People that are losing their jobs, homes, hope, etc. could care less about many of the subjects that we discuss here - they're just trying to stay alive in this wonderful economy.

Why would any nation desire to test his mettle when international unification is the reason for his existence?

Most have no problem voting for people of different colors, religions, or other various ethnic backgrounds. The same *isn't true* of black Americans, Hispanic Americans or Asian Americans, etc. These groups tend to always choose a candidate from their own ethnic background.
