Multiple Kill Vehicle Completes Hover Test

Missile Defense Agency Director Lieutenant General Patrick O'Reilly announced that a test of the Multiple Kill Vehicle-L (MKV-L) was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the National Hover Test Facility at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Preliminary indications are that planned test objectives were achieved. Objectives of the test included having the MKV-L hover under its own power and prove its capability to recognize and track a surrogate target in a flight environment. During the test, the MKV-L's propulsion system demonstrated maneuverability while tracking a target. The MKV-L transmitted video and flight telemetry to the ground.

The MKV-L mission is to destroy medium through intercontinental-range ballistic missiles equipped with multiple warheads or countermeasures by using a single interceptor missile. During an actual hostile ballistic missile attack, the carrier vehicle with its cargo of small kill vehicles will maneuver into the path of an enemy missile. Using tracking data from the Ballistic Missile Defense System and its own seeker, the carrier vehicle will dispense and guide the kill vehicles to destroy any warheads or countermeasures.

The MKV-L development team is led by Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. The Raytheon Company is also developing a separate multiple kill vehicle technology (MKV-R) on a dual-path basis.

This thing is a nightmare.

Edit: this is a computer generated model of what the thing does.

It's not CGI. It's actual footage.

What a horrible comment on America's "ingenuity." We have off-shored all our manufacturig and inventiveness to nations around the globe but for 1 industry - the killing machine defense industry. America still is King in that category. Sick.

This is a more complete video on the MKL-V and its host.

Do you think the bankers would use this in America after the dollar crashes?

It's straight out of Hell.

I've noticed that a lot of this type of technology gets here from Israel. [Is- Ra-Hell]

They call it the AMERIKAN DREAM because you have to be asleep (and you are) to believe it !

Supposedly, it is launched upon the detection of incoming missile(s) and then launches its own projectiles to zap said missile(s).

YT commentary was all over the board, from 'I want one to zap Santa Claus if he doesn't do right this year,' to just about what you said its proper use should be.

How much did it cost to develop this thing??

What an unseemly question to ask of our DoD.

Who knows the cost?

Look what happened to Cynthia McKinney after she pressed Rummy for some accountability...

They will spare no slaves that do not serve their purpose.

Get them before they get us would be appropriate about now.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

Even worse, there are multiples of these things released at once from a delivery missile.

I'd be surprised if they don't find a use for this tech on the ground. Imagine walking down the street and having one of these things jump up from behind a hedge.
