I'm going to a lodge meeting in a couple of weeks to see what it's all about. Is it a good way to network in my community?

The intro to Masonry was the Demolays. My lodge was nothing but faggots in high school. I quit. My dad was a 33rd degree mason...sadly, he felt it did not conflict with Christianity. He was wrong.

My church, the LCMS does not believe in secret societies, nor does the Bible.

I've studied religion informally for 20 years and have never heard of LCMS.

You need to have at least a million members before you advance from "cult" to "church" status, IMHO.

And FYI, the Christians were a secret society when they first started out. Remember the fish symbol that they'd mark so that the "enlightened" would know where to meet?

As for you early Christian argument, I won't dignify it with a response. If you can not see the difference between a secret meeting and keeping the information secret, you're even more ignorant than I thought.

OK, that makes sense. I actually used to work for the ELCA (as a temp). So you got me on that one.

There are really very few things in Masonry that are secret, and all of them can be seen by watching the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree rituals on Youtube. [Note to X-15: It's more fun to go through if you haven't seen the rituals beforehand].

You'll notice that there's a whole lot of Bible kissing going on, and a lot of references to "God" and "The Holy Saint John". Even though nobody cares if you're a Hindu, a Jew, a Moslem, or Miscellaneous.
