I live in Missouri (don't ask where; I'm not saying).

Missouri has never had a Primary seatbelt law. It does now.

I got pulled over today and given...a $10 ticket for not wearing my seatbelt -- which I do 99% of the time.

When the cop told me $10, I started laughing.

He didn't sign the ticket, or have me sign it, either. I'll just mail it in.

I once figured how many years I'd serve in prison for all that I did in high school, and it came to 15,000 years.

Believe it or not, I was a good kid.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802

That's why I live in Missouri.

I'm originally from Illinois, but used to camp in Missouri a lot as a teenager.

Once, when I was 17, two of my friends and I went into some rural bar, and ate some cheeseburgers while drinking deer.

At a table were several men playing poker for money. Once was a county deputy, the kind with the big fat belly. They didn't even look at us, and all three of us had hair down past out shoulders.

That's Missouri, at least the more rural parts.

A good trick is to loop the belt over one's left arm so it looks as if it's on, without buckling it, good for at least a cursory examination if you're moving.

I actually wear a seatbelt, and the law has nothing to do with it. This time, I just forgot.

$10. I'm still laughing.

Let me guess, if you yelled, "HEY BILLY-BOB!" half the guys around you would look up and say, "What?"

That's where you live.

Heh.

One time I was out on a military exercise in North Carolina in Billy Bob land there. We were all set up in a secure fashion next to a roadway in the backlands very much camoflaged up and hard to see.

A beat up pickum up truck with an obvious BB driving with a young hound in the bed stopped near us.

Mr. BB got out a totin' a gun and dragged the pooch out of the truck giving it a couple of brutal kicks before tying it to a tree.

It was obvious to us doggie was about to go to milk bone heaven.

We all collectively stood up at the same time, and he left in absolute panic and terror nearly crashing the truck as he tore off leaving the now lucky dog behind. (Maybe the fact we had lots of weapons on us had a bearing on this behavior by him, who's to say?)

The guy who adopted him named him 'Guerrilla.' He was sure fortunate that day.

We never found out who Mr. BB was or why he wanted the dog dead.

Remember, it was sworn up and down when the shitbags were pushing these laws that you'd "never be pulled over for a seatbelt violation, it will only be incidental".

Remind any sucker/dumbasses you know of this the next time some colon attaching politician foists up a "good idea" for a new law...

Bring on the Depression. Bring it the F*** ON! If digging ditches and eating beans for a few years is what it takes for me to see some worthless sacks of crap bankers and politicians living in sack cloth and being spat upon by my fellow Americans well... where's my shovel?!?!

Right, and when they made insurance mandatory by law, they sold it on the idea that the cost of insurance would become too cheap to even bill you for.

Funny how THAT one worked out.

Laughing at a police officer doing his job? Not smart.

I don't like laws that require you to wear a seat-belt or have car insurance. If what you are doing doesn't hurt other people then there should be no law against it. However I do wear a seat-belt all the time. I might not like the law, but I'm not stupid either. Seat-belts do save lives everyday.

God is always good!

Endless laws can and will be enacted and enforced to protect us from ourselves.

It is called the nanny state.

I suppose we can wonder how we ever survived a hundred years ago looking out for ourselves.
