I own one piece of digital camo. I didn't buy it for its usefulness as camo, but for its warmth and good price. It's more of a work jacket.

I don't know that I would ever own a piece of digital camo for camo purposes and here's why:

A square is a shape that rarely if ever occurs in nature.

Say I wanted a better way to spot my enemies in the woods and I had an unlimited budget, and I know that as I go with camo, much of the world will follow, I would design a pattern that is very effective for my troops, but that can also be electronically recognized from a mile away, by my own troops, using equipment designed to find squares where none should be.

If the technology didn't precede the design of the camo, I am certain it will eventually follow it.

Sounds plausible based on the available evidence and known technology. If you wanted to set up potential militias and resistance groups it would be a great coup to outfit them with camo that is but isn't.

My sentiments exactly. I am going to stick with the old fashioned stuff. :)

Digital camo is useful when hiding from electronic surveillance.

Not so useful for hiding from eyes, but keep in mind - black is a color that doesn't really exist in a forest except at night.

Maybe so, but maybe not so with digital surveillance.

That would be hard to keep secret, as the enemy could program similar equipment to ferret out the same pattern. They have friend/foe recognition technology now that is pretty good and can easily be varied to prevent security of friend/foe recognition placement of infrared sensors and to do things to ID friendlies to keep them fro being the fodder of air strikes or from being fired up by friendlies on the ground.

Just remember: A single EMP can ruin a camera's day.

If your militia has an EMP device, I don't think you need to be farting around with camo

Hmmm, makes sense. I've gotten away from MossyOak/Realtree and go with Natural Gear cammo now:

Natural Gear cammo

That looks pretty good. I may have to pick up one of those 3D sets.
