So I've been looking at comments about Obama's new war plans, not, and something that's been bugging me for a while causes me to post this. I'm curious what you think and what you think we should do, as a freedom forum.

When, with all these crises on climate change, energy, food, water, land use, environment, etc., are we going to address the problem of too many people?

I'm pretty sure we already have too many people. How should we do that?

I think we should have global goals for a population reduction of 50% by 2050, via natural deaths, contraception, and abortion.

How do we get there?

3 TONS of produce on 1/10 of an acre

Sounds very interesting. What are they growing and how are they doing it?

Human life is far from being the most important thing on this planet. All life is sacred and all species have a right to exist for their own value unto themselves.

Do you eat meat? If you do then you just broke your "have a right to exist" motto.

We are a species out of control that can't live within it's means and is in danger of killing itself off....

Well, goodness, I guess I've learned how to use this forum. I've been waiting for a while for some intelligent thought, just checking my pings, which seem uniformly to suggest I kiil myself or volunteer to be murdered, or my mother made a mistake (lotta bright shit here, eh?), but I took some time today to poke around, and lo and behold, there is actually some clear perception, even agreement out there!

Sorry it took me so long to figure that out. I don't visit every day. Hope to keep the thread alive, and contribute.

Getting human population under control, using all means - education, contraception, abortion, sterilzation and euthansia - is as important, perhaps more so, as curbing our environmental impacts! The two are intricately related.

For those looking for a framework, and a civil discussion, check this piece of research work out:

For Rowdee, I'm a business project manager most recently into organic soil amendments and biofuels, but I do love butterflies.

And for farmfriend, who said "bad government policy driven by environmentalism" has caused western US water issues, sorry, there really isn't enough water. I grew up in the west and watched the mighty Colorado turn into a saline trickle.

You don't deserve a 'civil discussion'.

You deserve a visit from Grim Reaper followed by a visit from a salt truck.

That's what you deserve oh dark and dangerous soul.

LOL! Actually I was correct but showing you proof would be pointless. I'll just leave you with a small amount of food for thought, though I now suspect you don't think.

In the 1800s we had 20 trees/acre, now we have 300+ trees/acre. You think those extra trees don't drink water? Less water in the ground means less in the streams. Precipitation as a whole has not decreased only runoff. Runoff has decreased some 17%. That is the result of environmental policy plain and simple.

You know, really, you are just flat wrong in trying to bombastically try to prevent civil debate on any issue, story or discussion merely because you disagree.

You are still only a human being, not the overiding authority of this universe. Your opinion deserves respect, and so does that of everyone else. If you want respect, try reciprocating please.

Population control by natural attrition is the same thing as learning to live within the carrying capacity of the budget of what resources and space is availible on spaceship Earth, and to express concern we are over extending out carrying capacity is a legitamate discussion, so why don't you calm down and stop being such a blood thirty harpy every damn time you disagreee with someone.

With all due respect, you don't have to be such a pain in the neck, and besides, the mission statement of the forum is a free speech one. So really, it would behoove you to remember that and to lighten up.

My thoughts, you are way wrong, we all still have to listen and weigh what we all think about things and work out solutions, because that is what the Constitution is all about, the checks and balances involved with different power groups and factions problem solving andn working things out.

You need to grow up, and while I don't ever like being that blunt, or as blunt as the last post to you, you are just so out of line, so humorles and intolerent, you have thrown the babt out with the bathwater.

You need to re-assess your manner of thinking about what free speech is and what the Constitution and founder intent is all about.

Uh, thanks again for a constructive comment... what is so dark and dangerous about addressing population control?

I see nothing wrong with zero population growth in developed countries. It's a a natural response to greater wealth, better health, and more leisure time. I also think that the population densities we have now in the US are optimal for maintaining the quality of life that we enjoy.

That doesn't mean that I support government social engineering programs that try to ENFORCE zero population growth. Would you really like to live in a society like China where the government tells you how many children you can have?

If you want to see less population growth, go and help build societies around the world where people voluntarily have fewer children because they have a higher standard of living and long life expectancies. And while you're at it, work to do something about unrestricted third world immigration into first world countries, which is our main source of population growth.

Lodwick. Why would you Amen that? God said to be fruitful and FILL the earth. There is no reason for the faithful to panic about some imaginary overpopulation crisis. The crisis is in human interaction and how we treat each other.

Just the term and very idea of ''population control'' is an idea rooted from satan himself. God said to be fruitful and multiply and no one has a right to subvert God's creation and supress natural law. Google Webster Tarpley's chapter RUBBERS GOES TO CONGRESS, from his book THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF GEORGE H W BUSH. tarpley outlines bush senior's long history of advocating population control worldwide. A great read, available free online.
