Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called former aides of Sen. John McCain "jerks" for circulating unflattering stories about her since the Republican ticket lost its bid for the White House Tuesday. Sources close to John McCain say Sarah Palin was denied a chance to speak at McCain's concession address. The stories, which have been attributed to unnamed sources within the McCain campaign, include claims that Palin did not know Africa was a continent instead of a country, or which countries are part of the North American Free Trade Agreement, despite touting her familiarity with neighboring Canada. Speaking with CNN's Gary Tuchman after returning to Alaska, Palin speculated those stories may have originated with campaign staffers who helped her prepare for her debate with Democratic Vice President-elect Joe Biden. "Those were taken out of context and that's cruel," Palin said. "It's mean-spirited. It's immature. It's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news." One source involved in preparing Palin for interviews and the vice-presidential debate told CNN "she had not paid attention to a single policy debate that's gone on in this country for 10 years." Palin told Tuchman she remembers having conversations about NAFTA and Africa during her preparations, but that the stories about her "are not true." She said it was "cowardly" for staffers to make claims about her anonymously. "It's not fair and it's not right." A source close to Palin told CNN that she had prepared to deliver a concession speech Tuesday night, and expected to address the crowd at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona. Several sources told CNN that McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt told Palin no, in part because of built-up anger among some McCain aides who say Palin had become more interested in her own future than in McCain's election. "This is so unfortunate and, quite honestly, sickening," Palin aide Meghan Stapleton said Thursday in a written statement. "The accusations we are hearing and reading are not true, and since we deny all these anonymous allegations, there is nothing specific to which we will respond. She had already been zinged for a reporter asking her regarding a quote about her, when the sonofabitch took what was said completely out of context and was NOT about her but reporter did his best to make it to be! So I don't blame her for knocking these 'anonymous' sources..........dirty rotten bastards can't stand up and be a man or a woman and make such allegations! And that goes for either side of the aisle. And works real well for sleaze factors like the national inquirier or star or whatever other yellow rags are out there. "Here in Alaska that double standard isn't applied because these guys know that Alaskan women are pretty tough, on a par with the men in terms of being outdoors, working hard," she said. "They're commercial fishermen, they're pilots, they're working up on the North slopein the oil fields. You see equality in Alaska. I think that was a bit of as surprise on the national level."

Ditto on his reverend--I guarantee you they will try their damnest to make Billy Graham look like a racist for not meeting up with the big O, even though Graham is a democrat, and is at deaths' door. A stake should be driven through the heart of virtually every newspaper and every television network for how badly they've served the public which has assented to their having a special place and rules in our society.

I rather like the idea of who she's sleeping with. That old saying about 'lay down with dogs and get up with fleas'....her husband doesn't seem to have too many bad ideas if his belonging to the AIP is a hint. While Alaska is civilized, there is still a large degree of 'pioneering' spirit there--the do it yourself, take responsibility element. Its sounds like they're not afraid of work, and take chances, and like independence and freedom......perhaps he'll rub off on her if there are some that don't think she's so hot (the dog and flea story). Perhaps at some point it will come out that she took the chance at the vp slot in order to become known on the national stage, and not that she liked everything/anything about mccain. Yes..........and it is a possibility I've thought of from the get/go when I found out that Todd had been a member of the American Independent party, and initially the media had tried to paint her as a member. These two are not dumb people. And they come from a state where people have to be independent and take responsibility, and value these and freedom. Palin's 2 speeches and debate performance are 3 of the only things i listened to in entirety during this whole show. from all I noted I conclude that it's wishful thinking to believe she is not a neocon. this is the one who said iraq war is "God's plan". Not hard to condlude the word KOOK from there. also i noticed she relayed several times the notion that we should thank the troops 'for our freedoms'., which is more b.s., they certainly dont give us our freedoms and dont protect them either. so even if palin is well intentioned, which she may be, shes not on the right track. its irrelevant anyway because if someone was good and didnt go along, theyd be removed from power.

The Bible contains many stories of God using leaders of nations to work his purposes--usually punishments against the Israelites or the nation as a whole. He doesn't have to use just Christians to do His work. I also believe it would be impossible to find a leader with whom I could agree 100% of the time--unless, of course, that leader was me! So long as the anti- dem and anti-rep people continue to nit-pick to find just the perfect candidate for every issue, they'll be like the little kid with his nose up against the candy story window....on the outside looking in. Military, social security, health care, banking, environment, immigration, space exploration, trade agreements, abortion, gay marriage, 911 Truth Movement, USS Liberty Movement, cute, sexy, articulate, looks good in jeans....these are just a few things that people consider in a candidate...there surely are many more. Have you found one yet that agrees with you on every single issue? What is your cut off point? 90% agreement? 80%? What about 70%? Maybe even 65%? Would you go 60%? Where is your line in the sand?

Well, I've got a big old question........how many women in the world do you or any other man, or woman, for that matter, know that would be considered a DIVA by anyones' standards that is as outdoorsy, shoot, gut, and skin out a moose, or cut and clean fish type? How many divas does anyone know that can pick up a gun, let alone shoot it as well as a man? And if you consider some more of the whine--like they couldn't get her to listen to their indoctrination so she could be interviewed, and there are people eating that allegation up, why would they think she'd be a complaint anything else if in office....that gives credence to being an independent thinker/doer. As for the clothes allegation, she has gone on the record as saying she buys at a consignment shopt, or a 2nd hand shop up in Alaska........if this weren't so, that would be plastered all over, in headlines and on talking media, that it was checked out and she lied! Cripes, there's even bitching that she answered a hotel door for the apparent handlers as she got out of the shower and had a towel wrapped around her!!! AND if she hadn't answered the door, the rumor mill would be that she was too busy trying to 'beautify' herself, or was so petulant about why she only had this or that to wear. You nailed it dee. Sarah Palin is certainly no diva, that's for sure, per the list you gave. But the word "diva" will stick in voters' minds 4 or 8 years hence. It has a nice catchy put-down ring to it does it not. It's the exact opposite of what Sarah Palin is - and for all her warts, being a diva was not one of those warts. If anything Palin was an ordinary person who was outside the Beltway who did not shmooze at cocktail parties in DC or NYC. She was a person of the people who connected with the people. MSM and the movers and shakers within the RNC and DNC want Sarah Palin marginalized. That's the "who", imo. The "why" is something for us to ponder.

(I daresay most of the kids graduating today or just recently probably can't even find Alaska on a map!) Something like 54% of our population are women. When you stop to think of how the environuts have used the tactics of running to court to try to run the country, it should be a lesson that it is necessary to play the system with the rules that are there available for everyone, but just aren't used. In elections, there is a distinct advantage in name recognition--just look at how the sheeple went bonkers over a guy they'd never heard of EXCEPT the speech he had given some 3 years prior. Remember how the media just gushed and gushed and gushed, and anytime he was in the news, it was always with the mention of the keynote speech at the previous convention, so if you had sort of forgotten who he was, you were reminded! Thus far, I don't recall, other than Perot, candidates that didn't have national name recognition. Along with name recognition, there is the issue of gender, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Its my opinion that most men don't cotton to having a woman boss. Anyways, between her being one of us dissatisfied 80 million people, having a free and independent husband (and possibly those same feelings in her heart), and now national recognition, should there be a movement within the next several years to go third party, at least a large part of the problem in gaining a following is already taken care of. She's a feisty little fighter, not afraid to swing a punch, whereas someone like Ron Paul doesn't have that in his nature. Sarah isn't dumb. She has to know that running 3rd party WITHOUT a bunch of positives going ahead of you that it would be virtually impossible to win national office. I knew it back in 86 when I ran for a state office--my heart was independent, but there was no way that would happen because there was no groundwork laid many years beforehand.

Young freshmen, you as rising scholars are entering a stage in life when you begin to understand how the world works. But rather than let you wallow in four years of hard studying and personal misery to find the answer, I'll just tell you what causes problems like a dying economy, countries rotting in their own piss and bad things that happen to good people. It's all because of the neoconservatives.
Some people shy away from the neocon conspiracy theory because it is reminiscent of ancient anti-Semitic "Hymie rules the world" myths. For example, many of my fellow students (myself included) were offended when Hussein Ibish of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee called neocons "idealistic, crazy and chauvinistic Jewish-Americans," at a speaking engagement at the Michigan League last year.
But in that accusation lies a sad fact. They are hard-line ideologues whose personalities and foreign policy can be characterized as chauvinistic, and mazel tov, they're all Jewish. A quick note to the anti-Semites: This doesn't vindicate Jewish conspiracy theories, as most American Jews have remained Democrats.
A little background. Most neocons were all the same in their past lives as Trotskyites. This isn't surprising, as Trotskyism is similar to neoconservativism in that they are both anti-democratic and demand all-out, uncompromising war against their enemy (capitalists for the Trots, everyone who is not America or Israel for the neocons) and seeks to be the overarching, single ruling hegemony.
Furthermore, it's not uncommon for people to keep to the extremes. For example, the now-racist David Horowitz was thought to be na?ve by his friends for his enthusiastic support for the Black Panthers in his Marxist youth.
Most of them made the switch in the '60s, like Irving Kristol, when they found themselves supporting Israel when the left was rallying for the Palestinians. They also came from urbane, New York intellectual society, and were disgusted at what they perceived to be the filth that was sex, drugs and rock and roll that stood at the center of left-wing social life.
As Kristol in his trademark, elegantly pompous tone, said, "A neoconservative is a liberal who's been mugged by reality."
In short, nationalism got the best of them. Zionism started out as a left-wing movement, an anti-racist agenda that stood side by side with the civil rights movement. But along came a distrust among the Zionists. They felt no compromise could be made with the enemy. They shunned the leftist aspects of Zionism and traded "peace now" for "piece now" and salivated at the thought of armed conflict. Similar developments happened when violent, bigoted "white devil" attitudes emerged from Black Nationalism.
But what makes right-wing Zionists a problem for this country? A few of them, like Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and Defense Policy Board member Richard Perle, hold high positions where they can dictate policy. Neocons care not about the domestic problems that plague our nation - abysmal public education and unemployment to name a few - but about funding Israel and sticking with the hawkish Likud Party and flexing military muscle against anyone that steps out of line with America.
Don't take my paranoid, left-wing word for it. Perle himself said, according to The Christian Science Monitor, "The President of the United States, on issue after issue, has reflected the thinking of neoconservatives." And just look at the numbers. There's never enough money for schools but there is always billions of dollars available for Israeli aid and whatever war Bush and the neocons want to fight. This nation doesn't suffer from a lack of money, it suffers from an unbalanced allocation of available funds. In fact, some estimate that the Bush administration is actually spending more money on the neocon agenda than Johnson did on his Great Society domestic policies.
This isn't to say that United States should stay away from brokering peace between Israel and the Palestinians. On the contrary, the United States should spend a reasonable amount of energy on ending war and securing ourselves from terrorist threats. But aiding the Israeli extremist position is unhelpful and damaging for the region, and turns a blind eye to more important domestic ills.
