Obama to Declare Carbon Dioxide Dangerous Pollutant If Elected By Jim Efstathiou Jr. Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama will classify carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant that can be regulated should he win the presidential election on Nov. 4, opening the way for new rules on greenhouse gas emissions. The Democratic senator from Illinois will tell the Environmental Protection Agency that it may use the 1990 Clean Air Act to set emissions limits on power plants and manufacturers, his energy adviser, Jason Grumet, said in an interview. President George W. Bush declined to curb CO2 emissions under the law even after the Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that the government may do so. If elected, Obama would be the first president to group emissions blamed for global warming into a category of pollutants that includes lead and carbon monoxide. Obama's rival in the presidential race, Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, has not said how he would treat CO2 under the act. Obama ``would initiate those rulemakings,'' Grumet said in an Oct. 6 interview in Boston. ``He's not going to insert political judgments to interrupt the recommendations of the scientific efforts.'' Placing heat-trapping pollutants in the same category as ozone may lead to caps on power-plant emissions and force utilities to use the most expensive systems to curb pollution. The move may halt construction plans on as many as half of the 130 proposed new U.S. coal plants.

Regardless of which JIZ's puppet is selected, they're going to use this carbon tax bullshit as a hammer to pound the middle class down. It's got nothing to do with climate change, it's about theft & force.
You seem to ignore the Al Gore, junk science nonsense behind this attack on business and the working class via a new level of taxation. Is your knee jerk response an attempt to argue, or can you offer proof to support this Obama initiative?
Well I agree that most of what comes out of Obama's mouth is a dangerous pollutant, CO2 is not only not a dangerous pollutant it is absolutely necessary for plants and trees to live! The screwy green environmentalists are now endorsing the killing of more trees unknowingly!

Attack on businesses? I don't want to live like China. I agree that emissions from coal plants should be regulated. I f that's what you term an attack, too bad. We have the smarts and the technology to make these plants less polluting. Do it. Working class taxation? This article says no such thing.
If it were a crime to be stupid, Obama would be looking at the death penalty. If brains were gasoline he wouldn't have enough to power a pissant's go-cart for a half a lap around a cheerio.

Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end. They have been doing it for years and are continuing. American Electric Power (AEP) has announced that due to the UN-mandated carbon taxes that they're going to have to raise rates 115%. I'm an AEP customer.
UN Mandated. Ok, what about this article indicates taxes? Certainly limiting emissions limits taxes. Then limit them. Look at China. I don't want to live like that, do you?

I don't either -- they're an externality. I disagree about the estimate of the harm. The air in the United States is not about to thicken into a Chinese miasma, even with 130 more coal plants.

There isn't and an excess of Co2 is harmful and this proposal is quite appropriate. The air in the U.S. is a lot cleaner than it was in the past. When's the last time any one complained about L.A. smog? We need more technology, not less, to reduce pollution.
