Does this mean your smilies are gone? Do you want to use mine? I can give you access.

I don't have a clue what happened. The site I use must have stopped remote linking.

I'll see what's in my backup file. Thanks! ;-)

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802

Or something quite similar. I mean, I really can't even believe you just posted that.

They have a double standard. If you are a NeoCon or conservative, you have an open season to say whatever you wish, regardless how bombastic or threatening it is.

But if you go counter the official line of the approved clique, they get teething pains and need to be burped.

You are free to ignore impolite remarks. In fact as a new poster with not much of a positive contribution posting history - with an aim of creating good first impressions and putting your best foot forward and all - I think it would have been a prudent thing to do. Oh balderdash, Mike. Give me a break. When has christine ever moderated in a heavy handed manner that would suggest that she has encouraged a double-standard for posts by conservatives and neocons vs liberals or is there any evidence whatsoever that christine supports or condones an insider clique-ish discussion board environment with newbies or minority position posters being treated as second class members?

You're really going off the deep end here. And you are making patently false allegations.

Actually, you are wrong. When an apocalyptic group expected the end of the world, some of them went home to die at the end of the world with family, and others stayed together to die with their cult mates.

Those who stayed together reacted to the end of the world not happening by rationalizing and figuring out if mist happen later, and that their belief system was sound, but they had gotten the day wrong.

Those who went home were helped to see they were deluded and most of them recovered from having belonged to this group which is still in existence.

Here in forum, you have everyone rationalizing the impossible and not diverging from the most common thread of thought here. Everyone helps everyone else here shield their little piece of the communal house of cards against the winds of reality's wrath.

Sometimes as in the topic of 9-11 as an inside job, that's a strength, but with the lies regarding Obama, it is an Achilles heel waiting for an arrow to hit it.

Anyone else with different belief systems are attacked persistently in an ugly manner by some. They are shunned by others, and there is no real substantial community made with them.

I can be stubborn, nasty and I have no social hungers that effect me when some shun. I have learned to notch up to return fire for fire sent my way, and to be just as stubborn and stoic as I need to be to post.

Nothing but a ban will get rid of me, especially when effort is made to bad vibe me away.

I know that all these little Swift Boat games are going to decisively crumble, and I am going to rub people's faces in that. And that is just one subtask I look forward to.

And I will enjoy every second of it.

i don't think you have offended, salemguy. you're correct that everyone here has strong opinions, but obviously some are more vitriolic in their expression of them than others.

i understand that emotions are highly charged at election time with this one moreso than ever. for that reason, i'm allowing them to cyber-duke it out.

a. Anyone else with different belief systems are attacked persistently in an ugly manner by some. They are shunned by others, and there is no real substantial community made with them.

b. Nothing but a ban will get rid of me, especially when effort is made to bad vibe me away.

a. You're getting melodramatic. I know you have probably suffered hurt feelings from some of the posts but buck up and instead of attacking, why not present new information that supports your position. I took a minority conservative position some months ago on expanding SCHIPS and introducing universal healthcare, and though I was pummeled incessantly by a small group of posters, I stuck to my guns, presenting more articles of support for my position than they did for theirs and eventually I think I won over a few fence sitting people to my side of the debate. Everyone is rather emotional now because of the nearness of the election.

b. No one has ever expressed the desire - that I've read at least - to run you off the board or to ask for you to be banned. I recall christine the moderator of this board praising you for your articulate posts. And I personally have always valued your input and I would be one of your strongest supporters against anyone trying give cause for you to leave.

Hope you're not still scared, Lady X. The sky hasn't fallen, no one's been injured that I know of, sun rises, world turns....

I didn't take the insults personally, scrapper, don't worry about that. I was just wondering what positive contribution they made.

And now I understand my Bush-bashing was likely the problem. Well, to make you all feel better, I will be doing that until the day I die. His presidency has been an abomination. I only regret that he wasn't impeached and convicted. He deserved that. Don't speak his name to me unless you want your blood pressure to rise.

For the diehard neocons, out there, I'd offer up a couple web pokes for you to wallow in a while, starting with this short clip from the first:

Ken Duberstein endorsed McCain in 2000. They met in early 2007, McCain expected an endorsement, and this is Duberstein's recollection:

"I told John the right wing never wants to be satisfied; they're professional whiners," Duberstein remembers now. "They are never happy. So don't kill yourself trying. They will never trust you, no matter what you do for them."

Duberstein eventually endorsed Obama.

Whole article is very interesting, at http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1856613,00.html

Couple more, piling on here...

And finally, a comment about a recent guru:

For those neocons who can contain themselves long enough to read and learn from these short pieces, you'll perhaps gain an understanding of what us libruls are angry about.
