Palin Favors "path to citizenship" for Illegal Immigrants

Gov. Sarah Palin's view on Immigration appears to mirror that of Sen. John McCain. In an interview yesterday, she says she supports a "path to citizenship" for "undocumented" (i.e. illegal) immigrants:

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?

I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Poster Comment:

America is sooooooo screwed. Out of all the one party candidates--that would be McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden--there isn't one of them who wouldn't welcome every illegal alien who is already here and all the rest who want to come. The country is doomed.

Fact is there are already enough non-whites here to doom it. About 1/2 of kids under the age of 5 ain't white.

Political rhetoric. Otherwise known as BS. You hear it all the time: "I don't favor amnesty, I favor a path to citizenship" from McPalin, or "I'm not pro- (partial birth) abortion, I'm pro-choice" from Obama .

But not to worry, Palin's drooling fanboys will think she's great no matter what she says or does.

I don't care what color anyone is but I do care that the politicians, at least enough of them to get it done, want to see America overrun with people who care nothing about America and who know nothing about America; who never want to be Americans and whose culture is so different that many of them think raping a 12 year old is a marriage proposal. There was one (an illegal) in the county I live in who tried to kidnap a little girl out of her own yard. Fortunately the little girl screamed and her uncle went to the guys house and sorted him out a bit before the cops got there.

More like 40 million, at least. Figure Kalifornia getting 1 million a year, extend that to at least another 5 million over the rest of the U.S. and multiply that by 8+ years for a number nobody will face. The biggest lie of all is the stable "12 or 13 million" that has been thrown in our face for the last 8 years.

I knew she was a fraud, and said so from the get go.

McCain needed a fraud as a prop. Palin was a very wise pick as a prop for the neocons. She may have won over a few Hillary supporters who just wanted ANY woman in or near the White House. She says a few things that sound nebulously "libertarian," and her folksy style (keeping policy talk at an elementary school level) appeals to as many or more people as it turns off.

But when Palin's pressed on policy, she's just another tool of the neoconservatives. I knew that Palin was a lost cause when she started talking about Iraq's role in 9/11 (something even Bush isn't stupid enough to say anymore) and other neocon talking points from 5 years ago.

What amazes me is that there are people here who want McCain to be elected and to die shortly after taking office so that she could be President. As ignorant as she is, she'll be an even easier mark for the neoconservatives. Plus her general ditziness makes her more of an embarassment to this country than McCain is. I never thought I'd say this, but if Mad Mac is elected, I wish him perfect health for the next 4 years.

Sarah, what the hell happened between us? I thought we had a good thing going: I vote for you and you remain hot without stepping in it. But, now, you have delivered the most unkindest cut of all. You stabbed me in the back after all we've been through, after I stuck up for you when my friends said we weren't right for each other. This is a deal-breaker for me, there is no way we can have a future together. I'm saying goodbye and I hope you find the voter that will make you happy.

Exactly. I can understand the Mad Mac voters here in this respect; both the Rs and Ds will have a mirror image foreign policy. As long as Israel & oil are in the equation, our State department will dictate policy. AFA domestic policy, there is a slight difference re; guns, taxes, the fairness doctrine, and other forms of affirmative action giveaways. If you like what the various collegiate Black Unions and gay rights groups do to campus life, you'll love what's coming our way w/the Dark Overlord. That isn't to say Mad Mac won't also bring that to us, but it will just come at a slowed pace. Anyway.....that's my take and I'm sticking to it :P

One of Ronald Reagan's biggest faults was that he supported his own form of amnesty for illegal aliens. When pressed about it by conservatives, he said something like "What's all the fuss about Mexicans coming over here illegally?"

Why do so many tough-talking conservatives turn into sappy liberals on the immigration issue? It must be because their corporate masters love that undocumented two buck an hour labor. The last time a mainstream politician did anything decent on the immigration issue was Eisenhower with "Operation Wetback."

One of Reagan's nicknames when he was the gov. of CA was "Ronald Region" given to him by opponents of regional government. He was for it. Regional government replaces elected officials w/appointed bureaucrats and blurs the lines bet. counties, thus making taxes and such "more equitable." My political mentor removed my rose colored RR glasses with that fact.

When Obummer first hit the scene, he sold himself as the anti-war alternative to Hillary Clinton. Since people didn't know much else about him, he seemed like a good "lesser evil" choice among the Democrats.

It wasn't until he became the nominee that he changed his song, making it clear to AIPAC and the DNC that all that anti-war talk was just rhetoric to win over disaffected voters. Now he's barely distinguishable from McCain as he promises to defend Israel from Iran and send troops into Pakistan.

And McCain was also a pretty slick package - a "maverick" fiscal conservative who fights pork and earmarks. And what does he do? He signs onto the Bush/Barney Frank/Pelosi bailout, and goes around the Senate convincing his skeptical colleagues to sign on. How does he do it? You guessed it - by promising to add on their favorite earmarks to the bill!

But the image of "Anti-War Obama" and "Maverick McCain" still sticks in a lot of dull, stubborn minds.

New Mexico is a swing state, with reliable polls too close to call. Mad Mac and Caribou Barbie know that conservative voters have "nowhere else to go," so they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by pandering to the Mexican vote in NM.

McCain winning the Mexican vote isn't so far-fetched. He has a good track record of favoring open borders (which he toned down to win conservative votes in the primaries - now he doesn't have to because they'll be voting "the lesser evil"), and many Mexicans detest blacks more than they dislike white gringos.
