Title: Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness’

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the American dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.

"John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic," Obama continued. "You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness."

It's unclear if this was a nod to the Ayn Rand book "The Virtue of Selfishness," with all that the invocation of Rand implies.

It would seem to be, given the themes of Rand's work, what happens when independent achievers are demonized.

Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as "selfish."

Atlas may not be shrugging, but Obama is.

Poster Comment:

Obama and Biden make quite a pair - soul mates - Joe says successful hard working people should want to pay higher taxes out of patriotism. Obama says it's selfish for successful Americans not to want to pay higher taxes because higher taxes allows the under class and illegal aliens to realize their dreams of getting other people's $ by doing nuthin.'

LOL! I never thought we would get anything worse than Clinton but other than his unconstitutional forays into undeclared wars and Waco--either of which should have gotten him impeached--he was a better president than Bush. And I believe that no matter which one of the hand picked establishment puppets wins this election America will lose. It ALWAYS gets worse with every election and I see no reason to believe that this one is going to be any different and a lot of reasons to believe things will get worse.

And I believe that no matter which one of the hand picked establishment puppets wins this election America will lose.

While that sentiment is true enough, the question I have in my mind is this:

Are McCain and Obama equally awful candidates in terms of wreaking destruction to the Founding Father's vision for America? And are both candidates going to have immediate negative consequences on my life, on my assets, on my dreams for leaving a legacy to future scrapper generations?

I know alot about McCain based on his voting record and questions about his military service earning hero status and his dumping of wife #1 for the trophy wife and his IsraelFirst pronouncements etc, etc. But only recently - the past couple of months - have revelations surfaced about Obama's tax policies, his status about being "natural born", his close friendships with Ayers and his Marxist leanings in his college years and trips abroad to Pakistan and his policy advisors (all neoconlib), his courting the Jewish vote by genuflecting to Israel, his shrill calls for "volunteerism", his denigration of material success as selfishness unless it's given to government to re-distribute to others, etc etc.

It's not that McCain is a less self-serving candidate than Obama. It's that I am beginning to have a palatable fear in my heart that Obama is more dangerous to my nation's cultural and historic heritage and to my personal life. I think Obama's vision of change will set our nation on its ear.

Amen.

The half-breed won't do.

Go for the half-wit, and pray.

Short sweet and to the point, lodi, and good advice perhaps.

With McCain, what we see is what we'll get ie. a half-wit.

But America has survived a succession of half-wits in the Oval Office, most notably - tahdah - W.

But with Obama we'll get everything we see (which are only bits and pieces of revelations which are scary in themselves) and more - as in more than we bargained for or want. I think Obama is to the waaaay left of FDR and LBJ. Obama wants to remake America to conform to his Marxist vision of Utopia. I think Obama arrogantly views himself as the second coming of a Founding Father, to help birth "the New America."

To me, it's which is the less un-kown, and which is the potentially scarier prospect: and it's the Yobama here.

As you, correctly note, we've survived morons before, but I truly tire of it.

The magic machines will tell us who is the rulers choice for us...I'll go with Lindsey Williams' message, McKook.

I just want it to end.

I would have, but the only choices on our ballots here are R, D, and L.

Going for McKook, gridlock, insanity, perhaps a state funeral, and generally nothing getting done in deecee.

A chaos vote.
