Title: Pentagon Panel: Biden Was Right, Prep for 'Crisis'

The McCain campaign pounced the other day, when Joe Biden said that his running mate would be tested by an international crisis at the start of his White House tenure. But the chairman of a key Pentagon advisory panel is sounding a similar warning, telling the next administration to "prepare for a likely first-270-days crisis."

Veteran Pentagon consultant Michael Bayer, chairman of the Defense Business Board, told his fellow panelists that the new president's inner circle should "set aside time in transition to identify the planning, gravitas and interagency process necessary to respond to a likely first-270-day crisis."

From Kennedy (Bay of Pigs) to Johnson (Gulf of Tonkin) to Bush (9/11)," too many presidents were ill prepared for this," Bayer warns.

"For months, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the service chiefs and the Joint Staff have been preparing for the first wartime transfer of Pentagon political authority in four decades," notes Inside Defense, which broke word of Bayer's presentation. "In addition to identifying defense policy issues for an incoming to understand, the military is also on high operational alert."

A key goal for the next administration, according to Bayer, must be to fill civilian posts requiring Senate confirmation as soon as possible.

The incoming administration “must not wait until June” to get assistant secretaries confirmed and October for deputy assistant secretaries to be Senate confirmed, his briefing states.

“Need a very concerted, well-defined process to have top 3 tiers ready to go to Senate confirmation in first 30 days,” Bayer recommends.

It's right up there with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's campaign promises to defund the Iraqi occupation. Good campaign fodder for pissed off anti-war types, but then they get cold feet as soon as neocons and Congressional Republicans start calling them "unpatriotic."

These desk-jockey-war-planing-public-trough-feeding pigs are getting too eager and brazen. Obama's followers are an "unusual"generation of yute, neither compliant or respectful of authority. What a shock it will be to The Pentagon when they call for conscripting Dewey and Daisy from the barrios and the ghetto and suburbia and the former 2 groups dig their heels in and pull out their "equipment" and say "make me." Indeed, we live in interesting times. The empty suits in DC are in for a surprise.

Don't be ridiculous. Are you trying to make excuses for the Dems? The likes of Harry and Nancy and Rahm and Chuckie Cheesecake and Biden are full-bore Israel-Firsters. They'd never defund the Iraq War. And in fact they were the most vocal of using a military option with Iran. It was W who waffled due to the influence of Gates and Rice. But the Dem leadership was all for opening a new war front.

National Globalist Warfare - Welfare Party bump

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

Both parties have to keep up a facade of false opposition, to make it look like a vote for Dem or Repub is a "choice." So Democrats will make empty criticisms of a war that under the watch of a GOP President, and then not do anything to stop it. The same goes for GOP "criticism" of a Democratic President's foreign policy.

Prep for 'Crisis'

Yes, Biden says a crisis coming up shortly for President Obama and that President Obama may have to make some "unpopular" choices.

Color me cynical: I read that as Israel does a terrorist attack on America and we attack Iran or somewhere nearby.

If Obama doesn't go along, a lone white sumpremacist fruitcake will go after Obama.

Dang, color me cynical again: the lone white sumpremacist fruitcake will be a Mosaad hit team.

Notice the federal media is already preping us and Obama with the skinhead conspiracy plots.

Obama, however and in my opinion, is a Zio puppet so he'll be safe. And we'll be in Iran.

I remain hopeful that Putin has behind the scenes told Amerisrael not to do Iran.

Time shall tell.

I think China and Japan are more effective anti-war advocates since they own our gov't's debt and right now with the stock market crash and real estate melt down and recession, those 2 nations are looking at owning a lot of useless paper IOU's best suited for out-house use. Regardless of the huffing and puffing of the Zios, the US gov't can't afford to open a new war front. End of story. The Israelis need to look for a new and richer surrogate to do their wars for them. China and Japan have DC on a very tight leash these days.

IMO.

There's no need for Putin to warn us, the Iranians have essentially checkmated us.

How?

An extensive array of new generation Chinese and possibly Russian missiles like the Silkworm and Sunburn on the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf. Despite superior American defensive technology like the Aegis, and possibly that new MetalStorm system, the numbers of Iranian missiles may well overwhelm USN defenses, while still being able to target tankers as they see fit.

Second, that old standby the V2, modified as the SCUD, targeted at RasTanura, one of the biggest refining and shipping complexes in Saudi Arabia. Ditto with the other Gulf Kingdoms.

Third, the ability to cut off the Straits of Hormuz via mines, sinking a tanker or two.

This doesn't even start to get into Hizbollah's worldwide ability to wreak havoc.

There is no military option against Iran unless we want 10-20 dollar a gallon gas, and possible retaliation by Saudi against the Iranians with their missiles which may well have Pakistani nukes on them.

Makes me wonder who Iran/Hizbollah is really working for ?

...gravitas...

Gee, thanks. I was hoping to never see or hear that word ever again. I guess I still hold on to the hope of never hearing the word "macarena" again.

Now I cant get that damn song out of my head. Thanks.

""For months, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the service chiefs and the Joint Staff have been preparing for the first wartime transfer of Pentagon political authority in four decades," "

I wonder what that means.

Pentagram political authority??? That does not sound good.
