The Pentagon has sent to the administration a supplemental spending package for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan worth more than $82 billion, according to defense lobbyists. The administration is expected to forward it to Congress before the end of the month, but lobbyists said they did not expect any action to be taken before the end of the year. The war is already funded through the first months of the new year – giving the new Congress some time before it tackles another in a long line of big-ticket spending measures. In the past, war spending bills were difficult to pass, in part because they became a forum for Democrats to protest the Bush administration’s handling of the war in Iraq.
Poster Comment: The Pentagon has a long line ahead of them when Congress convenes on Monday. Yesterday we learned that Detroit wants a ten billion dollar Bailout. Today I learned that the mayor of Philadelphia went to Washington asking for 50 billion dollars for 6 cities. State governors from New York and elsewhere also want a Bailout. A Democrat politician asked for a 300 billion dollar Public Works program. And then there is the auto industry Bailout. The US debt is 10.6 trillion dollars. The debt ceiling is 11.3 Trillion Dollars. The debt ceiling grew 1.485 trillion dollars in just 64 days from 8-28 to 11-4. And now the Dems will be in a feeding frenzy next week when the Congress convenes.

So what's the big deal? There's ALWAYS money for a war! ALWAYS. If they can ALWAYS come up with money for wars, then they can cough up some money for the rest of us. "Oh, no, it will BREAK THE BUDGET" they'll cry. But there's ALWAYS tons of cash available when it's time to fight a war. ALWAYS. So, as of now, I just refuse to believe that there isn't PLENTY of money available for anything and everything else the American people need. "Oh, we can't afford health care", oh no, of course not, but we can ALWAYS come up with money for a trillion-dollar war. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Look, if they really drag their heels on it, just tell them its for a "War on deficits" or a "War on insolvency" or a "War on Disease" or whatever sounds good. Just put the word "War" in there, and they'll cough up the money so fast you'll think they're a printing press.

We'd go broke ONLY if we stopped war. There hasn't been a a moment in my life time that this nation hasn't been at war, threatening war or recovering from war. We can't afford to give peace a chance, and have no fear, we won't.
