Actually, that's my favorite part. I have a truly dismal opinion of Christianity. "Love your enemy", "Turn the other cheek", "Hate the sin but love the sinner", etc. Man, why don't they just call it "lay down and die-ianity"? Or "You don't have a chance-iainity"? Or "Philosophy for the doomed-ianity"? Or "Perpetual mind puzzles to keep you confuzzled, perplexed, impotent and hopeless forever-ianity"?

If people REALLY want REAL hope for the future, the FIRST thing they're going to have to do is to jettison the Jewish bronze-age superstitions and start facing reality with a clear head.

Does this mean we all have to be athiests? Hardly. I do think there's quite a lot to be said for spirituality, I do think it's more likely than not that this reality is a subset of a greater reality, that there is more than just this life. The whole "God" thing I have a bit more trouble accepting, I have a hard time thinking there's some big guy on a throne somewhere who sees all and knows all and judges people, but that's just me. I can handle people having different beliefs, that's more than fine by me. But when beliefs become institutions, become part of the government, part of the ruling classes, part of what is used to control and manipulate the masses, then my warning buzzers start to go off big time.

All that being said, I simply cannot contain my utter disdain for Christianity any longer. If it was just benign nonsense that people wasted time on, I'd be able to ignore it and figure it's not worth confronting. But it's not. It's actively destructive, it encourages people to be weak and impotent and ineffective and willingly ignorant, it teaches people to endure that which should not be endured, teaches people to tolerate that which should not be tolerated, teaches people that "God" and "Jesus" are going to make everything ok "someday", yet that someday never ever ever ever comes, and I just cannot stand by any longer and not speak out against it.

It's a pestilence, a plague upon humanity, and it needs to be confronted ceaselessly, tirelessly, relentlessly, over and over again until people finally wise up and reject it for the noxious nonsense that it is. Not by force of law or force of arms, but by rational discussion and repeated confronting of the contradictions, the inconsistencies, the errors and the absurdities it promotes. As Voltaire once said, "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities". Consider that atrocities can come in many forms, from committing violence against innocents to accepting violence against yourself. Is it any less atrocious to allow unspeakable violence against yourself, whether it be economic, social or physical, than it is to commit violence against innocent others? This is the atrocity that is Christianity. It needs to end. Now.

Gold and silver are REAL money, paper is but a promise.
