First, I went to Bass Pro Shops where ammunition was FLYING off the shelves, it was like sticking my hand in a buzz-saw to grab what I needed (2 boxes of Federal Vital-Shok 30.06/Sierra GameKing's, 1 box of .17 Remington/Hornady HP's). Approximately 25 people standing at the counter purchasing handguns, normally 3-4 people at the most buying handguns. Not one minority in sight in that store. Next stop, the local ammo shop by the cop shop for a box of pistol ammo (Bass Pro was OUT). Same scenario, 12 people in a little shop buying handguns when normally there might be one other person in there at the same time as me.

Both places said it had been like that since Obummer had allegedly been "elected". A Bass Pro salesjerk said they restock ammo every day and the shelves are bare by the end of the day.

P.S. I'm getting a $10 rebate for my Federal Ammo:

Nehemiah 4:14 And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”

'Nor do they sell corroded "mystery" ammo in a paper bag from under the counter.

On a related note, I had to speak with a banker-person today, and we broke off into the economy, etc...turns out that his 'never had a gun in her life' wife asked him if he would get her an AR-15!

He said that with fifteen minutes training, she was deep in the black at 12 - 15 yards.

Why are you buying boxes of ammo? You should be buying crates for every gun that you own. This is what I did years ago. I bought (initially) 500 rounds for each of my pistols and revolvers. A thousand rounds (initially) for each of my rifles. Another 500 rounds ( initially) for each of my shotguns. As of today, I now own a thousand rounds for each handgun and shotgun. For my rifles, I have more than 2,000 rounds for each. Within the coming year, I expect to add by a third to each of the categories above.

If you're going to prepare, then be serious about it.

I have more than 2,000 rounds for each.

I used to think that more was better, but I have since changed my tune.

If I get into a fight and need more than 100 rounds, it's a safe bet I'm going to come out of it dead.

However, if I need less than 100, then chances are there will be ammo to capture from the corpses of the enemy. :)

I keep about 500 for each of my non essential rifles, and about 1500 of .223 on hand. I hand load for my .308, and just keep 60 rounds on hand, with bullets, powder and primers to make about 500 more.

I also have about 2000 55 gr .223 bullets with powder and primers to load them all.

I shall not vote for evil, lesser or otherwise.

The value in having lots of gear is to be able to supply family, friends, neighbors who were not so forward thinking, or preparing.

If anything happens here, I don't expect it to be a long, drawn-out affair.

Weapons and ammo are important, but baseline defensive tactics are critical too.

No doubt if people are moved on by authorities like they did on the Night of Broken Crystal in Germany, you have to possibly go into retrograde mode (retreat) to a rally point.

I tell people that if they see an in force grab, it's too late to run around to do the Paul Revere gig and to get out to a rally point.

You come back after they execute their operation to grab and start killing and destroying.

Try picking a place no one in their right mind will go or is avoided, say swampy areas with lots of thorned brush and 'wait a minute' vines for example.

Say someone gets large, heavy plastic (metal detector proof as much as possible) drums and say digs a pit, lays in gravel and buries them until needed - not so much one can't periodically inspect the material to make sure food, ammo, weapons, clothing, or what ever to make sure weather or insects have not damaged them - you can sit out the storm of them taking control.

Have a contact plan for when you re-emerge. It is not enough to act yourself when you surface, you have to be prepared to organize and train your insurgents.

Nobody can fight oppression alone. Rambo is entertaining, but in SF I learned the value of training.

Now what you are going to teach people. Organize your lessons in small bites organized with the formula of task, condition and standard.

Remember when you build an insurgency, you have to compartmentalize for security.

If you store chemicals and other components to make explosives, separate everything into caches in different locations.

Finding you with weapons might just get you off with severe beatings and imprisonment, an intact inventory of components to make bombs definitely makes one more a candidate for summary execution.

Think along these lines, and you can be an effective leader to those who need it when they need it the most. De Oppresso Liber.

I've become more and more bold about asking the neighbors on my daily walks if they are 'armed-up' and ready for whatever the BO regime will bring to our country.

More than I would have ever guessed are saying, 'Yes, we're getting prepared.'

If we don't need it - wonderful, but if we do, and don't have it - it's our own damn fault.

We have been warned.

It sounds as though you're well ahead of the game when it comes to ammo. Because I live in the Ozark forest in northwest Arkansas, I decided to stockpile ammo since I live 35 miles away from the closest city. Should something happen, I'd be in a world of hurt if I didn't have a good supply on hand.

If anything happens here, I don't expect it to be a long, drawn-out affair.

Actually, the value of having lots of gear is out-living those family, friends and neighbors who were not forward thinking or prepared. I don't want to sound like a ogre, but if my family, friends and neighbors haven't taken my advice and prepared, I will not reward their indolence and indifference by arming or feeding them when the rubber meets the road. However, if they have something with which to barter, then we might be able to do a little business.

I see a long and drawn out affair that will leave millions homeless, hungry and very probably on the move. With any luck, I will not be found among them.

I've got two large surplus Wehrmacht ammo crates. They're real nice and sturdy w/fancy hinges and a moisture-resistant interior.
