Title: Obama's New Attack on Those Who Don't Want Higher Taxes: ‘Selfishness’

On the stump this week, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has pushed back against Sen. John McCain's description of his tax policies.

"The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich," Obama said in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday. "I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the American dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.

"The point is, though, that -- and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class -- it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.

"John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic," Obama continued. "You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness."

It's unclear if this was a nod to the Ayn Rand book "The Virtue of Selfishness," with all that the invocation of Rand implies.

It would seem to be, given the themes of Rand's work, what happens when independent achievers are demonized.

Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as "selfish."

Atlas may not be shrugging, but Obama is.

Poster Comment:

Obama and Biden make quite a pair - soul mates - Joe says successful hard working people should want to pay higher taxes out of patriotism. Obama says it's selfish for successful Americans not to want to pay higher taxes because higher taxes allows the under class and illegal aliens to realize their dreams of getting other people's $ by doing nuthin.'

LOL! I never thought we would get anything worse than Clinton but other than his unconstitutional forays into undeclared wars and Waco--either of which should have gotten him impeached--he was a better president than Bush. And I believe that no matter which one of the hand picked establishment puppets wins this election America will lose. It ALWAYS gets worse with every election and I see no reason to believe that this one is going to be any different and a lot of reasons to believe things will get worse.

And I believe that no matter which one of the hand picked establishment puppets wins this election America will lose.

While that sentiment is true enough, the question I have in my mind is this:

Are McCain and Obama equally awful candidates in terms of wreaking destruction to the Founding Father's vision for America? And are both candidates going to have immediate negative consequences on my life, on my assets, on my dreams for leaving a legacy to future scrapper generations?

I know alot about McCain based on his voting record and questions about his military service earning hero status and his dumping of wife #1 for the trophy wife and his IsraelFirst pronouncements etc, etc. But only recently - the past couple of months - have revelations surfaced about Obama's tax policies, his status about being "natural born", his close friendships with Ayers and his Marxist leanings in his college years and trips abroad to Pakistan and his policy advisors (all neoconlib), his courting the Jewish vote by genuflecting to Israel, his shrill calls for "volunteerism", his denigration of material success as selfishness unless it's given to government to re-distribute to others, etc etc.

It's not that McCain is a less self-serving candidate than Obama. It's that I am beginning to have a palatable fear in my heart that Obama is more dangerous to my nation's cultural and historic heritage and to my personal life. I think Obama's vision of change will set our nation on its ear.

What I know about them is that they are both self-serving pieces of $#it and neither deserve the vote of any American. I will not be voting for either of them but of course I don't tell other people who to vote for. I would (gladly) vote for Chuck Baldwin if he had made it on the ballot where I live but he didn't and they don't count write in votes. They have admitted that. I guess I will hold my nose and vote for Bob Barr even though I wanted Ron Paul before he dropped out (and would write him in if they counted it).

I've thought about what it would be like to be in the same predicament, with you in mind.

You know I'd never PRESUME to tell you how to vote, but has it crossed your mind, as it has mine strongly, that Barr is a NEOCON stalking horse much as we saw employed in spades against Ron Paul ?

Were I in your shoes, it's just me and not you at all, but I'd have to consider the least destructive socialist POS that was available or just not freakin' vote.

Don't mean to step on you and certainly don't give a shit about this charade, but just my .02.

Yeah, I have thought about that. I may not vote at all, haven't decided yet. I know I can't vote for Obama--if it were a question of being forced to pick one or the other of them I would pick McNutz over him. But I don't think either of them are worthy of the vote of any American and homey don't play dat tryin' to pick the lesser of two evils. I would rather not vote for any amount of it.

If forced at gun point to the head, I'd rather meet my Maker than vote for a Globalist Traitor. That's just me. You know I love you Brother.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I say "forced to" I mean if I was being tortured beyond human endurance. If all it meant was getting shot before voting for one worlders I would rather be shot. Homey don't play dat. And yeah, I know you love me bro and I love you too.
