Holland Township family angry that supermarket won't personalize cake for their son by Express-Times staff Sunday December 14, 2008, 12:16 AM Express-Times Photo | BRUCE WINTERHolland Township resident Heath Campbell holds his daughter, 1-year-old JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell.

JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell and Adolf Hitler Campbell.

Good names for a trio of toddlers? Heath and Deborah Campbell think so. The Holland Township couple has picked those names and the oldest child, Adolf Hitler Campbell, turns 3 today.

This has given rise to a problem, because the ShopRite supermarket in Greenwich Township has refused to make a cake for young Adolf's birthday.

"We believe the request ... to inscribe a birthday wish to Adolf Hitler is inappropriate," said Karen Meleta, a ShopRite spokeswoman.

The Campbells turned down the market's offer to make a cake with enough room for them to write their own inscription and can't understand what all of the fuss is about. .

"ShopRite can't even make a cake for a 3-year-old," said Deborah Campbell, 25, who is Heath's wife of three years and the mother of the children. "That's sad."

Others, such as Anti-Defamation League director Barry Morrison, applauded Shop Rite's decision.

"Might as well put a sign around their (the children's) neck that says bigot, racist, hatemonger," said Morrison. "What's the difference?"

What do you think? Was ShopRite correct for refusing to personalize a cake for the Campbells? Feel free to comment below and take the time to vote in our online poll.

Also, check out a photo gallery from the Campbell family home.

Such stupid-assed parents.

I sure hope that little boy has thick skin because life is gonna be a bitch for him.....he'll always be in 'trouble', and it will be hard for (s)heeple to set aside their own hangups against Adolph Hitler, the original one, and will carry on over to this little new one.

And as for the stupid-assed sonofabitch from the ADL, he lays it out perfectly-- label the child for what the parent thinks or does!

i'm thinking he may go ahead and change his name.

or, start a cult.

either way.

So they called the adl to get their opinion. How surprising...

I wish they'd have picked different names for their kids. THey are fucking up their kids lives by doing this.

I despise parents as cruel bastards who saddle their child with a name that satisfies the parent's egos rather than gifts the child with a name that can be worn proudly. It is a self-inflicted wound. These "parents" ought to be pilloried in the Public Square as unfit to be parents as they are unnecessarily cruel to their children.

It reminds me of the kids next door who named their son after the Rock Group "Devo" or Frank Zappa who named his kids "Dweezil" and "Moon Unit".

Since when do we check with Israeli Intelligence to find out what a fit name is for a child?

The name is unfit, but not because the ADL Israeli Intelligence says so.

Sure he can change his name...........but not right now......how would a little kid go about changing his name? His parents could........but how does a little kid hire a lawyer to proceed thru the system to get it changed? His parents were the assholes who laid this moniker on him in all their 'smart-assed' wisdom, so its unlikely they'd have it changed because it wouldn't suit their believes or ideals.

This, to me, is cruelty.........I always thought the song A Boy Named Sue was silly, but this takes the 'cake', if you will.

We're certainly on the same page with this issue, OI. It is so damaned hard just growing up in good circumstances, but then, when you start sticking on this thing or that thing, it makes it so much harder.

The same holds true for biracial kids. What world do they fit in? What do they have to go thru to determine that?

The same thing holds true for Catholics who marry outside the church.....do the children have fears and qualms that their parents weren't married? Are they legitimate or not?

Surely, in all three instances here, the children have to question whether their parents even really love them.

Hmmm....

I once worked at a Chinese laundry for a Mr. Mi Wang Kerr.

I can't recall having a problem having Mi Wang Kerr inscribed on his cake.

i have an article that i was going to write about with all the chinese naval development, the very least we should expect is at least one craft named the 'wang' and the other named the 'ho'...

the ho escorts the wang, and all that shit.

its funny, see?

That one I understand. While I am about as "white" looking as it gets I do have 3 different Indian Tribes in my ancestry (at least 3) and so I am not "Red" enough to be an Indian and I'll never be "white" enough for the bigots. So, my solution was to be me.

I think Black/White or Black/Asian kids have the roughest go of it. The problem they face with the white population is that they are too black and the problem they face with the black population is that they are too white. Asians simply will not accept them - period. While it does not get a lot of play, it's not PC, Asians are among the most race concious peoples. Anything other than pure Japanese/Korean/Chinese (especially the Chinese) is unacceptable in their community - period, and no appeal. I have read it theorized that one of the reasons Bruce Lee was whacked, and he was whacked, was that he was teaching Asian secrets to "white eyes". If I recall correctly he was not pure Chinese as well. The Asian Martial Arts have a lot of secrets prohibited, culturally, to be taught to others. Some of the feats of some of the true Chinese Masters boggle the Western Mind - such as stopping a charging Water Buffalo with one punch (documented).

Human culture is interesting and much of Asian Culture remains a blank to most Westerners - and I include myself. I simply know enough to know that there is a lot I do not know.

Inter-racial animosity is nothing more than xenophobia and is irrational, but much of what "man" does and believes is irrational.
