1998 Chevy Cavalier, 525,000 miles. First engine blew at 334,00 but the transmission was still running.

Put in a transmission and engine with 20,000 miles.

Finally, the second transmission went out.

Got a 2000 Chevy S-10, 92,000 miles, a little body damage near one rear tire, and a stick-shift (which no one can drive anymore).

Cost: $2000.

I've been shifting gears since 1985, I wouldn't mind hanging it up and sliding behind the wheel of an E550 'Benz ;-)
