O'jahnae Smith is ready and registered to vote this November.

There's only one problem: She's 7 years old.

The Connecticut girl is 11 years too young - and nobody in her family knows how she ended up on a voter registration form submitted by ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

"She's registered to vote?" said a surprised Jerome Smith, O'jahnae's teenage brother. "She's too young to vote."

But that didn't stop someone from forging the child's signature on a voter registration card and giving her a fake birth date that upped her age to 27. The family told The Post a drug-addicted relative may have given the bogus card to ACORN.

Voter registration fraud complaints like these continue to mount for the group, already under scrutiny in 11 states where hundreds, if not thousands, of new registrations are being questioned.

ACORN volunteers have been found to register dead people and even put members of the Dallas Cowboys on Nevada lists.

The community organizing group has a long history of flooding low- and middle-income neighborhoods in election years with temporary workers instructed to register 20 to 25 voters per day - or risk getting fired.

Most states prohibit paying per signature, but ACORN workers earning $8 to $9 an hour still have to hit their quotas. And many need the money - including some ex-cons in work-release programs.

ACORN's controversial tactics have fueled John McCain's criticism of Barack Obama, whose campaign paid an ACORN spinoff - Community Services Inc. - about $800,000 to knock on doors and urge people to vote for Obama in four key primary states: Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

In his pre-politics days, Obama ran the Illinois chapter of Project Vote in 1992, before it hooked up with ACORN.

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis on Friday called for a freeze on taxpayer dollars to ACORN until recent allegations have been investigated.

Meanwhile, state authorities in New Mexico, Indiana, Missouri, Connecticut, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Nevada have launched probes of bogus voter registration forms filed by ACORN.

Roberta Casteel, a nurse, is one of several dozen Nevada voters caught in the web of fake ACORN registrations. Casteel, a registered voter since 1991, was shocked to receive a letter rejecting a voter application she didn't know she'd made.

Authorities said they'd received two voter applications in her name: one as a Democrat and one as an independent. Both cards had her address, date of birth and Social Security number, and were submitted by ACORN workers. Neither signature matched her original one on file.

A former ACORN worker in Pennsylvania has already been charged with 17 counts of identity theft and forgery.

Other states are sifting through cartons of suspicious forms.

The ACORN shenanigans likely won't rise to actual voting fraud, stressed election law expert Terri Enns at Ohio State University.

"ACORN's problematic registrations create extra work for election boards, because they have to check them, but it's not double voting," she said.

It is our patriotic DUTY to vote. That was embalmed into our heads in school, remember???

Also this was taught...If I do not vote, I have no right to complain...remember that?

All of that sounded good as long as we did as taught, did not question, and most of all did no thinking on our own.

BTW, I read an article that you might find interesting:

www.mcclatchydc.com/251/s tory/53802.html

"Last March, Janet Yellen, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, debunked the notion that the push for affordable housing created today's problems." The article refutes the Freddie Fannie argument with which you agree, and negates " that lending to poor and minority Americans caused Fannie's and Freddie's financial problems."

Whites will decide this race, either way.

I suspect the non racist white guilters will send Obongo into office with much fanfare such as heralded the coming of Lyndon Johnson.

The system owners conned the voters then and are doing the same now. The honkies will vote McKooK or stay home, the white guilters such as we have here will kneepad all the way into the booth to show their repentance for being white.

Specifically, my point is that the Freddie Fannie loans to non qualified buyers are not the primary cause of the economic collapse. The focus of my comment to you is within the article, ie the MSM "conservative" journalists are targeting the FF debacle when the scope of the problem lies elsewhere. A good question would be "why"?

Meanwhile, you're merely repeating Rush Limbaugh type talking points without penetrating the source of the problems and therefore the culprits. (Hint, not poor blacks or the programs intially envisioned to relieve poverty.) This is the area where I think you waste your intellect.

American elections (beginning w/JFK in my lifetime) are as crooked as that of any 3rd nation. Enjoy!

You really have to laugh at the news media. They use exit polls to verify the legitimate votes in 3rd world countries but when they don't match here, well there was something wrong with the exit polls themselves not the vote counts. (incert eyerolling smilie here)

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802

"Back to the seemingly odd choice of Biden. Columnist Susan Abulhawa rationalized Obama’s decision. "Biden, the self-proclaimed Zionist, assuages Israeli and Jewish American fears that Mr. Obama might not be so accommodating to Israel." This view was corroborated repeatedly in Israeli media, but most importantly by Biden himself in the first vice presidential debate on October 3. To outdo Palin’s passionate answer to a question about Israel, where she asserted that a McCain-Palin administration "will never allow a second Holocaust," Biden cut to the chase: "… no one in the United States Senate has been a better friend to Israel than Joe Biden. I would have never, ever joined this ticket were I not absolutely sure Barack Obama shared my passion." "

Fuck you and your Limbaugh comment. I rejected him before you got on the clue bus.

I can't help it that your discussion mirrors what he says. I'm merely using a descriptive adjective to stimulate rational intelligent discussion.

As far as "domestic socialism" is concerned, the focus of my comments is limited to the failure of the economic system which was not caused by Freddie and Fannie as you insist it is.

As far as "domestic socialism" is concerned, it has its pros and cons, especially considering free market capitalism is non exisitent and some form of societal cohesiveness in the form of financial aid to the underprivileged is warranted. How the government may or may not be involved is a political debate beyond the scope of this forum. In addition, that's not what's causing the economic upheaval. It's a symptom.

The "fuck you" is unwarranted and unseemly. I'd like to see that frustation directed to the perpetrators of this mess, which is certainly not me.

When the rich man fails to show up …..

Subject: Socialism

An interesting spin on our tax system

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.' Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued t o drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

'I only got a dollar out of the $20,'declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'

'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I got'. 'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'

'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The pe ople who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Ah yes Sir Lod, but now we have the REST OF THE STORY....

When the rich man went broke the next day, he demanded and received compensation from the "capitalist" government. They in turned informed the other nine that the lost beer money would be returned to the rich man at their expense.

Thus the rich man DRANK FREE. The debt is now on all ten.

Lod..

Now that socialism has been unmasked as capitalism at its best, it would seem that more people would understand that...government is owned by capitalists...government hands out freebies to keep the unwashed happy...and everyone is happy.

This bailout proved that ALWAYS wealth defies gravity and flows upwards. this SOCIALIST WELFARE FRAUD received the grand total of $300 bucks...pure socialism.

And the $700 billion went in which direction?????

Those who didn't work hard and sacrifice want to steal what others worked hard and sacrificed for. They're nothing more than thieves.

I'm not going to give it to them.

No disagreement there.

Someone once observed that if all the money in the world was collected and equally distributed to all the people, in a short period of time, the rich would be rich again, and the poor would be poor again.

I've observed nothing in my old life to refute that theory.

True but Lod did not tell us that "socialism" was the offspring of capitalism, and that now the two are one and the same.

I think that is hilarious, hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe.

(I see Lod pulling his hair out and calling me names)

Some things take time to sink in. We're all working through the rhetoric v reality bubble. Too many filters. It's a false choice not always broken into a black or white decision, without understanding the consequences. The labels themselves have different definitions for different classes. Which is where class warfare is used to derive the most benefit for the few.

Good point. We're shooting for the morale of ths story, so it still works.

I remember reading an adage similar to that regarding Africans and a time-span of twenty years, which is probably close to the truth, but as a general rule I doubt the veracity of your claim. I guess it depends on the definitions of rich and poor. By global standards both of us are rich, but I've learned that it takes nothing for the super-rich to swoop down and heist whatever they want, no questions asked. OK, we might question them, but never face to face and never with any consequence.

That is very true...

Capitalists fully understand that the majority of people have little or no desire to rule the world, create huge banks or found a major industry. Most of us are just common run of the mill people, that are content to eat regularly and have a roof over our heads. That is the sweet life of ignorance that we live.

However, we at the bottom have NEVER taken this country to war, never maimed and slaughtered people by the millions. We have never brought financial crashes, destitution and poverty, you never see our name on any bill or law, we are nobody, and perfectly willing to remain that way, if the elite would just leave us the hell alone.
