WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Retired U.S. Gen. Colin Powell, a former secretary of state in the Bush administration, on Sunday endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. In an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press," Powell backed Obama over fellow Republican John McCain, calling the Democratic nominee a "transformational figure" who could be an "exceptional president." Powell said he plans to vote for Obama in the November 4 election but does not intend to campaign for the Illinois senator as Obama and McCain enter the final weeks of their battle for the White House. Powell, who served in the military and government for 40 years, said he is not looking for a job in an Obama administration. However, he said, "I've always said if a president asks you to do something, you have to consider it." McCain, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," said Powell's support of Obama did not come as a surprise and said four other secretaries of state had endorsed him. In picking Obama over McCain, Powell said either "man would be a good president." Powell praised Obama's "depth of knowledge" and "steadiness," while he was critical of what he described as McCain's uncertainty over how to deal with economic crisis. Powell also voiced concern about McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate. "She is a very distinguished woman and she is to be admired," Powell said. "But ... I don't believe she is ready to be president of the United States."

the big problem is, once hormuz is closed, that 15 million barrels a day wont be going on the market, and god only knows what will happen to the price of oil. it could be that a black president would make a good scapegoat... or it could be that obama would have enough balls to resist efforts to attack iran... and it could be that, once the attack takes place, the price of oil goes through the roof and lynch mobs start forming in america, he'd have balls enough to start calling spades spades... an admitted long shot, given the power of the israel lobby. on the other hand, it's probably not possible to overestimate likud paranoia. but israel has to close hormuz, preferably by suckering america into doing it... israelis have convinced themselves that they have a 4000-year history in palestine, so they may be looking way down the line, way after the oil runs out, and they have to secure israel before the oil runs out... and they'd just as soon be the oil hub of the middle east as the oil is running out. not to mention the fact that if global warming turns out to be the real deal, israelis will need the palestinians' high ground in the west bank... maybe not this century, but again, these people have convinced themselves that they own that land... not to mention, if they continue on with this ashkenazi supremacism shit, and continue to work the way they have historically, they will need a permanent refuge of last resort.

here's what i think is happening... i think most sensible people in the world decided, somewhere along the line, that america had to be destroyed because it's been too successful in promoting a very wasteful way of life. now that peak oil is probably here, now that the co2 concentrations have risen to the point that massive arctic thawing may arrive soon ---with the methane releases that will really screw things up--- the situation has come to a head. these people must have decided that telling people the truth was politically impossible, especially in view of the israel problem, the holyhoax, israeli control of american media and politics, and the need to secure israel before everything goes to hell in a handbasket. it's hard to say how far up the ladder the 9/11 operation went, but 9/11 and the "war on terror" are sure to result in the destruction of america, seeing as how the only chance we would have had would have been to muster our resources to convert to alternate sources of energy. we are now wasting those resources in an attempt to secure israel and control oil. . well, that's just how it goes... and maybe the wise men decided there was no other way to do it. i would much rather have been told the truth, back in 1970 when american oil production peaked.

There was a lot of info and data regarding China's energy needs in the foreseeable future. While I can't say with a really accurate degree of accuracy, it seems as though it was reported back then by 2025, China could use half the worlds oil and/or natural gas--the figure could have been higher, I just can't recall. I'd have to dig thru piles of hard copy to try to find the figures...perhaps DOE still has the data.

I believe a chopper pilot threatened machine gunning the US GI's to stop the massacre. Hearts and minds - that's the way. And even today you can easily find vets who whole heartedly support the massacre, and even more. As a race, we do not easily learn - even from failure and humiliation.

Two years later, Barack Sr. left Ann and the baby when he was accepted to Harvard. While he claims the marriage was broken up by racism, it actually dissolved when Ann discovered the inconvenient little fact that he already had another wife. Barack Sr. returned to Kenya where he fathered two more children by Kezia, then married American-born teacher Ruth. (He met her at Harvard while still legally married to his first two wives.)

Tragically, his alcoholism caused him to lose both his legs during a drunk driving accident. But he still managed to sire another son--his eighth, if you've lost count--by another woman, whom he planned to marry. However, he never had a chance to walk down the aisle again, because he died in another drunken crash when Obama was 21.
