Title: To lighten things up a bit: Fashion or fetish? Sexy sheer pantyhose for men.

IF women are worried that their previously exclusive fashion domain is being invaded by men in manscara and man-bras, there’s another cause for concern.

"Mantyhose" are pantyhose for men, the latest in a string of men's fashion trends straight from the bizarre files. And everyone from truck drivers to cowboys are wearing them.

Self-confessed male hosiery-wearer Harisnya is so passionate about the issue he set up e-MANcipate, a website aiming to "accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item".

Harisnya says the UK-based website is "as serious as fashion can be".

"It's fun, but no joke," he said, and is adamant that both males and females should be allowed to wear the sexy sheer garment.

"Men have great legs and hosiery is a great way to show them. It's quite practical in some ways. It prevents chafing, for example, when horse riding or cycling, but it's also a good alternative to bulky underwear if you need some warmth.

"Going to work on a cold autumn day in regular trousers with 20 denier hose underneath helps to avoid getting cold. Plus you won't ever have to worry about loosing or matching your socks," he joked.

The site even offers men a step-by-step guide on how to wear pantyhose without damaging it.

Specifically designed men's pantyhose comes with a "male comfort panel" that better fits a man's shape, and sometimes offers a convenient fly opening.

Harisyna’s love of pantyhose – which he insists is about fashion, rather than a fetish - is backed up by testimonials from truck drivers who swear by nylon hosiery for its circulation benefits and cowboys who don them under their Levi's for warmth.

"At the recommendation of my wife, I got several pairs of sheer knee-high support hose that I wear under pants, and I wear either light to medium support sheer beige pantyhose or thigh highs openly under shorts, and I've noticed a major improvement in how my legs look and feel," said Mike, a truck driver from Coralville.

"I fully intend to continue to openly wear hose both for the health benefits and for the look and feel of the soft, comfortable fabric, and encourage other men to have the courage to do the same," he added.

Harisnya believes pantyhose serves not only as a comfort and circulation-boosting garment, but also helps to "illustrate" a man's legs, a part of the body that can easily support fashionable wear.

"Not all men like to hide in grey uniformed clothes. It's an easy way to dress differently, pairing the colour or pattern of your pantyhose to the rest of your clothes just like you do with the colour or pattern of your tie.

"It's relatively easy, too, as hosiery goes easily with almost every kind of shorts and shoes."

At the forefront of e-MAN-cipate's campaign is the push for companies to produce pantyhose made specifically for men.

"Don't buy female pantyhose at all," urges the site. "Don't strengthen those companies who don't produce/sell male pantyhose. Buy male pantyhose. Do help with your purchasing power to those who are on your/our side."

What do you think? Have the boundaries between men's and women's fashion gone too far? Is it ok for men to be sporting pantyhose? Leave your comments below.

Exactly - this is some kind of Psychiatrist developed program not unlike the others that have been running over the years to create confused gender identification.

Although, Duck Hunters have been wearing them for years and years - keeps the legs warm in the Duck Blind.

I wore them while planting trees. Sometimes long johns were too much, and just Carhartt pants were too little.

As long as you don't scrape the hair off of your legs, and wear baggy enough to be comfortable pantyhose, they are useful.

As a bicyclist I have tights that are better, but they are too expensive, so the disposable as work gloves pantyhose are the best undergarment for chilly morning that turn into sunny, warm afternoon days.

I can understand wearing them under pants ... you don't wear them with shorts do ya ?

I can't believe how faggy this shit sounds (even though there probably is some utility value in cold climates.

Admit it Mike, you're a transexual cross-dressing freak that likes Obama !

Thanks for the pic, you need a shave !

Heh, right. No bud, sorry to disappoint you, but it is hard, brutal work, and only a small percentage of those who ever try to plant ever make the grade.

I always planted on the lead. That is where the faster planters were positioned on the line. My quality was always good with my trees planted deep, straight, and tight, with the green side up. ;-)

Only a very few would go out to do this job ever make the grade. It takes speed and a good eye to see several planting spots ahead of you as in good ground the wood goes out fast.

Usually in the ground we call "gravy," trees go out as many as 1000-1200 in a six to eight hour day. On some sandy east side ground planting pine with shovels they can go out even faster.

You have a foreman/reforestation contractor and an inspector behind you taking plots checking for spacing, looking for J-roots, loose trees, plucked roots, and a variety of other problems people planting as fast as they can can leave in the wake as the hill gets covered.

The weather out here on the hill can be strange too. It can be very cold in the morning, then get really warm and sunny, as usually out there you are above the valley fog.

It is one of the few Oregon jobs in which you can get a tan doing in the winter. You do what you can to be ready for a day that starts in the shade and frost early in the morning then gets hot enough to require dipping the roots and even using bag liners to keep the roots the right temperature.

Sorry you have no point of reference for what the job is, but no bub, swooshies don't last out there 'pecking slivers.' Though it has been vastly entertaining watching all kinds of people come out to try to do the work and keep up.

It is a job that is hard on the body, and murder on clothes. I usually carried two changes. I would get out of the sweat soaked clothes I could at lunch because after cooling down in sweat or rain soaked clothes, it is murder starting back up again in icy cold garments.

And I would have dry clothes for when we finished if possible.

This is why I liked Carhartts, they have doublers and are extremely tough pants. They also are looser then jeans allowing you to plant low to the ground as possible to minimize how bent over you get while planting.

I am actually the right height for the job and very muscular. I was really really muscular back then in the upper body, but as I now work out primarily on a bicycle, much of the muscle has moved into my legs and the upper body while strong has lightened up.

My resting pulse is 55, and I an age 54. Planting and fire fighting were excellent jobs to stay fit doing, and I actually miss it. I also could easily get back in the groove and do this again. Thought realistically, I would shift to the middle of the line unless I could get the tail position where you get lots of open ground and you can plant out lots of gravy ground straightening and cleaning up the line to make it easier for the crew to plant back on it's line.

Though I know that if I ever went back out on the hill, I would quickly be tired and sore as always, wondering why and how I could of ever been dumb enough to miss doing this. ;-)

I know. I enjoyed tree planting though, and I like talking about it, so it's all good.

I've lived in the Mountains (Rockies) and been called a Pecker-wood, but never planted a tree or wore panty hose.

Edit: Oh yeah, I owned a male stripper nite-club a few years ago ... and the male dancers wore spandex ... I thought that shit looked faggy too ... but what do I know ???
