Months after a Utah federal judge granted attorney Jesse Trentdue permission to do a videotaped interview of Oklahoma City bomber Terry Nichols, the FBI has decided to fight the matter. It filed a notice this week before the judge who approved the request.
Trentadue, the lawyer seeking to show his brother Kenneth Trentadue was beaten to death in an Oklahoma City federal prison because he matched a description of a bombing suspect in 1995 contends the case is closed and he's not seeking any monetary damages. He wonders why the government remains so interested in keeping Nichols silent about his knowledge of the bombing of the Murrah building.
His brother died at the Federal Transfer Center a few months after bomber Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols were arrested.
As part of his court case, Jesse Trentdue included a letter written by Terry Nichols to then-U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.
