Mcchordf86reduce_2 At the height of the Cold War -- and hysteria about alien invasions -- two U.S. fighter planes were "scrambled and ordered to shoot down a UFO over the English countryside," Reuters reports. The incident is one of thousands of UFO-related files, declassified and released by the British government today.
In one document, F-86 pilot Milton Torres describes his encounter with a huge, erratically-moving object in May, 1957.
"The order came to fire a salvo of rockets at the UFO. The authentication was valid and I selected 24 rockets.
...At the last moment, the object disappeared from the radar screen and the high-speed chase was called off.
He returned to base and was debriefed the next day by an unnamed man who "looked like a well-dressed IBM salesman."
"He threatened me with a national security breach if I breathed a word about it to anyone," he said.
The U.K. National Archives' 1500-page document dump undoubtedly includes other UFO doozies. Drop us a line if you find some good ones, or tell us about 'em, in the comments.

Jethro... I have no problem with the content, just the chain of command. After 25 years military/FAA I know what I SAW, I know what others saw and I believe.
There are multiple reports of this kind of stuff dating all the way back to WWII. Project Blue Book should have been called Project Whitewash. I don't post a lot on the subject as the kooks try to downplay it, and accuse everyone else who looks at the evidence of being kooks, as they prefer to think what they're told to think - it doesn't require thought that makes their heads hurt. My conclusion, based on the available evidence and sightings over the years, is that there is some there, there. You can even find paintings from the Renaissance with flying objects in them. The conclusion I've reached, based on the available evidence, is that we are, and have been for a long time, under observation by one or more advanced societies who are technologically well in advance of our current capabilities.

Nine out of ten of these can be blown out of the water, but others like this strike me as valid. Growing up in the late 50s has left me with an interest in this stuff.

Very interesting. The data in inconclusive - it could have been a pack of Almas (given the force required to cause the injuries), or something else. Nevertheless it is intriguing.

Actually, have you ever read the original "Report on Unidentified Flying Objects" written by the commander of Project Blue Book, Captain Edward Ruppelt? You might be quite surprised by the amount and type of information you'd find in it. I've used it to track down seemingly unbelievable events that occured back in the 50's, and sure enough if you look through a micro-fiche library those stories DID make the headlines back then. That's if the micro-fiche isn't missing for those key dates, which did happen to me on at least one occasion. A later "expanded version" of the book simply recants some of the original material, echoing the Air Force's official policy on the topic. But the facts are there, and can't be denied.
The declassified files contain testimony from the leader of a group of adventurers who camped about 50 kilometers south of the skiers on the same night. He said his group saw strange orange spheres floating in the night sky in the direction of Kholat-Syakhl. That coincides with a fictionalized account of activities related to the Roswell incident in a book written by Whitley Strieber called "Majestic". From what I've read, those "orange spheres" come down like a falling leaf. If you ever see such a thing nearby, RUN. Hopefully you'd find a safer place to hide than what these poor people did. I REALLY would not have wanted to be on that mountain that night. It gives me the creeps just thinking about what might have happened to them. There was a movie not too long ago that involved another UFO related incident that is based on the Phoenix Lights. The name of the movie is Night Skies, it seems like it might give a clue as to what these poor folks might have gone through.

I'm certain I've heard his story. In addition to being the author of many books related to alien abduction, he is himself an abductee. In fact, there is a movie called Communion that describes his experiences. Christopher Walken plays the character of Whitley Strieber. His book Majestic is different than his other books that follow his own experiences however. It is a virtual history of the clandestine government operations related to UFO activity, but presented in a fictional setting. If you compare actual historical events with what's presented in the book though, it's all possible, and could well be closer to the truth than many would want to believe.
BTW, out of all of the types of craft seen by various witnesses over the decades, the "orange spheres" are the most malevolent. Whatever race of being controls them are not good by any stretch of the imagination.
I'd tend to lean towards the "something else". There was radiation on their clothing, their skin was dark orange, and their hair had all turned grey. That's besides the orange spheres that were seen that night, AND the fact that there weren't any external injuries, but severe internal ones. Whatever they saw, they cut their tent open and ran like hell, without taking the time to put on clothes or shoes in -30°C (-22°F) weather. Oh, and one of the women was missing her tongue.

I've curtailed my camping expeditions into the desolate wilderness for several reasons, things like that being one of them... I doubt a Glock would help much in such a situation; in fact it might very well make matters worse.
That just gave me the willies. I hate to imagine the shock, horror, fear and pain of what happened to them. If they ran into sub zero mountain conditions barefoot and without their essential survival gear (which would still be only marginal at night unless they buried themselves in snow caves) after collecting radiation sunburns and bone crushing injuries, my guess is that a great, big lizard critter suddenly materialized inside the tent intending to harvest organs (or a tongue) and, gee, what would I do if Draco was struggling with one expedition member and my tent cutting knife was handy? I'd prolly slash the tent and make a run for it in deep snow, too. Bare fear is what made folks jump from the WTC to certain deaths when the flames gave them no other choice. It is the absence of reason. If a 7 ft tall lizardy thingy suddenly materialized I wouldn't feel very brave unless he was attacking my woman/sleeping bag partner. I'd rather take an alien bullet than be cold and alone, crying icicles into my ears! :)

When polar bears started sniffing around his tent one night he fired the rifle through the tent wall, and the next morning there was a little blood but the bears were gone. I damn sure wouldn't camp in the snowy wilderness without an African caliber rifle, and without three buddies with rifles chambered in African calibers! "Okay fellas, .338 WIN MAG is the minimum caliber allowed on this trip! .460 WEATHERBYS ARE EVEN BETTER!") A Glock is what you use on yourself to keep the Injuns from scalping you alive.
From what I've heard, these little critters have a way of getting inside your head through telepathy, so any physical weapon is going to be next to worthless. As far as what sort of physical weapons they might actually have, I shudder to think what sort of weapon could cause an energy pulse to crush someone's internal organs yet leave the exterior skin undamaged.
We could be in a situation analagous to some of the more isolated areas of the world as they gradually came into contact with European explorers, traders and then settlers. Imagine an island off the coast of the Phillipines, seeing white men, guns, telescopes, mirrors etc for the first time. They'd be hard pressed to distinguish between the Portugese, Spaniards, Dutch, French, and the English. And would not realize that the aims of each nation above would be slightly different. Some aliens are observing, some may be "protecting", some may consider us the same way Spanish conquistadors considered gold, some may simply not care and use us for fun and games.....

Your welcome, Fred. I read that some time back and Tom007s article brought it back to mind. What happened is beyond my comprehension, but I tend to lean toward the 'not of this earth' explanation.
I think that pretty much somes it up, except you left out "experimentation" such as what we do to chimps, mice, and other such creatures.
Here's another story that is high on the creep out factor; An Eskimo Village that Vanished And here's even more food for thought; Right, I guess I wandered off topic. The rifle prolly ain't much good against off planet hostiles (OPH?) and I was just chatting about wilderness gear in general..... I look at the pics of those pretty gals and I feel sad. Women who are tuff enuff to sign on for these excursions are really great. And, the very thought of them meeting some horrible end where it was a tossup which would take their lives-the fear of encountering some unthinkable menace or the awful fate of exposure to extreme conditions. How simply G_D awful, and I feel terrible for their families. I don't want to think about how I'd suffer knowing my friends and loved ones met such a nightmarish fate.
I can guess what became of those poor souls. Some asshole ETs used them for experiments....
