspired to be a hill billy, but never made it quite that far. Is that close enuf for soul cuzins?
Because decent, honest people don't need or want to be surrounded by braindead idolizers.
This time around there will be no middle class. There will be the elite and the "no class" as in the days of serfdom.
After listening to the Howard Stern show interviews with voters in Harlem, I'm almost convinced that we have the government that we deserve. Give it a listen if you haven't already.

Did I ask a question about TV? (Short term memory loss, lol) What I meant about never getting that far is that I've been all around this country, some places more than once ... except for your part of it, even though I've always felt like I belonged there.
I don't know about that, but we seem to have enough creeps around who'll spill the blood of old ladies and kids to get their gladiator fixes.
