None of us has heard much about it because it hasn't been reported in any English media, but The German Supreme Court banned the Celtic Cross in Germany almost two weeks ago. As the symbol is all over Germany, and Europe in general, there's mealy-mouthed legalese inserted so that "apparently harmless" use of the cross will be considered when the cops take an interest in you for wearing or displaying the offending symbol, the excuse being that those scary hate groups that can barely pay their beer tabs use it also. What's next? Banning lines and circles in general? Banning language? Wait, the latter is already under consideration in some forms.

"But racists use the symbol!" will be the usual whine. I used to care. I think it stopped about the time I realized that the hammer and sickle isn't classed as a hateful symbol by those that claim to be experts on the topic and train the police to be on the lookout for these symbols.

The larger point here is that a government is attempting to legislate use of one of the oldest symbols in Europe. Sure, the swastika's illegal, most of the world gets why. But this symbol has been used for thousands of years by many groups for many reasons even to this day, some uses being religious. It's just another step toward the destruction of culture all in the name of combatting "hate". The interest it really serves are those that advocate the two dimensional monoculture of servility and silence in the face of tyranny.

In this case, I can see little difference between those that would ban a cross and those that would burn a cross. Both actions are meant to intimidate particular segments of the population. One stems from a government and the other stems from ignorance, though I repeat myself.

As an American of both Celtic and German descent, my solution is going to be to start printing small Celtic Cross stickers and put them everywhere while it's still legal to do so in America. I'd rather be thought a racist by the whining few than to think myself a coward on my deathbed.

Which side of the crosshairs are you on? If you don't choose, the choice will be made for you.

I, for one, don't get the why of it. A symbol is nothing more dangerous than sticks and stones .... they only harm really thin skin.

And besides that, hammers and sickles once upon a time only denoted hard working folks. Now just the thought of tools scares people half to death.

Now it typifies the merger and morphing of industrial interests and agribusiness. We know how well that's been working out.

Yep. Now we're being morphed nicely into thirdworldism. Wanna eat? Got seed?
